1st-I really hate to youtube criticize, so dont think I am, this is just one drummer to another real talk. 2nd- open up your hats when doing these kind of beats.
(experience from playing with my band down here in texas) (nice set btw though)
luke snyder blasting, with a DOUBLE BASS PEDAL?!?! :P was just thinking bout this earlier actually, my pedal work is the weakest aspect of my playing atm, i've gotten used to having really light settings on my pedals- which is how i've always played- and recently i've gotten a bit lazy, because i now have a double bass pedal and i can get the same results with half the effort per foot.. i dont want bad habits like that- its why i didnt use a double bass pedal for years.. what are your thoughts?
@GerardBlaize Thats why if I can play it with one foot, I always do. Anything with 8th notes or isolated doubles stays on one foot, not two! But you can't play 16ths up to speed with one foot ;)
@LukeSnyderMusic lol silly americans, we use quavers and semiquavers... what kinda setting do you use? i'm using really light settings on my pedals atm, i feel like i should try adding more tension to the springs, because atm i can hit the bass drum without the beater really connecting, if you know what i mean. thanks for the reply btw
@GerardBlaize Haha, silly Britishers, a quaver is tremble in your voice ;) But anyways, I change my settings all the time, to trick my feet, haha. I haven't really ever settled on one thing. I generally like a really light feel though, I'm eventually gonna get some Axis longboards. Putting the spring tension higher will give you a much better workout, I would go for it!
@GerardBlaize Oh well, silly Europeans, in that case, haha! But yeah, I would definitely give it a shot. You can also try increasing the beater distance from the head. It will feel like you're trying to move blocks of steel at first, but wait until you feel how light they are if you switch back later!
Well hey, you must be doing something right with your style of playing because to me it seemed like I could put a metronome over your playing and not notice much tempo change. As long as it seems like you're playing tight, right?
Actually, to me that sounds like a get-out-of-jail free card for not practicing till you get exactly tight.
@SomersVincent Well, my tempo doesn't stray to much, but the part thats not tight is the unisons between my right hand and my feet. I can hear my feet struggling a bit :P Oh well, I'll get my feet back up to speed eventually, haha.
@arconda666 Thank you so much for stopping by Arconda, that means a huge deal coming from you. I've always been very impressed by your speed, its absolutely stunning!
Also, when you linked my name in the description it linked the closed parenthesis with it. Mind you put a space between the link and the close parenthesis so it links properly?
@Subrick Haha, yeah, I guess. My feet are killing me these days, I can't play anything cleanly. I just got a double pedal again after a 6 month hiatus, and I've lost lots of ground. Oh well! Plus, I have patellar tendonitis in my left knee... its kinda painful to play, lol!
