i disagree. this song shows a very nonchalant, sort of naive beach party that has absolutely no regard for the more important things in life. the little asian boy that looks destitute and hopeless, and everyone else- a popurri of ages, sexes, races.. sort of indulging in this senseless, affluent party. i think its sort of an allegory of the meaning of the song- that being to not being so materialistic and short-sighted and selfish.
if someone just stumbled upon this video without know who Local Natives are, they might think they're a goofy looking band of 4 old guys and a little kid who sings way beyond his age....
the reason the views keep going back down to zero is because the Local Natives keep want to remain true to their hipster ways. if the view count goes up too much it would make them seem mainstream, so in order to stay "hip" or "hipsters" as they like to call themselves, they like to remain underground or "against the mainstream".
