I worked at the Rolls Royce Diesel Div in Shrewsbury Shropshire England, now Cat. I worked on the big DV8's mainly and the CV military engines but not the Eagles which were built on an assembly line. They were used in trucks, Dennis Dart buses (laid flat), gen sets and lots more. Excess fuel device on cold start always smoked a lot. Good engines but often sufffered from scored bores on the bus engines. Regards
Yeah mostly but they are found in some buses and trucks, i have seen one local to me used as power backup for a sheltered housing complex, it's huge with a massive cooling fan! Haven't heard it running sadly but because it's kept in a boiler house it's spotlessly clean! :)
i know it isnt one, but that does sound a bit like a merlin to me:)
