@zoslowhand: On the I chord, A7, which is the first chord played and the tonal center of this track, you can use a major 3rd of an A major scale. On the V chord, which is E7 in this case and the last chord you hear before the track loops over again, you can use both the major 7th and the major 3rd of an A major scale. So try replacing C (5th fret 3rd string) with C# (one fret up) when you hear A7. Then play C# as well as replacing G (5th fret 4th string) with G# (one fret up) when you hear E7.
I didn't realize how much fun blues were to play. I use the pentatonic scale when I do rock, but I never tried it with blues. Gives a great sound combination.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS i got my blues chops from this>:D gives me the tasty feel. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS and this is why youtube was made
NINJAM is a program to allow people to make real music together via the Internet. Every participant can hear every other participant. Each user can also tweak their personal mix to his or her liking. NINJAM is cross-platform, with clients available for Mac OS X and Windows.
Backing tracks are the the most useful thing to come from YouTube, and, dare I say, even the entire internet!! :) My pentatonic skills, which were dormant for years and stuck in the first position have bloomed, it is now second nature to fly through all 5 and I have improved my phrasing 100%. Thanks to all you guys who take the time to create and post these valuable videos.
ill be honest. i have played metal guitar for almost a year and a half. but when i played this i was so hyptonized by the beautiful blues im tempted to give up my band and pursue this. it is like singing to my soul
Ok why doesn't some tell me strings and frets that go well with jamming along with this :) Lol @cause I really don't know notes etc...
I just jammed with the e and b string on the 8th and 10th frets and it worked well. And was incredibly fun :P So what else works for some solo jamming?
@wipsii The 8th fret (G) is in the minor pentatonic, which is the scale he wrote out. The 7th fret (F#) is the 6th of the chord, and makes it the major pentatonic. Both notes work, but since he was writing out the minor pentatonic, he was right.
Hi i enjoyed your backing tracks. Please advise on how i could get some more. I like the Blues Music. If you do any Old Rock and Roll i would be interested in that also. Thank you George
You're almost there, it's ADAA DDAA EDAE. And it starts with this intro EDAA, this is called taking it from the five, as E is the IV chord here, good jamming!
its sad, but alot of people rely on the pentatonic scale to play lead, which isnt a bad thing if you like that sort of thing, but i think everyone ends up sounding the same. although i do use the minor pentatonic scale as my reference point, dont forget, your actually playing in A major, not minor. so although the A minor pentatonic works, you can also add a different sound by play in A major, rather than A minor. if you dont know how to play the A major scale, think of it as F# minor pentatonis
use the blues scale, the added note (i call it the blue note) is very badass! but be carefull, use this only as a "passage" note, if you stop on it it'll sound creepy :P
I have also always been a metal player, but damn you gotta love jammin to the blues. This track rocks. Blues is the foundation baby. Thanks for postin this one!!!!!!
i was told by a guy that played the harp. but he mostly plays guitar. You do need a guitar for this though. but if say the song is in G then look on your guitar on the( 6th string E string) at the 3rd fret is your G note The note Below on the 5th string is a C thats what harp you want a Key of C harp
and the same for A on the 6th String the note below it on the 5th string is the D so a D harp would work and so on...Thats just a basic guide. im sure theres other ways but that's one
this 1 video response sux.. no offence..but i wanna see some good guys play along to this ...i would post one (not that im that good) but i dont have a camera
man this kicks asss! its like the ultimate backing track! and so are your other ones... so hard to pick which to use next!!! you should have some other genres up though, metal jazz rock and one i really want: FUNK!! no oen ever has a funk backin track
I have always been a metal player and I have been in the mo0d to learn new styles and blues has always been the base for what I do, so lately I have been stripping it back to the basics and this is by far the best track to jam to so far.
thanks for the DVD.....does what it says, took me hours to look through all the tracks ha... brilliant value...will have hours of fun with this. Thumbs up.!!!!!!

D string- 5th, 7th, and 10th
G string- 5th,7th, and 9th
B string- 5th, 8th and 10th
E string- 5th, 8th and 10th
Those will get ya started!

Thats not truth, you have one note wrong it's the B string- 5th, 7th and 10 Not 8th but 7th..
But the rest was right.
wipsii 1 year ago
@wipsii The 8th fret (G) is in the minor pentatonic, which is the scale he wrote out. The 7th fret (F#) is the 6th of the chord, and makes it the major pentatonic. Both notes work, but since he was writing out the minor pentatonic, he was right.

which is best to improv this with? Am pentatonic or A blues scale?
gothdude94 2 years ago
there the same thing but the blues scale adds like, 1 note lol. try it out for yourself, I use a minor pentatonic
Shandaminion 2 years ago
The Blues scale is, in effect, a minor pentatonic scale with added notes. So you could use either. but always use your ear as the judge.
BPandTyler 2 years ago
the scales are only one note apart, just through in the blues note in a phrase if you feel like it. Unless you meant A major pentatonic...
spaceshipone333 2 years ago
