  • i gotta know do u say helpless on purpose?

  • @RcWorld7 I have this strange urge to strangle him every 3 minutes.

  • @RCGUY2512 go to grayson hobbies website they sell kits for the extra300

  • what prop do u use for the ur extra 300

  • hey I need to know what the name is of the thing the remote control communicates with and what parts and best deals on parts I can buy am trying to make a plane out of wood ^_^ plz message me

  • what about the 8x4 prop?

  • You are really an awesome guy Dave, you are genius you are the mind of RC Fighter, jets & helicopters. I can't believe that this is a mind of humans. I will not say anything more to describe you because there is word can describe you or your mind. Best wishes great friend!

  • the bigger your planes, the more money it will cost you over time.

a 46 engine can be anywhere below 100 dollars. a 61 engine can be between 90 and 200 dollars. a giant scale plane needs several servos and like a 500 dollar radio. and a 20 dollar prop. my 61 consumes much more fuel. i get maybe 7 minutes of flight with it on a 1 cup tank of gas. my avistar with a 45 can fly for over 20 minutes on one tank of gas. but electric is a true money saver.

  • is the stock prop the best for a stock wildhawk?

  • What prop is better for glider type planes, 8x3? What is the range on the usual 2.4ghz receiver and controller? Anybody used a camera to fly an airplane? e.g. stream it live to a laptop or tv and fly it using that video stream?

  • It's a fun idea, but I wouldn't go that route, at least not flying the plane through streaming video alone. Your situational awareness will be rather limited, including the plane's orientation. The radio range can be a mile, or more, but it can vary rather significantly too. Receiving transmitted video at that range might also be difficult. Your best bet is looking up the different equipment specs to know what you're up against.

  • yea its called FPV flying.

  • Can you connect more than one battery to a receiver? Or motor?

  • I have asked a million (exageration) people about what prop, motor, esc battery etc and no one ever really explained it as good as this. Nice work Dave.

  • love your videos, they are perfectly informative, i just built my first plane ( extra 300 pdf) once im finished ill post a responce thanks!

  • same here. done with the body, still waiting on the electronics.

  • What electronics do you use. motor, servos etc

  • none yet, probably going to use a Welgard V2 motor with metal gear servos. lots of wind to fight where i live so i need all the power i can get

  • THANKS ,,,,,betterr if it is free

  • lol. helplessness?

  • what do you think of rc timer rc products from hong kong are they good quality they are a lot cheaper than the ones in the us so i hope some one can awser this.

  • Just curiosity. Did you try to change the blade angles of duct fan by a servo :D

  • hahaha initech from office space

  • "We've all just fried our electronics figuring this out"...

Perhaps you have, but I haven't fried anything... yet ;-) I have different motors on all my planes and different props etc. It's not random experimentation. There are formulae that you can apply.

    Congrats on the 100 videos.

  • Hello everyone, i have a motor but no clue what type pf batterie voltage it is. it has no markings and i am new to this so i dont know exactly what to do.

  • If it's a generic motor, you could try looking at some websites that sell motors. Most motors have a distinguishable shape. The more difficult thing to find out would be the actual ratings, eg. kV, efficiency, voltage etc.

  • wut motor goes on a 4x4 or 4x3

  • is that an "office space" t-shirt?

  • doest the ebook include gas powered?

  • no only electric

  • GReat info Dave.I ordered your Perfect PArk flyer Power system ebook. How about doing a video on radio systems. Which is better or recommended in 2.4gig system

  • thanks for the video i always been looking for tha info..

  • can you use a brush less motor and speed controle??

  • Bite? You mean Pitch, right? LOL, nice one Dave.

  • That's a really great video with some equally great advice!!!

I experienced the "burning out the motor with the wrong size prop" thing when I fitted the prop from a rubber band plane direct to an RS540 motor from my Tamiya Hotshot (we're talking late 1980's here).... I was *amazed* at how hot the motor got and how quickly it burned out.

  • oh very nice

  • Dave, you should build a push and pull power system. Use a radar gun and see what kinda speed you can get out of a good build.

  • great video as usual Dave. U have a gift for splainin stuff! Keep up the good wrk. I want to get the E book but have an old computer and cant download newer pdfs. Gotta find a way round that cause I know u dont mailorder the ebook.

  • Awesome video Dave!! I was waiting for something on this! That's super handy stuff thankyou very much. Learned alot in this video!

  • i put an over-tec 2200kv in my parkzone stryker. it says use a 5x5 prop in the specs which works okay, but a 6x4 gives slightly better speed, much better vertical but slightly less flight time depending on how you fly it.

  • Well done, Dave. Lots of good, basic information.

  • LOVE the shirt, Dave! "I deal with the customers so the engineers dont have to... I HAVE PEOPLE SKILLS!"

  • loaded voltage, current, power in, efficiency, power out, RPM, static velocity, thrust, thrust -to weight ratio, power loading. those are the

match your voltage to your motor, maximize your current by selecting prop, cross check thrust and velocity against requirements. select mAh batt to provide flight time.

    it can get complicated

  • ok I need a 20x58

  • pro pellers

  • finally someone explained the second digit in a propeller dimension! I always thought that (for example a 6X4 prop) that the 4 meant the pitch of the prop was 4 degrees but i knew that was impossible. thanks so much for explaining it

  • hey can you send a message to me about the f-117 because i have fanfold foam that i am going to use for it i just need to know about everything else like electronics and is it a 4 channel plane? im good at flying just have never made a plane before thanks bv9073

  • Great examples using cars! Another great video Dave! I keep coming back

  • Damn you should have aired this a week earlier, before I went and bought motor + prop set. Now it seems that my parkjet will be slow. Well, atleast it will have so much static thrust that it will go vertical from zero speed. Oh well, lets see...

  • Very helpful videos. A big help would be info on BEC's, how to bind receivers and how to configure all the wiring.

  • what? did i hear this right? a 6x6 has a greater 'bite' than a 6x4? if its anything like my gun's rifling twist rate, i don't think this is right. lower number pitches have a more aggressive 'bite' or angle which makes shorter travel distance.

  • for a rifle twist rate, the number is how far it takes for one turn of the rifling. for a propeller, the number is for how far one turn takes you. I can see how your confused! but yes, that is right. 6x6 has more bite than 6x4.

  • well i posted a comment but instead of replying to you, youtube put it seperate so i will copy and paste it:

  • ok, i get it now , thanks Pat for clearing that up!

  • Already got this and it's great - it has helped me sort out many many of my power problems - well done

  • this was very helpless lol

  • Great vid!! i love your channel!

BTW the guy who is with you often, did he fly F-4 Phantom in NAM? wow... would love to see a vid with him talking about his wartime experiences!

    ( history teacher here...)

    ASH

  • Thank you for a very informative video.

  • very helpful! i have been flying rc for around 3 years and i never new that!

very informative and always well presented!

    Five Stars

  • Thank you so much.

I'm looking for this information for almost a year!!

And a very very good video dave!!

  • the best dave

  • great videos keep them up i enjoy them ....tazps tech randy

  • you explain things verry well ,thank you . i would like to say that an rc motor could be thought of like a car motor with the transmission.5s

  • which prop do you have to use for the extra 300?

  • I think a slowfly prop

  • depends how big the plane is and what motor your useing

  • infomercial, nice. looking fwd for more.

  • another 5star video from u Dave !

u rock,i rly enjoy watching ur videos they are really helpless and cant wait to see the F-35 in action again.

  • i got this serrieus question for you i hope you read it.

    in your email inbox :D

i really think you need to read it!

  • Dave is my hero...great teaching and great information. Another e-book sold!

  • i wish i could buy it :(

  • Very helpful video. This is gonna come in use when i start building planes.

  • 1:11 If i axe you? lol

  • he says that all the time...it's a Daveism...

    Helpless

    Hopeless

  • thanks a lot for these amazing videos Dave!!!

I'm a newbie to this amazing hobby and your videos helped a lot !!

i was wondering if in your next video you were gonna talk about gyros !!!!

I kinda get gyros but not 100 % so that would be helpful if you could explain how they work !!!

thanks a lot for all your videos !!

  • Dave, this was a great addition to your E-book (bought it a week ago). It really pulled together the information I got from your book and your philosophy on design. I think I now understand how to tune a plane's performance. Thanks!!

  • Wow, that's cool! I'm trying to design my own planes, too bad I have no fucking idea how! So I'm gonna use this! Thanks very much.

  • Great video as always Dave and the 6x4 is the size i have on my stryker and never knew what it meant well i got the size but not what the 4 was for lol,so thanks helped loads cheers Dave,5*

  • Oh good! Glad that helped!

  • Jadesbros is Aerobear btw. :-P

  • Try to use a ducted fan for the F35 vetical take off!!

    Nice vid!!

  • Hey thanks! Our video this Saturday is gonna be talking about EDFs and VTOL.

  • Dude, did you burp?

    Duuuuuude!!

  • That was awesome. I need to check into that book. You are amazing my friend. I enjoyed your video very much. Have a great night and I hope you have the best day ever. God bless you and your family. How much does F-35 cost if you bought one made by you? Just was wondering.

  • Hey thanks alot Joe! I wish I had more time to make some more planes and could ship them. We have looked into hiring more help so we could do just that!

  • id be thrilled to work for you...if you were on the East coast
