Yes China has building codes and fire sprinklers in the tall buildings. However, the farther you go away from the big cities, the regulations are much more relaxed.
A double-floor flat on the top of the apartment in Hong Kong will easily cost you 5mn, instead of this 1mn as told in the video. Hong Kong has 90% of its area covered with mountains, therefore its building area is actually less than 10% of that in Shenzhen. However its population is not much less.
The Greater Pearl River Delta, Is the Worlds greatest-ever Megalopolis ...in an area around the size of London or Paris, but only 75percent of LA live (at least) 45million people, in a now UNBROKEN chain of cities(asian Vegas-Macau, Historic Zuhai, Zhongshan, Foshan, Regional capital "Canton /Guagzou," Donguan, Huizhou, the massive Shenzen and finally, the crown-jewel of cities, Hong Kong...the AVERAGE building hight is 20 floors.
READ the facts and WEEP, size-obsessed Americans!!
I don't live in tall buildings though, that's for everyone else, to enjoy spectacular views (three floor country house, for me)....I'm a bit scared of heights.
I also have a first-floor flat in an old 10-floor-NO-lift building in Tia Po (around 40 years old now,ANCIENT for this part of the world) It's 2mins walk to the KCR and I have big hopes that property developers will be eager to bribe me handsomely to give them my deeds and F*ck-off, in the near future.
Any coment which doesn't praise China will be hunted down by Chinese activist and given a negative review. When it reaches -5 it won't be seen anymore by default, and that's what they want. So much for liberty of expression - the Chinese ultranationalism is already infiltrating inside the western websites. Dare to critisize China? They'll try to silence you !

every one of these buildings will have an extremely busy Macdonald's at the bottom of it...I bet Hong Kong sells more Big Macs per day than NYC.
