  • my dog does that across the carpet

  • They'd got to protect the back of the fuselage

  • The pilots raised the nose too early

  • @Takroumt

your reading skills really suck, but your comprehension is even worse.

  • Comment removed

  • @Takroumt That's the idea - it's a flight test to find out Minimum Takeoff speeds!

  • @1993GOS Yes you're right I didn't know it at the beginning, but I noticed that in other tests they protect the tail.

  • @Takroumt They have here too - that's what that orange piece is sticking out of the tail :)

  • @1993GOS oo yes thanks

  • Why is there no sound? When was this filmed 1805?!

  • @4crevis 1985 you idiot :|

  • @9T6Q Oh yeah... it's in the description! ... I was being IRONIC you plank! ...do you understand what IRONY is???

  • @4crevis umad bro? :D

  • Tail strike FTW!

  • The song "stuntin like my daddy" plays in my head when I see this video. =p

  • He dragged his ass.

  • That plane knows how I feel after having a spicy meal.

  • that was close

  • its not that crazy to tail-strike that plane, remember loading plays a crucial role in this aircraft. in real life ops flying this baby is great

  • thats a very steep angle of attack, any slower and the plane might have stalled

  • @StevenTaylorH I was thinking the exact same thing

  • ur morons!

  • Plowing through the air.

  • eeeesh!

  • How could you possibly tail strike in that plane

  • You would have to be a dumbass pilot to pull up that much that quick in real life

  • Let me guess what will happen next: STALL! STALL! STALL!

  • Is there an Alarm that goes off when you 'Scrape' your tail?

  • @pilot588. Nope because you can probs hear it and the passengers would be complaning. If it's serious enough it could damage the bulkhead at the rear of the aircraft.

  • You don't know how close that was to a stall.

  • this was the time where Pilots had balls

  • @Postbus22. They do this today.

  • @Cook1993 Dude second time that i say this.

It was a reaction on a guy how say crappy american planes. And if i hate american planes why is the MD80 me favorite aircraft.

  • the pilot are crazy or the plane is useless

  • @madalin703

this was the tail strike test intended by mcdonelldouglas (MD) aircraft co.

    this wasnt a accident..

  • If I would be a passenger in that plane (if it would have been a scheduled flight) I would rather walk ;)

  • Cool

  • Pilots are such a turn on :)

  • I currently fly the MD-80 series jets. This is the first Vmu video I've seen of the DC-9.

     Thanks for posting!

  • I guess noone pays attention to the title of the video to know before they pull a Captian Obvious that it is a test. People that moronic should be castrated. Cool video btw =)

  • Nice vid! I know you probably have the whole video, and can't share the whole thing. You mind sharing it with me...privately?

  • hmm that looks like more than 15 degrees nose up

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong but the clime out angle in normally 20 degrees nose up but i think that mite very on the plane the the amount of thrust the engines produce the Pratt & Whitney JT8D-217C engines on the MD-87 are very powerful thus the MD-80's have a very high clime out angle

  • Nice video, thanks for posting.

  • Did you even read the title? it says were doing a "Tail strike test"

  • in fact it is a test of minimum speed take-off so the pilot has to rotate as soon as possible

  • Its a test

  • ur morons!

  • Who? Me, them, or all of us?

  • no, just the voices in my head

  • Do they tell you the lottery numbers, I'll split it with you.

  • I wish they did LOL

  • Awesome !

  • This is the topic that we looking at currently in my Aeronautical engineering degree.

  • As compared to what, the Dehavilland Comet maybe?

  • How can you have so much aeronautical expertise, and not be able to spell a 4 letter word? Just wondering.

  • @TJDOZIER1

First of all i am dutch so i dont speak inglish alot ;)

and second of all i have dislexia.

  • @mitchellboon Crap american planes won three wars you dick. Stealth ohhhhh yeah thats american..... I would love to see you face 2 face. If it was from your country the damn thing would have broke apart on the first strike.

  • @Aviator1111 dude a guy sad crap american planes and its a reaction on that guy because i love american planes.and dutch planes are also good ;)

we have the fokker 100,70,50 and much more

  • @mitchellboon WBU Airbus ? i Love Boing, Airbus And MD's =D

  • look at your british planes crashing short of the runway........

i guess 9/11 had crap american planes too.

the planes we use, you use to so its really crap british planes as well.

  • @nextofkin99 Crap American planes? I think this would be an indication that American planes aren't crappy, because they have gone through tests. Just as your A380 has. Dumbass.

  • wow almost stall

  • You are the worst every made.

  • No more than you!!!!

  • hahah moran!

  • oww my ass

  • OK, I changed the name to VMU test, I wouldnt want anybody to be confused and think an MD-87could do a wheelie.

  • :) ,....

  • That is called a VMU test, they try to get the plane off the ground at the highest angle of attack on the wings possible to see how fast they could take off if something was infront of them. Like another jet.

  • Dont call me a retard...it's insulting to the retarded people!

  • I think it is called VMU test.

  • As a recent comment stated this is a correct title for the test in the video. It is a minimum unstick speed test, or what is the absolute minimum speed needed to rotate and take-off under a specific set on conditions.

  • Lovely!

  • Why do that?

  • EEKKK

  • exactly!!!
