  • This was a good documentary. Thanks for uploading it.

  • I live in China, I am American. That means My family America years ago. After being here for 6 years, I know Governments are looking for who ever they can to pass blame on anyone but themselves. My Chinese friends, family and co workers are no different then mine in America. we both blame our leaders for being rich and power hungry. It is not the people that are the problem, but the lies they pass to us to hate someone else when the real problem has been the mistakes our governments have made.

  • Olenka is such a wanker. Why waste your time here commenting on a video that you hate? You need to find better things to do.

  • Well, there you have it, what the director of C.S.I.S. said about Canadian politicians receiving bribes from China. Now we can count The National Film Board of Canada as just another organ of Chinese propaganda.

  • i just want to say, fuck the new world order!

  • awol not me

  • Its touching how human and compassionate the Chinese people are. Its moving to hear how they treated the prisoners of war. After watching this video it makes me want to visit China myself.

  • @overseezer just some cautions: in general Chinese people are shy, and do not initiate talks to strangers especially foreigners. Exceptions are young people, or people trying to sell you stuff, or try to marry you to immigrate. If you want to visit China, please go with a friend who has been there (which much improves the experience), and try to visit small, lesser-known, less developed cities. The major big cities will look like more chaotic (less tidier) versions of US cities basically.

  • @OscarLiu24 That is true. I am a Chinese native from a small town.

  • @overseezer You either work for the Chinese or you are one gullible stupid fuck! The Chinese tortured prisoners of war and tried to brainwash them. Don't you recognize propaganda when you see it?

  • @Mujangga Listen to yourself, you're either one of theirs or one of us. What kind of person talks like that? you sound more like a programed machine than those you speak ill of. I'm an American and I want freedom for all those who choose to seek it, but I don't want to shove it down their throat just because I believe its a better way to live.

  • have a good sleep buddy, we will see you later

  • Nixon was a genius to visit China in 72.

  • interesting video. shame they wont be able to watch it in china.

  • @patsyd80 i am watching this in China now

  • @patsyd80 In China, you can always find a way to watch Youtube on web, which was admitted potentially by the government..

  • those peace haters still rule the US.

  • @gengar77 It's determined by US's huge benefits asking from the military companies. They determine the war.

  • So big capitalistic arrogant mobsters of China (who run like pussies during losing gambling times) keep the masses in poverty while they steal from the people money through hardwork and near slavery conditions so they can live a high time in the usa with 5 thousand dollar a bet in Indian Casinos. They can go to hell. I see why the media kisses the asses of the mobsters that do this. Keep the people seperated in war like predjudices and you keep some very wealthy and the rest,us, strong spirits.

  • amazing story.

  • The Western media downplays on China's image. Do you know what happened to the Japanese children who were lost and left in China after the Japanese retreated during the end of the second Sino-Japanese war? The Chinese people took care of them and saw them as their own. Some of them, after they've grown up, they left for Japan. But do you see a cover story of such an event in your news? No, you only get this Free Tibet crap.

  • @Graymoths - it is good that they took care about Japanese childeren after WW2, but it is bad that they invaded Tibet, it is bad that they censon the Internet, that they jail or execute people only because they do not agree with the government. It is also bad that they force pregnat women to have abortion (even in 8th month) if they are pregnant with a second child. If one of the things I mentioned is not true - just tell me.

  • @OlenkaWagner Wake up, my friend. Which other country is perfect? Infact, I've heard and witnessed worst events than that in other countries. For one, Australia filters the internet. Why aren't you complaning about that? The British invaded SEVERAL countries, why not a word on that? My country has a law that allows it to jail individuals for any period of time and for whatever reason, why is there no mention of this in the Western media?

  • @Graymoths - you mentioned some countries doing ONE of the things I mentioned, but China does ALL these things. You haven't mentioned any other country forcing women to have abortion, because China is unique in this case. As for filtering the Internet in Australia - I don't know details. If they just filter hard pornography and/or texts explicedly promoting hate - this is OK. I mean political censorship - censoring those who express criticism about the government.

  • @OlenkaWagner Until your country is perfect, you really have little rights to apply your own standards to another country. Don't try sugar-coating the other countries who does the exact same thing you accuse China of. Only China forces abortion on little girls? Are you kidding me, seriously? There exists social stigmas in other countries too were in poverty, male infants are preferred.

  • @Graymoths - only china forces abortion on married women only because they already have one child. Yes, that's true. In other countries it can be social pressure, but never legal pressure. In my country abortion is allowed in some restricted cases only and even in that case women are never forced to have an abortion. In countries were abortion is allowed on request, it is also not the case that women are forced to have an abortion. So China is unique in this case.

  • @OlenkaWagner Then what do you propose for China to do? It has a population of more than 1.3 BILLION people. The policy has a reason to be there, and it isn't there to restrict ethnic minorities like Tibetans. The only problem I see here is the social stigma involved with having male infants, but that's patriachal society for you. Plus, the government doesn't directly forces people to abort female infants in favour of male ones at all. I don't see your point.

  • @Graymoths - there were cases of direct forcing abortion. I am not talking about selective abortion. No solution can involve killing people. If their population is growing they should develop settlement on less populated areas or they should allow people to emigrate. There are different methods not involving criminal solutions.

  • @OlenkaWagner They are doing exactly just that. But everytime they want to expand their settlements, idiots like the Free Tibet protestors and Muslim extremists take it as a reason to cry about their dying culture and what not. So what other solution do you have in mind?

  • @Graymoths - Getting rid of Tibet and the areas populated by the minorities would be also a solution. Deviding a country to smaller parts would be a solution.

  • @OlenkaWagner No, it doesn't. Getting rid of Tibet solves what? Their lack of serfom under the Dalai Lama? China is already split into several provinces. If by your logic, Chinese people begin to move into less populated areas like Tibet then .. You should just see what happened in Manchuria. Zit. Too bad there was no Free-Manchuria protesters then.

  • @Graymoths - Maybe Tibet was wider publicized, it's true, but the reason is that Tibet was de facto independent for a long time. If the people of Manchuria want to be independent, they should also publicize their wishes. I am not against.

  • @OlenkaWagner Actually the truth is, they were independent a LONG time ago, before the Mongols annexed them into their empire, which slowly crumbled into several states. The one that still got a hold of China was the Yuan dynasty, before it fell to rebellions made by the Ming, which eventually fell to the Qing and so forth until it is still incorporated into China's territory today. The only difference is that it enjoys some autonomy during the Qing. No country has ever recognized it as independ

  • @OlenkaWagner At this point, I think it's only fair that you know I am of Chinese descent, but I live in a non-Communist country. This really gives me two perspectives on various issues and I must say .. I am convinced the Western media is very biased, especially when it comes to subjects about China. I know many other people who feel the same.

  • @Graymoths - Actually I wanted to ask you if you are Chinese, but I was wondering if it would be polite and you answered for me. I knew one Chinese person from Malaysia. It was a long time ago. I understand you idealize the country of your ancestors. I have nothing against Chinese as people, but I detest communism and any totalitarian systems in general. When I was a visiting student in England I made friends with Chinese people from Singapore and Hong Kong.

  • @OlenkaWagner It's fine. Idealize is not the right word .. Actually, Overseas Chinese people with a traditional background like me, have an innate HATRED for China. All of my relatives absolutely hate China with passion, because they figured it must've been a horrible place to make us migrate. Many of us (especially our Indonesian coounterparts) choose not to speak Chinese at all due to this hatred. But relations are becoming better today, you see.

  • @OlenkaWagner Btw, I do agree with you about Chinese people not having access to Youtbe. But have YOU ever wondered about how the Chinese community online is like and what information they share everyday? Most likely, you do not. And the same applies to the Chinese online community, they don't really care and the few that does can find methods on coming to YT. I have a classmate from Guangdong, China who had accessed it once, but I never did ask him how. He was talking to me about some YT video.

  • @Graymoths - I have nothing against one's own community services. I wouldn't mind if people were more interested in their home services than outside services. But people should have free access to any Internet services (except of hard porn or sites explicedly advocating hate, but active promotion of hate must not be confused with even harsh criticism, which should be allowed.

  • @OlenkaWagner Oh, please. The things you had said are true and just, but really, who follows them anymore? Corruption is abound everywhere. I did a paper on the judiciary system in our country, and I was so surprised at all the things I discovered. Do you know that there are laws that are still based on "race", in countries, such as mine? Meaning that the government favour a certain group over other groups. That is pure racism, but it exists in our constitution. Heck, it is enshrined in it.

  • @Graymoths - I have heard from my Chinese friend from Malaysia about discriminating certain nationality groups. This is wrong, but that is not the reason you should idealize China. I do not understand what your point is? That China is not the worse? Sure, there are countries with worse situation. That China has more freedom then your country? I am not sure. I've seen the map were press freedom is show. Your country is marked as bad, but China as very bad. E.g. Taiwan is markes as good.

  • @OlenkaWagner Just because I am Chinese doesn't mean I idealize China. You need to make that clear to yourself. Like i had menntioned in the comment below, it's quite that opposite. Secondly, it's really a feverish tendency in human nature to see what is good and bad. In truth, there is no such thing. Just what is and what is not. China for one, is not inheritantly bad.

  • @Graymoths im also oversea chinese. it is sad that most of us are not proud to be chinese. Every govt in CHina are a bunch of pigs, they only care about themselves. I was born in shanghai and we will do really great if we could get independence from China

  • @diabolico5 Most Westerners don't realize that Overseas Chinese are different from Mainlanders. Overseas Chinese mostly have a harsh time back in the mainland and chooses to run away from it all. But the distinction is blurred, and now, many of us Overseas Chinese are torn between our motherland and our new homes ..

  • @Graymoths - no my idea was populating ares NOT populated at all.

  • @OlenkaWagner Then what about the reserves for nature and natural resources? What if they are depleted? What if the animal rights activists start complaining about the lost of habitats? Face it. If you were in China's position right now, you would understand why it has done so. Taking down the policy will only cause more problems and that's something China does not want.

  • @Graymoths - Murdering people (abortion in 8th month is murder) can never be justified, not even to protect natural resources. I work in environmental branch, but whenever human life is at stake, I would chose human life to natural resources.

  • @OlenkaWagner If you value human life you would know the value to natural resources. Natural resources, such as rare metals (China produces 90% of the world's rare metals) are crucial to China's growth. With a lack of those natural resources, China's growth would fall. We both know that China has a huge gap between the rich and the poor, therefore events such as famines could well occur. And it had.

  • @Graymoths - But there are some methods that can never be accepted, regardless economic benefit.

  • @OlenkaWagner It's not about the economy, it's about stability. You'll find that word quite often when China talks about its decisions. I care and value life just as you do, but some things just cannot be changed without some form of compromise. If people were a little more understanding to China instead of downplaying it, then I am sure China would agree to such suggestions. But at this point, it is only thinking of its own survival and success.

  • @OlenkaWagner And about political censorship, in countries like Malaysia, we cannot openly criticize our government, this includes on the internet. Take the effort to see what happened to people like Nathaniel Tan. An anonymous person left a comment that criticized the gov on his blog. AN ANONYMOUS comment. Yet still, he was arrested. Blind ignorance, really. You're just jumping on the bandwagon to criticize China cause your media encourages so.

  • @Graymoths - arresting Nathaniel Tan was definitely wrong. However, he was realeased shortly after his arrest. In China, this year Nobel Prize Winner received a jail sentence of 11 years. Another thing is that in China the Internet is PREVENTIVELY censored. In Polish press there are different articles about China. Some are critical and some are praising China for economic development. There are also some in between.

  • @Graymoths - In China you wouldn't have the access to YT at all. Of course, what your country is doing is bad and I will not justfy it. But as I said: countries you mentioned did one of the things I listed and China did all of them. Of course, China is not the only country violating human rights. But this is the most powerful and the most populated country of those violating human rights, thus it is dangerous and draws more attention than other countries.

  • @OlenkaWagner You do know that China has the highest number of internet users? Chinese people in general (and I don't mean "Bananas") have their own "version" of the internet. That is, with their own social-networking sites, their own search engines and certainly many more websites which serves the purpose of Youtube. So, really, I don't see the flaw at all because I have all the tools i need that does the same thing.

  • @Graymoths - What do you mean by "Bananas"? I know they use Internet a lot, but they have no access to websites criticizing Chinese government of Communist Party or so on. They have no access to this particular service (YT) as well.

  • @OlenkaWagner "Bananas" are what Chinese people consider other Chinese or Asian individuals who cannot write and speak in their native language, in favour of a Western language, usually English. Therefore, these individuals do not usually mix with the "Asian" Asian people on the internet. In other words, they are alienated .. in a way.

  • Very interesting documentary - thanks for posting!

  • @alanheath - It is interesting, but if someone watched it without any knowledge about the Korean War he/she would make a totally false image of the war. The documentary is very one-sided and the emotional tone of the comentator sounds very unprofesional. Nevertheless, it is interesting to watch another point of view.

  • @OlenkaWagner Yes, it is not mentioned once that North Korea started it with its unprovoked agression against the South. 22 of our side may have gone over to the communists but thousands of northern POWs opted for the south. The reason why the war dragged on for two more years was because of the issue of the POWs and where they should be returned to!

  • Great documentary!!

  • Great documentary -- heartwarming stories of such brave men who withstood such ignorance in their homeland. The documentary gives me hope that there are still those who treasure international understanding and peace above all else.

  • @arentolfinance - the documentary might have been "heartwarming" if it was true. It is only a small percentage of truth 21 POWs out of several thousand. Those who refused to colaborate were not treated so well.

  • @OlenkaWagner What parts of the documentary were false?

  • @arentolfinance - if certain important facts are not mentioned, even if there is no false information provided - the document is false.

  • @OlenkaWagner Thanks for the comment, Olenka. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, misguided though it may be.

  • @arentolfinance - OK, you suggest I am misguided, but could you deny the fact that only those prisoners who agreed to cooperate received good treatment. Do you deny that the facts of mistreatment took place? If not, don't you think that failing to mention them gives the false image?

  • China Jia You!

  • War is difficult, it can be complex, and with no clear cut sides for who is the good or bad guys.

  • Do these old men really don't know why we fought North Korea? North Korea invaded South Korea for territorial and communist conquest. South Korea had America as a powerful allied and the North Koreans knew this! The war was nasty but i do not think it was unnecessary. If it wasn't for us, South Korea would be a part of the brutal comminist North Korea. We gave South Korea freedom and democracy!

  • @Icedude91 north korea and south korea were created temporarily by the united stares and russsia. when a country is in civil war other countries should not intervine...we didnt give them freedom we gave them democracy...and we all know the united states was founded under a republic and not democracy

  • @LADORSEY - Can you just answer a question: would it be a good course of events if the North Korea overwhelmed the whole country. North Korean regime is one of the most oppressive in the world. If the hadn't been the intervention the whole country would have been like that. South Korea might be still far from the ideals of democracy and human rights, but it is incomparably better than North Korea.

  • @OlenkaWagner ITS NOT for us to decide its for the people of north and south korea to decide what they want as far as communism or democracy. again south korea is incomparably better then norrth korea but only because united states and its allies have a blokade againts that country ...look at china right now ,its a super power so communism cant be all that bad...we have a democracy and our rights our slowly being taking away from us .

  • @LADORSEY - I don't think blocade is the only issue. During communism there was no blocade, because comunist countries helped and the country was also much worse than the south. Communism is simply very inefficient. China is a communist country, but introduced a lot of capitalist economy.

  • @LADORSEY - I think we can decide for the people of a country if they abuse human rights e.g. in the way communists or nazists did. Well, you didn't deny that if there hadn't been intervention the whole country would be more similar to the North.

  • @OlenkaWagner what about americans lives do you think we should fight communism on all fronts and risk losing american lives and what about russia during ww2 stalin was responsible for killing millions of russians under the communist regime yet they where our allies. that seems like a double standard dont you agree

  • @LADORSEY - The problem of WW2 is complicated. It should be looked from the perspective of those times, there was a fight between two totalitarianisms. It is difficult to say which one was worse. I agree that at certain point it could have been OK to help Soviets, but I think Western Allies went too far in it. They helped in covering up the Katyn massacre in order not to compromise the aliance. They agreed to divide the world. They sold out central Europe. They did many wrong things.

  • However I think they did a right thing to intervene in Korea. The Korean war partially opened the eyes of people in the West in the relation to communism. Despite this video, most POWs were treated very badly and thousands of them did not survive. I think ordinary people had an opportunity to see what communism really is. Then other tragedies caused by communist came and more people woke up. But there are some who will never wake up...

  • @OlenkaWagner I agree the American prisoners were treated very well, some stayed in 5-star hotels and the Koreans were asked to wash dishes. So Sad. Eventually all american became communist because Christ approves of communists.

  • @LADORSEY American aerospace and wireless labs are responsible for killing countless and driving many insane to satiate their research goals. No one ever speaks about how to deprogram a serial killer after he has been programmed. Or how about a slave forced into espionage at an early age. How about captured to be a witness of how effective the energy weapons and psychological warfare programs are, so they can sell more .In an electronic war that few see. Suffering for years is worse than death!

  • @Nueroactive - some conspiracy theory? "How about captured to be a witness of how effective the energy weapons and psychological warfare programs are, " - souds very senstional, but evidence is needed.

  • Comment removed

  • @Nueroactive - what do you mean by "my own nation"?

  • @Icedude91

Koreans gave themselves democracy when they reformed after a string of authoritarian leaders.

As for these blokes, a few categories...

    1. Clarence Adams: This guy has the best reason

    2. Guys who wanted to stay and marry: Sure, communism, capitalism. Who gives a fuck. Good women. Defect and fuck.

    3. People who were true blue reds: Well, enjoy your communism.

  • I have nothing against chinese people, ive heard they are very friendly folks :) I just really hate their regime!

  • This was very well put together.

  • love the video thank you for sharing. This really shaped my new world view about humanity

  • Those that stayed behind were traitors !

  • This whole documentary was excellent. China and America aside... this is a phenomenal story of humanity.

  • funny how he came back to the USA!

  • most american young people still think that Chinese are bad because they are communist. some discriminate to China because of communist party. So, Stupid.

  • All humans are evil. Only God is good. If I said this in China, what would the Chinese government do to me?

  • you wanna know? go to the Beijing and shout on the street with the speaker naked. don't forget to bring your family. You will Know.

  • Why would I want to do it naked? I would not want to inflict the sight of my ugly body on any of my fellow human beings. Besides, I saw on the news where Beijing is getting a lot of snow this year, I would get frostbite and pneumonia!!

  • well, if you wanna know your quest. thats my advise

  • @neptunisregis11 nothing gonna happen

  • I don't know what most of youg Americans think, as a midle-aged European I just can say that I don't think people of any particular nation are good or bad. The problem is with the government and political system. A Communist one-party political system, with strong censorship and repressions towards those who would like to criticize the system IS BAD.

  • and usa dont censor its people?? what do you think cia will do if the catch you with a marx book? dont be idiot woman

  • There are some Marxists in US and they are not persecuted. If you think the opposite give examples of people who were imprisoned in US for their political views.

  • yes they were

  • For political VIEWS? Or for blocking roads, getting into someone else's property or what exactly? Simply give some examples.

  • @pirufihho... Uh, you can buy the communist manifesto at ANY American book store, along with Das Kapital, and any other book for that matter.

  • @pirufihho they wont do anything

  • well they had, look at the film farenheit 9/11 a guy was talking bad about bush and cia came to his home

  • Comment removed

  • so simple. American and Europe people can't stand or they are scared of communist ok? the communist system is not like your nationalist. it is politic, if you win, you can control and take over the economy or some like that. i just look at your profile, and read the comment you post about china, lol you are so pathetic, you told me that who would like to criticize the system is bad. haha. and you told the other different story. you are fucking shitty head.

  • But you are unable to say what you like about the communist system. The only thing you can say are insults.

  • "you told me that who would like to criticize the system is bad." - no, I said it is bad to persecute people who criticize a system. You misunderstood me. I think that criticism should be allowed. It is allowed in US and Europe, but not in China.

  • Thank you - Beautiful moving story of the humanity we all must nurture if the human race is to survive.

  • 真精彩!!

  • Yes, afspk9 - as a warning against manipulation.

  • So sad the elderly man died. :( He was a wonderful soul it seems. RIP my comrades and yes they are hero's who shouldn't be forgotten. Sad not many people talk about them. :( God bless my comrades and keep fighting for peace.

  • If China was so great, then why did they come back to the good ole U.S.A.?

  • I'm sure he has his reason's. Probably family and the like. They all give reason's. Mr Adams came back cause of the cultural revolution and he was worried for his family. Watch the video.

  • Wouldn't you want to return to your home where your family resides?

  • some racial inequality still exists, yet this video has brought me new hope for these times of war,i hope not the wrong people discover this video,i think more people should be for peace,i would like a chinese education,im sure i would learn more than what the public education sytem has taught me,

  • POW First Class: Back from Vietnam.....Heros

POW No Class: Back from China :.......Traitors

    -----quoted from Pantagon

  • people dont fight with people!! war only starts becas goverments fight with goverments

  • very touching

  • It is Elephant and Donkey fight. It all about idealology. Both US and Chinese government tried to make their people have better place to life. No one like war. But sometimes, we are all forced to fight to protect our life and our people

  • These are true heroes....bridging the differences between two countries...

  • This is such a depressing and heart-warming story at the same time. I wish more people get to see this documentry and actually learn the truth.

  • there was such great emotion in Veneris' voice and eyes when he was at the korean war memorial, to me, it was the highlight of the documentary.

  • With my tears in eyes when the oldman visit his buddy tomb, really touching movie

  • Great documentary.

  • It is interesting how he predicted that China will overtake the United States....in 1957.

  • yeah, that kid is a angle from god

  • angel not angle lol

  • yea i was totally taken by surprised when he said that too, specially given the conditions china was in back in the 50s, he was truly farsighted

  • Thats what you think..

  • Thank you. This is great.

  • This is amazing documentary. Thanks for sharing.

  • What a moving story! USA and China should be friends.

  • i have never heard this story, and now i learnt another thing, thx for uploading

  • its just another american propaganda campaign. just like we were with russia. do you feel safer after 9/11? not really becasue all our troops are out country our military is weakened due 2 this war. and the patriot act limits our freedoms!!! we must repeal it and give More freedom back 2 the citizens before we move closer to a police state.

i hate how the U.S. talks about how important dialouge is with other countries but then decides to do what they want regardless of the consequenses.

  • Aww, that's sad he didn't get to visit with him before he died. War is a terrible thing, americans are warmongers. Rarely do we try to go about with diplomatic situations, we just declear war. USA needs to change soon.

  • China is not anywhere close to what most westerners think it is like. Chinese people are very friendly and forgiving.

  • @iamfumanchu i agree. i have been to china twice.

  • Thank you for putting this out. This is great...i have tears in my eyes

  • China! isnt that bad America! boycootyourmom! =D

  • If China is as bad as US and its allies portrait, Chinese population wouldn't grow from 650 million then to 1.4 billion today while being one of the few strongest economies in the world. Western propagandas simply make no common sense!
