  • Thankyou for this video, it was a really good informative vid on seam piping. <3

  • If you pipe a border like this on a wedding cake, the professional decorators will notice that you don't know how to pipe. The "nipple" effect on each dot is considered undesirable in the world of cake finishing. Do your best to stop squeezing and pull the tip off in a circular motion to minimize this look.

  • @meaningfulrice Maybe she meanted that way?? I've seen this nipples at many others cakes, too.

  • @alvachristians I suppose anything is possible! ;) I will only tell you that in all of my professional training and experience, this would either make you fail your piping test or not allow you to finish cakes in the high end shops. Still...bet it tastes delicious!

  • @meaningfulrice You are absolutely right! What is your professional training? Sounds interesting! Im a homebaker for a year and a half now, and I've bought a baking book and a cake decorating one. Im very excited 'cause am learning a lot.

  • @alvachristians My mother decorated cakes when I was a kid so I started piping for fun at age 5. I was lucky that my local community college had an outstanding pastry program that I attended (and it saved me from having $40,000 debt from some of those advertised schools). I worked for years in several high end bakeries and cake shops- always focused on finishing cakes- not restaurant desserts. I have been out of the business for a few years now but still manage to make an occasional cake for fun

  • good.

  • I really want to punch everyone asking "Why would you eat a cake with wooden dowels in it?" If you have been to a wedding where their was a multi teir cake you have!!!!!

  • Have any of you ever even been to a wedding? The dowels mean nothing to those eating the cake.

The bride and groom cut a piece off, eat it, and then the people that made the cake take it apart, cut it into servings for everyone, and then return it all ready to be eaten.

  • i know she has arthritis [;

  • Do you have to put dowels in the first tier of a two tiered cake?..Is it necessary?

  • I'm thankful for talented people like her because I can't even begin to list the different ways I would screw this project up.

  • looks like buttercream definitely not fondant

  • what is it the cake covered with?

is that fondant or just striaght up buttercream frosting?

  • @hjbald That is butter cream.

  • watch bake decorate celebrate and learn how to do it, its really not that hard.

  • I could do anything like that, just looking at her putting those tiny little blobs of icing makes me wanna bury my head in a pillow

  • no offence, but the cake looks really fake.

  • yeah, it looks so perfect and symetrical, that is the skill in it

  • it´s beautiful

  • that dotted seam thing looks lik it would take 4EVER!!! how does one work through that!?!?!

  • I know it looks soooo boring! I would listen to my iPod or something like that.

  • There sure is a lot of wooden sticks in that...

  • but who the hell has big enough refridgerator to keep that cake cold through the night like she said :P

  • @vuldafer you do realize that the cake had to be assembled... if you fidge the individual pieces you have a big enough refidgerator

  • @CatBonner13 But you can't assemble it after it's done, can you? I mean with the decorations and all that

  • @vuldafer OHHHHH i thought you meant before its done. ... i beleive you can fit it in a regular fridge ... the grates/shelves you have in a normal fridge are able to be taken out to make room. that or take it to antie mays to store hahaha

  • @vuldafer someone who makes wedding cakes obviously...

  • @vuldafer alot of restaurants and bakeries have large walk-in refrigerators for multiple courses or large courses such as this cake

  • @vuldafer I guess you put them in the refrigerator before stacking the layers

  • yummy....

  • THIS IS COOL!

  • how are you ment to eat it with the wooden sticks in it?

  • when u get to them u get them out

    I THINK

  • That's exactly what I wondered...

  • @darkroge you usually don't cut into the cake enough to get to the dowels right away. And when you do get to them, they're fairly easy to notice and you can just take them out.

  • @darkroge You're not. Dun DUN DAAAAA. lol

  • @darkroge Becouse you eat a SMALL piece of it, and from top to the bottom, you can take the sticks out before eating a new layer. Easy as hell. (:

  • @Saaraparas lol I wrote that 2 years ago. I know your meant to eat small pieces I have been to weddings, It was a joke comment but thanks anyway :)

  • i looove watching people spread icing

  • the cake looks fake .

  • and you know ofc, from the pixels and having seen quite a few fake cakes in your time

  • for my wedding one of the main things that i want to do to make mine and my fiances day personal and more special is to make the cake myself, and hope he wants to help. what is the best cake batter to use to make it more sturdy, also do you recomend fondent or icing?

  • Definitely use icing (royal or buttercream.) Fondant, while it definitely gives cakes a more smoother and polished appearance with less of a hassle, from my experience it really doesn't taste that good at all.

  • Fondant that tastes bad is Wilton fondant. It is also the easiest to find. All other fondants are delicious! You can even make it home-made and there are instructions on here how to make it from marshmallows and powdered sugar, what could be bad about that?

  • That is a horrible idea! I am an experienced cake decorator and did my own wedding cake, and it was a nightmare! I can only imagine what kind of mess you would make of your cake when you have no idea what you are doing. It won't be special, unless you mean special, like "Special Olympics" kind of special. It takes a lot of practice!!!

  • can u give me a good frosting recipe. The cake looks great

  • can you offer a good cake recipe? I would love to try this.

  • Hey if you don't do this but once in a life time using a good duncan hines recipe your favorite flavor, with a box of pudding per box makes a wonderful cake just calculate how many cups per layer of your cake and mix accordingly
