YES THANK YOU, you have said every thing i always thought was wrong with yaoi. some of them are not like that (wild rock) but like 93% of them are just clones of each other, it drives me crazy! also most of it is porn but the ones that don't have sex in them can really be good, like "CUT" or "HOW CUTE" (ok that last one has sex but the story is amazing and so not a clone). and i don't know about you but i HAT the pretty boy look that's all over anime and yaoi, why can't guys just look like guys.

I understand your opinion and its fine that you don't like it. The point is all forms of entertainment are repetitive and derivative. Accept it as it is, sometimes anime is ridiculous. Some of it seems exactly the same, deal with it.

I don't think their's anything wrong with porn. Anyways, I would like to recommend you some gay stories Ellen. I hope you'll perhaps take a look at them. Future Lovers actually deals with the consequences of being gay lovers in Japan. Zankoku na Kami ga Shihaisuru is a great story and it does require you to use your brain. If you read it you'll see what I mean.

I agree with everything you said here. Here's an experience I had: Last month I met a yaoi fan. One of her other friends came up to me and asked what yaoi was, and I told her it was pornographic comics about gay men, or more or less that. I find out that this girl watches yaoi because she doesn't like straight couples, but I find it odd that she chooses something distasteful and unrealistic that exploits gay relationships. Like you, I don't understand why people have deep feelings for it.

I actually kinda like yaoi but on a certain level, like I find it cute when it's just two characters like snuggling nothing dirty or anything, like those fanmade cute pictures are nice but those dirty ones are disturbing... O.O!

Thank you for this great video . I pretty much hate yaoi for the same reasons you do -the whole seme/uke thing is pretty insulting and unrealistic . Many fangirls really don't understand that yaoi isn't a real life depiction of homo relationships which is quite sad and many fail to acknowledge that yaoi is, as you said, basically porn. But I would like to point out that yaoi is supposed to bad and any story having gays that deviates from the norm of a yaoi plot is wouldn't be considered yaoi.

Yeah I know in Japan yaoi is just porn but in the states we use it at a catch-all term for a story were there's a male same-sex relationship, so I'm talking about that. I'm talking a little about a lot.

I agree with you. I've been a long time BL fan, but I'm tired of all the reused character types and thinly veiled excuses for porn. If you want to read a titles where the characters are characters instead of just being fetish objects I recommend I Give to You by Maki Ebishi, Kumo to Intera and Amanto Amaro by Basso, No Touching At All by Yoneda Kou, and Antique Bakey by Fumi Yoshinaga (it's not BL but there is a gay character who is not solely defined as a gay character. I hope that helps!
