at the end of this video you should have shorted the other coil with both rings in place i would suspect the upper ring would be repelledas the lower ring attracted.
OH, I see your just using that to see what is happening on the one that has the motor running. So you have like a view of what happens to inductance. OK! That is about the first part of video, study in transformer step up and step down magnetic fields.
It's always interesting when you can make that physical view match the theory.
coil shorting sure is interesting stuff. a mate of mine told me on some high quality transformers there is a closed shield of metal around the coils that acts as a one turn shorted coil.
