wow these aussies have so much time and money into there rx3s but i have 15gz total into a stock fc stock 2 rotor block with only meth injection , turbo upgrade with micro tech computer and diffrent fuel rails and i run 10.00 al day long and at 40 lbs boost i run 9.40 most fo those cars are fully moded nd only run 9.0 thast nto even fast if i had the same car i coudl make it go 6.99 for tyhat time and money spent

all engines have problems, some more than others. the 13b's 12a's and the 20b's have them more than most. yes they fail, but it is still pretty cool that an engine that's not piston powered can make that kind of power. but knowing that Its not perfect i am still putting a 13b in my Miata and I'll leave the v8's for my truck and my mustang. rotors are still an amazing engine, and it takes some one with heart to build one, even when they fail we stick with them. I'm not disrespecting, just sayn

nah mate, its 4. it has all 4 stages of combustion in Intake, compression, power and exhaust. they just happen in a circle not up and down. the difference is that on 1 movine piece there is 3 chambers for combustion. sorry, don't mean to argue but i know my rotaries! :P

that has nothing to do with 2 stroke or 4 stroke. by your definition then a 2 stroke is a 4 stroke. each down stroke of a 2 cycle is a combustion cycle were a 4 stroke is every other. a rotary fires as many times as a 2 stroke engine with the same amount of combustion chambers such as a 6 cyl. if a rotary was a 4 stroke it would fire every other combustion chamber.

there are 4 stages in the combustion cycle. 2-stroke has the first 2 stages occur in the same stroke etc, and 4 stoke has each stage occur separately. rotary engines are 4 stoke as each stage occurs in a different quarter of the epitrochoid (housing). the spark plugs fire in between the compression and power stages just like any other engine, be it 2 or 4 stroke. but all stages happen separately, therefore has FOUR 'strokes', not 2.

why can't you guys just agree that both engines are good. so, ok the rotary has better p/w ratio than the piston, and can be built to rev much higher than a piston. the only problems i see with rotaries is that compression is a little soft and they don't burn as efficiently, but the R&D team at mazda has been making leaps and bounds in those departments. if you really want a nice engine idea, look up a quasiturbine. horsepower is horsepower, no matter how it's made. we're done now, no more...
