@kcox669live To each his own. We boil 'em! :) Freshwater crabs are almost always boiled. Kind crabs and other cold/salt water crabs are usually steamed, though -- you're deff correct, there. :)
Looks like good eating to me! I'm from Louisiana to but I moved to Maryland last year and I sure am missing the crawfish boils! Lol! We caught some crabs yesterday and we gonna boil them up today!!! Everyone around here steams them...we're gonna show them how coonasses do it! Lol! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
May seem like a lot of salt, but believe me it's not. Between all the corn, potatoes, mushrooms and crabs, they all soak up the seasoning and the salt.
The crabs were already cleaned. Also, the boiling process fully cleans them, and, since we dispose of the water, it is safe not to clean them. We crab in clear, fresh water -- so it's not like crawfish where they're full of mud.
@xtexred No what i meant was in Texas we take the top shell off the crab and pick the guts out and all the extremeties then was it down with a water hose so when you eat the meat there is no foul taste. On the other hand i have never eaten them the way they have so i dont know of the taste.
@casinohijack ...My family like the flavor the fat adds....we also don't dispose of the top shell.....we clean them post-boiling, both for looks (bc they turn a pretty shade of red) and for sanitary reasons....and then we stuff them, like deviled crabs. :) I don't know anyone who does it otherwise. Are y'all eating freshwater or brackish crabs? Is there brackish water in Texas? LOL Maybe that's a silly question? LOL That's interesting, how y'all pre-shell -- thx for sharing the fun fact!
@casinohijack You don't have to clean blue crabs before boiling them. It's how you want them. I eat them either way cleaned before or after aslong as i eat some crabs i'm good,
@casinohijack Texas eh? The only thin that comes out of Texas is steers and queers boy! No but really, you don't need to clean crabs! They are a saltwater species, they arent muddy like crawfish.
Why do the trees lean west in Louisiana? Because Texas sucks!!!!!
@cjleger337 True story i have pictures of the trees that are outside the Houston Exxon building there all growing in the direction away from the building. I thought there must be some bad energy coming from that building if nature wants to get away from it.
Yes, you can find them in lakes, bayous, and some swamps. They're so diff't from saltwater crabs. The shells are far easier to crack, and teh meat is a lot sweeter.
no no no, try the select crawfish company's (kenner louisiana) boiling seasoning, chacheres is delicious but I tell ya, the homemade seafood boil is out of this world and I'll be honest they will be the best crabs you ever put in your mouth I gaurantee it.
Haven't tried the select crawfish seasoning, but I have been using the mix from Captain Sids in Bucktown for years and It's the best I've tried yet. May give the select a try, but I'll have to get over the feeling of cheating on my woman kinda thing. I got real loyal to Captain Sids, but hey, the amount of boils I have I'm sure I can squeeze a new recipe in.
