@mattb609 actually its a modified p-51D. the P variant had a teardrop canopy, the B has a 'raised back' to where the cockpit is blended into the fuesalage.this is just modified for racing. i dont know alot so dont criticize me.
@GrigoriZhukov so then the raised edge is a modification that is made to increase aerodynamics. well it makes sense, i just thought it would have started as a C, figure it might be less work. but if it started as a D, well then i learned something! thanks for clarifying.

as an Italian American, i take offense to the name of this airplane, its an oughtright slur! would you even dare to name it nigger black? or spic brown? they why should italian americans be any different?
YUP it was that fast, I got to see the new owner make several laps around the field, at St George, Ut, when he picked it up. You could hear it for miles. It was awesome!!! Don
lol.. those people standing there watching dont seem like they even have the knowledge to really enjoy the P51... they are like.. whooptydoo a prop plane.
According to the history of Dago Red, it started out as a P-51D. Now, I'd say it is more Dago Red than Mustang.

I am Italian American and we named our kids Dago1, Dago2, and Dago3. We have another on the way and we are going to name him Little Guido.
