  • @GraniteCityCitizen True, even the best of organizations have a few bad apples. Tom Balash happens to be one of Schwans bad apples. I started Schwans with a good attitude and had no problem with working long days. I then find out that Balash had lied to me. I also had a complete ass for an LGM. In my book, Tom Balash is a snake and a liar.

  • @GraniteCityCitizen You obviously have never worked for Schwans. Marvin Schwan would be spinning in his grave if he knew what was going on with his company. Lies, verbal abuse, more lies, etc. etc. and Tom Balash is the biggest liar.

  • @dandyky Marvin Schwan would not be spinning in his grave. He was a lying, stealing, piece of shit as well! the whole company is garbage. In Marv day you had to inventory trucks without pay. 1 week vacation, company shut down a week at xmas and you got that off unpaid. No paid holidays, and expected people to attend sales meetings for up to 3 days without pay. The man is burning in hell right now!

  • @dandyky You're right. I never did, but had other professional dealings with him. My son presently works there, though, and is VERY satisfied with his wage and benefits. They are at least as good as he would get with any other major Minnesota corporation. Tom Balash isn't "Schwan's", you know. The business climate in the USA is quite different now, for sure. And there will always be some bad apples in any organization.

  • The DISGRUNTLED ex-Schwans employees and present Schwans employees seem to fall into two categorie: Those who don't have a good work ethic, and those who don't even know that they don't have a good work ethic. Marv Schwan, the original owner, was a hard worker and expected his employees to give a honest day's work for an honest wage. They even offer dental and vision coverage! That's unheard of these days! It's always been a great company and continues to be, in the tradition Marv started.

  • @GraniteCityCitizen now we know you are full of it. Dental coverage at schwans came after Marv died. what an ass you are.

  • @dougk5 You should try to read more comprehensively. I said "They offer ..." That means "now". "Offered" would mean back then when Marv was there. It's obvious to me why you didn't last. You can't even seem to post here without calling someone a name. With that level of maturity, you must have faked it through the interview very well to even have been hired! LOL

  • @GraniteCityCitizen LOL! a bit of revisionist there! You said those benefits where unknown in the day of Marv! I can see why you and your son both can't make it in the real world. You worked for Crooked Schwans and thought it was good and your son works there in Marhall a town with zero and thinks its good. Its all he's got. Compare to Sysco US Food Service General Mills etc. I got out because I couldnt stomach working for lying crooks like Schwans.

  • @GraniteCityCitizen what a line of crap. Marv Schwanexpected employees to come in on their days off for sales meetings up to 3 days without pay. a days work in marvins eyes was 14hrs! and the commission rate was less than nine per cent so you made about 7 per hour. and once a month you woud inventory a truck for about 2hrs after working 13 without pay!1 week vacation, no paid holidays, no sick days and first year one week off at xmas without pay! what an absolute ass you are

  • @dougk5 It's obvious you didn't pay close attention during training or you would have known to keep track of inventory as you sold from the truck. Then it's not necessary to have to spend 2 hours doing it another day! It's standard practice in many manufacturing companies to shut down for maintenance without pay. I've done it for 2 weeks myself. Nothing new there! Too bad you didn't listen up during orientation or read your manual. Just turn in paperwork to get paid for sales meetings.

  • @GraniteCityCitizen you obviously have never worked as a Rt Mngr. Schwans used to demand Rt Mngr inventory the truck once per month at the end of the day at no pay. Of course you've shut down 2 weeks no pay but did your employer knowingly withhold information on collecting unemployment benefits one would be entitled to at that time? Sales meeting unpaid. Just another way Schwans steals from employees.

  • @dougk5 Rout managers never inventory trucks, that is against schwans policy.

  • @zpgJiggleBilly i said used to. in the past schwns rt mngrs inventoried trucks after working 12-14hrs day. then back on the truck the next day. the abuse was common in marvin asshole schwans day.

  • This is stupid. Schwans is full of greedy lying corrupt individuals. LIARS,!

  • As a former employee of Schwans I hope this greedy, employee abusing company goes bankrupt. Those former managers back in the 70s and 80s who worked so hard to make Marvin a billionaire can go fuck themselves..you know who they are!!!!

  • as a schwans employee, I LOVE IT
