@centralviva Thing is, sometimes that's how people become better. Can we agree that he was a good soul at some point? I think that's fair to say, he was often dubbed a nerd; he studied, he practised, etc. Essentially, he didn't have the normal upbringing that most people do. Then, he got lost, made some big time mistakes, for sure. Sometimes you have to be caught to become better. Believe it or not, denial (and I do believe he experienced it) is the WORST defense mechanism there is.

@centralviva There's actually a good chance that his memory was blocked from remembering some of the things he did (this is the psychological definition of denial). Hence, your mind actually salvages you from anxiety by distorting the truth of reality. It's quite possible that his mind did use this subconciously, since his behaviours were so far off from those morals that he had developed through his loving parents. You're forgetting that what matters here is that he's trying to get better.

@fooschnikens Also, are you not believing that he had any psychological problems? I mean, we don't know for sure but at the least, isn't this a possibility? He was taking sleeping pills, among other things, he had knee surgeries, was always told he was the best, had his father pass away (really his mentor in everything in life). People always look at his achievements, but he had to sacrifice a lot to get there, as well. Psychological problems arise from STRESS.

I personally LOVE watching old footage of golf; all the different styles and swings Fact of the matter is, without Tiger introducing me to golf in this 'new' age, I would have never enjoyed golf and learned about its history (its previous greats like Nicklaus, Palmer, Sneed, Player, the list goes on). Tiger's use of the word "treatment" is telling. It's as if he wants to portray his infidelity as a cut on his arm that requires "treatment".
If he was truly honest he would characterize his "treatment" as counseling or therapy.
The word "treatment" is most commonly associated with "treating" a physical issue. Tiger's issues were/are obviously psychological. You don't normally use the word "treatment" for psychological counselling or therapy.
Tiger loses points with this interview in my book.
