You have a treasure chest of the essence of Japan! Wow those kids are great, so impressed enjoyed this so much. Thanks!

  • I'm in a Gumi Taiko group and our Sensei showed this to us today!

I was instantly blown away! None of us could compete with their skill, and we're all in high school!

  • is this the coolest thing in the world!!???

  • Awesome kids!!!!! but you need to learn how to use a video camera. Don't keep zooming in and out and panning back and forth. Just saying no offence. But you will get better results

  • freaking amazing

  • OUTSTANDING!!!!

  • Awesome performance! I would pay to see this. I love to watch Taiko performance, but I have never seen it done by such young drummers with great spirit and precision. Thanks to the kids and their school! (and btw, nice camera work)

  • Hello Softpapa. I'm not sure if you've been asked this before but are you fluent in Japanese or able to hold conversations? Just curious =P sorry.

  • すごい! ヘ(^_^ヘ)(ノ^_^)ノ

  • Immmmmpressive... Most impressive.

  • I blew out a 100 watt speaker once with a CD that included one of those big vertical drums.

  • wow i had goosebumps watching this. lol awesome 6th graders...

  • absolutely amazing. still in shock how young they are!

  • Amazing. But what does "Seiya" or whatever they are saying mean?

  • @Degenskonto

It really doesn't "mean" anything specifically. Those yells are just a way of getting themself all "fired up" during the performance. To keep them in unison rhythmically as well.

We just LOVE to shout and yell every chance we get! It's the Japanese way!!!! ; D

  • @TiramisuHappy Alright. But shouting and yelling doesnt really sound like the Japanese way... at all lol

  • @Degenskonto I think its some kind of "code" they shouting when they are changing rythme..i saw some shouted "Aya" or "Saiyo" etc.

  • Great video!!! Sorry to say that the kids over here rather play games and hang out with the wrong ppl at that age.

5/5 ...plus im sure those kids will be doing tours..lol

  • The lone boy in the back behind the 3 taiko has the same hair style as I did in 6th grade.

    Thanks for the upload Kurt!

  • breathtaking and inspirational! I don't think I'd have the discipline and dexterity for that.

  • I like the little boy standing off to the side imitating their moves.

  • Amazing, could not tear away!

  • the future pro taiko performers, awesome!

  • Damn,,,, That was totally awesome

  • Very cool!

  • These children behave better and are far more disciplined than that of any public elementary or high-school children I've ever been to in the States. Very impressive..

  • @ShaneALanG especially that group of kids in the front not paying attention talking amongst themselves.

  • so much sound from such little people! :D

  • What a talented group of kids!!! Very impressive! I've always found taiko drums very interesting,I guess because I played drums in high school! Thanks Kurt! :)

  • That was absolutely amazing!!!!!! Seriously!! Is this sort of thing common??!?!

  • Amazing!

  • Its so.. mesmerizing...

  • 4:00

  • wow the sixth graders in japan are really small O.o

  • that was pretty dope :-)

  • amazing how you can feel the energy and spirit of these kids as they play the taiko..

  • WOW THOSE R 6TH GRADERS I COULD HAVE NER DONE THAT WHEN I WAS IN 6TH (my arm would have gotten beaten to deth by those kid -_- )

  • I don't know why, but a good taiko performance always makes me emotional and this one was no different, bringing tears to my eyes. A really wonderful performance indeed.

  • Wonderful! You can hear the fire and spirit in their drumming, it's absolutely amazing!

  • :O amazing!!!

  • That was truly amazing. I'm amazed how well they where synchronized.

Do you know how long they practiced before they performed?

  • This style of drumming always looked like so much fun to me! I was really happy when a group of taiko performers came to the university. Some day I want to give it a try myself. Those kids were really amazing. I can only imagine how long it took them to learn all that. And the littlest one on the side playing air-drums! sweet!

  • wonderful! That shows dedication, talent and disicpline!

I don't believe I would ever see something like that at my school...for anything. Even just because it's so structured..

O is that girl without the red pants supposed to not have them? it kinda seems strange.

  • Simply amazing :O

  • I remember in grade 6 my class had trouble playing mary had a little lamb together on the recorder...

  • That was wonderful! I love Japanese drums!

  • amazing
