  • Cool song but RP was a stuck up coke headed asshole. At least when he played in Charlottesville back in the 80's

  • This was Robert Palmer at his best! Your music will live on forever!

  • This is how I got turned on to RP-covering a Little Feat song

  • I do agree on that ATS68 that this version is alright but i would prefer the Lowell George. version.

  • This is SO funky........I have loved Robert and Lowell George "Little Feat "since their beginning.......Check out The Meters- Cabbage Alley........it is HOT too.

  • Palmer rips it up but hey! the song can take the treatment. Harsh, but fair ...

  • ...... Well I Pawned My Watch, and I Sold My Ring

Just to Hear That Girl Singing

I Don't Care Who, You Could All Face Ruin

You Can Lose It All Down At the Spanish Moon

    Whiskey, and Bad Cocaine

Poison Get You Just the Same

And If That Don't Kill You Soon

The Women Will Down At the Spanish Moon

  • Slinky...

  • swings like a brick, terrible

  • is the spanish moon a real club somewhere? im being serious. not making a joke.

  • @Cloudedmind04

Dude I wish it was. I always imagined it's in New Orleans...

  • @TheBitterWeed there is a club in baton rouge that is rumored to be haunted and its called the spanish moon. thats like 45 minutes away from new orleans. wohoo.

  • @Cloudedmind04 When i was in Spain I went to a cat house called Luna.

  • Not the only Little Feat song that he covered... Love that one of my favs growing up was a fan of one of my current favorite bands...

  • Yeh! Palmer took this song to a good place! Loved Little Feat. This song is a beautiful example of making something great greater. Collaboration!

  • The Little Feat live versions of this were sometimes mesmerizing. For a sample, check the version on "Waiting for Columbus". That said, Robert was a real artist, who brought his own vibe to everything he did. He worked with LF for 2 albums, I believe. I can't believe anyone has commented on the presence of Roselyn Sanchez, from TV's "Without a Trace". She is simply on fire here.

  • I hate to say it but this was better than the LF version that I just watched

  • I like this Robert Palmer treatment of Spanish Moon

  • I like this treatment of Spanish Moon... the video is just what I imagined, except, I had a more rustic look to the bar....

  • When many people think of Palmer they think of the Addicted to Love era vids and don't realize how good his early stuff was, but you can't deny that his suits were cool in those vids. The word that always comes to mind when I think of RP is class, he was classy thru and thru.

  • I love Palmer's version and he is backed up by the boys from Little Feat in this recording so I think they were alright with it.

  • It's from the Album "Some People Can Do What They Like"

  • Hey germsblues... guess you dont knoe much bout Lowell George or Robert Palmer... My bet is this is a leftover from Sneekin Sally Through the Alley.. A RP album produced by LG... ... just guessing

  • @geneiv im thinking your right....cause thats the Feat playing on this. Lowell is the only one NOT on the album.....both little feat tunes, this and Sailing Shoes are about cocaine...i think lowell and robert prolly liked to have alot of fun together!

  • What a horrid rendition of an amazing Lowell/Feat song. Seriously, Palmer should be ashamed of himself.

  • @JermsBlues how silly can you be? this IS little feat playing on this..Lowell was the only one NOT on the album. this is a bad ass version// u gots to funkify.i have the album and credits..do research. every member of little feat is on this..and it still sucks!?!? you should be ashamed of yerself..not robert!

  • Great lyrics by Van Dyke Parks. Brian Wilson would be so proud. Dig those Meters! Great add!

  • i really love all the old robt palmer stuff. i would love it if someone would post from a whisper to a scream.

  • I saw RP in concert at the US Naval Academy in 1977. Several members of Little Feat were backing him up (Paul Barrere, Ken Gradney and Sam Clayton). He rocked the house down!

  • Robert Palmer and Lowell were pals - he produced a couple of Little Feat albums so he can cover any thing he wants

  • who cares this is classic no matter who did it . Lowell wold not mind.

  • Gov't Mule also do an awsome version of this song, would really like them to play this in Cologne next month.

  • Right on about Little Feat Robert used a lot of the musicians from little feat. His earlier stuff is far bluesier because of it too really nice stuff we all miss Him dont we

  • Well.....er....risking more juvenile verbal abuse from Mr. Monday who claims the high moral ground on 'what is sick ' ; thanks 144bob for re-affirming what I believe to be the truth : and to JoeVinegar2 thx also it's not just me then ....the song seems to me to be in very good health from 90% of the comments : it may be about a tragic subject , but it's a gem of a song : in Shakespears Hamlet , Hamlet's uncle murders his father and shags his mother : so ....er...this is a 'sick play' ? hmmmmm

  • This Lowell George version appears on Robert Palmers third solo album called

"Some People Can Do What They Like". It is quite the collectible. I was fortunate enough to get a free download off of limewire. It's one of Palmer's lost gems. Check it out if you can

  • I dig this version. I remember hearing it in a movie with Val Kilmer. The Little Feat original is CLASSIC. Lowell George is the TRUTH

  • @ATS68 Yes so do I. I think the movie was Wonderland, it had a brilliant soundtrack.

  • @ATS68 Yes, Lowell is truthful music.....you are SO right !!!!!!!

I miss him more than any that have passed........well, Ray Charles, maybe .......

  • @ATS68 Hey there I prefer this to the Little Feat version, more jazzy and laid back. I think the movie you are referring to is Wonderland; the song worked perfectly in the film.

  • this song is sick, i'm working for the guy who originally wrote this song.

  • .....er......excuse me ?......er......you are working for a dead genius ? ..... OK death from drugs is not commendable but ....... try living in Gaza ....

Have I missed the point ? ( not Little Feat ) but your position ..

    jazzm0nk

  • he lives in tucson, i think the band was named the travelers. who do you think wrote it? try sucking a dick.

    jazzcock.

  • Sorry. This song was written by the great Lowell George who died in 1979. It origanly was on the album "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" by Little Feat. Give it a listen sometime.

  • i dont know about that. i saw the original recording myself.

  • Why don't you just do your home work. I have. Check with ASCAP, or BMI, or go to any number of song lyric sights and see who gets writing credit. If your friend claims he wrote it he's simply lying. This song was first released in 1974. Your right . It's a sick song but give credit where credit is due. If your not familiar with Lowell George or little feat, do yourself a favor and listen to some. Some very good stuff right here on youtube.

  • i dont know about that.

  • I do!

  • i'm pretty sure this isnt the first time someone took credit for something they didnt do.

  • Just how stuburn can anyone be....???

  • how joe can you be?

  • Uba cool & wicked thanks 4 posting mate may 7 lucky gods smile on your fortunes.

  • When I found this song back in the seventies and shared it with my friends we smoked all night long and played this over and over again.

  • I've never heard Mr. Palmer's version. Thanks for posting it, cause I'll surely be checking out more of his music!

  • Palmer and George collaborated a number of tracks. Palmer's Sneakin' Sally, Pressure Drop, and Some People Can Do What They Like are 3 fantastic LPs that really resemble Lowell George and Little Feat. Allan Toussaint is worth listening to, too.

  • Resembled Lowell because the Feat backed him.

  • Lowell played this bad! I mean, who sould touch it?

  • good stuff.

  • nice version of a great song. there was talk of Palmer joining Little Feat as lead singer after LG died.

  • Little Slow? Party-On!

I Liked The One With 5-6 Girls Looking Alike!

    Damm Good Vidio!

  • thanks for the video buddy i needed that kick ass song.

  • Come on people! Didn't anybody see the smokin hot chica in this video? Thats Roselyn Sanchez from "Without a Trace.".

  • Oh shiat this is BAD azz!!! I never heard this verison but I'm hooked like bad cocaine!!!

  • Very nice, very professional video for this great song and great artist! Must look into what else you did!

  • Man,,, I love this version! Got me in the groove!

  • This is an incredibly brilliant song. I always imagine circa 70s sexy artsy bohemian Robert preforming in a bar in the barrio somewhere. :)

  • This was written by Little Feat

  • r u mensa?

    taxiboysdrummer

  • lol no it wasn't

  • The song Spanish Moon was first published in Feats Don't Fail Me Now in 1974, earlier than in any Robert Palmer album. Look it up next time please before you make any claims. If I am incorrect please point it out, but I am pretty sure that Little Feat WAS the original creator of this song.

  • Well, I didn't know that Little Feat had been around that long. I'll take your word for it then.

  • How can anyone say that the video sucks?

Class act, not as classie as you though!

A different spin on an anchient lowell George song, it was bound to happen, and is the basic substance of flatery.

  • Tha backing band on the Pressure Drop and Sneaking Sally albums is basically the Little Feat line-up!!

  • Yep ! In other words retaetna they were close and friends and.....well...definitive

If you'll be my Dixie Chicken........

  • It's Jeff Porcaro on drums

  • Also, Sneaking was recorded at Alan Tousaint's studio in NOLA with addition of several of the Meters...was livin there at the time and Sneaking was all over the local 'underground' rags...this was around the era that the Meters played for a Stones after concert party n blew em away...well, as Kieth might say, not hard for a NOLA band.

  • Yes indeed 7775 , there is no substitute for Lowell ; but Robert Palmer was one of his biggest fans and perhaps slightly embarrassed by his 'Pop' success while his hero languished in the lounge of under-rated musicians .....

Not only does he use his success to 'realise' Lowell's imagination but with the greatest respect ..

    jazzmonk####

  • cool song but it a little feat song

  • Quite a different sound for Robert Palmer,I heard this song and the movie Wonderland and I had to look it up Cool song! When I first heard it I honestly thought it was Bad Company!

  • Yes, exactly!! I saw that movie and fell in love with this song. That whole soundtrack is great.

  • Definitely its a damn shame this didn't make it on to the soundtrack!! Neither did All Right Now by Free which is another classic they should have had a volume two or made the soundtrack longer!!

  • Wait a minute!...Is that the song that's playing during like the third or fourth scene while Kate Bosworth is alone in the hotel room going thru crazy withdrawls, and it's basically a blaring guitar solo?? I've been looking for that one too! If it is then damn, I like you already Sarah. Only a true 'diva' can get down to tunes like those. To hell with Queen Latifah! lol

  • The song that is playing when kate is in the hotel room with the guitar solo is "Every Dream Home a Heartache" by Roxy Music it's on the soundtrack.

  • Check your messages I sent you a PM

  • This is great wish someone would find a vid for Sailing Shoes and post it

  • The early RP albums were really funky. The cover of Spanish Moon is cool. It's methodical, articulate and syncopated: Never will be as cool as Little Feat, but really it works well.

  • GREAT JOB Joe!! LIke IT Its one of his best song With Lowell as musician You hear the groove of Little feat in It making these for His LP/CD I THought Sneaking Sally Through the Alley) can you make more? :_)

  • I had no idea that the late great RP covered this cool Little Feat tune. It's not bad, However I still think the original band playing it live on the Waiting for Columbus album is the best version. This one doesn't have the same intensity.

  • I think you did a great job on recreating the concept of Lowell's vision in a modern world.

  • Problem spain really had unconventional moons in 1999 2000 2001 2002 20003 2004 2005.

  • A great song written by LowellGeorge of Little Feat!

  • The video sucks BIG time but I love the song. RIP Robert.

  • One of his best songs, and this video looks great. This video is obviously three or more different videos from other artists edited together, but it works, so nice job.
