  • i think my fish started breeding last night haha if one does get pregnant what should i do when she releases her frys i have a 60 gallon tank is there any special thinks to buy for them? or just her?

  • Very nice! This really takes me back to when I had fish. I had cichlids as well and I got quite a few successful breedings with several different pairs of fish. I had a yellow labidochromis who was a terrific mother...almost too terrific for her own good. It took a lot for her to spit out her babies. If she wasn't in a tank all by herself, she would hold on to them for so long that they'd end up dying in her mouth. She was almost too protective. But we had 2 or 3 successful spawns with her. :)

  • çok güzel

  • did a baby just died? I saw it float up how it died?

  • nice im planning on breeding these guys soon they are very pretty fish i have a 50-55 gallon tank:)

  • i luve ur turtle!<3

  • Congrats, i have a female Labidochromis caeruleus whos bout to start spitting

  • What happened after that...?

  • Like your aquarium..

  • They look like their mum.

  • Omg that's so cute, nice video and hope the babies are okay!

  • Really nice video, i love it.

  • I'd love it if my electric yellows bred. At the moment i've had my hongi's & zebra obliquidens breed. I had a pregnant Blue Cobalt too. x) Had them for over a year.

  • How can you tell when an african cichlid is pregnet? I am upgrading my 20 gallon to a 55 in a few weeks for my african cichlids. I have two bluew zebras, one yellow lab, an albino zebra, and an auratus cichlid. They are all only about an inch long. I will add about 15-20 more cichlids of similar size when I get my 55.

  • @Fx4Ranger2002 The fish will stop eating, but this could be also a sign of illness, however, there's a difference in behavior between ill cichlid and the one holding eggs. If it was holding, it will approach food but never put it in her mouth in the early days of holding, while the ill might chew it and spit it. later on when the eggs hatch, the jaw of the fish will be noticeably wide and you will be able to see the fry inside her mouth, at this point the fish will put some food to feed the fry

  • @Fx4Ranger2002 what kind of cichlids are they 20+ in a 55 that's crowded. Look at the female if she looks fat then she has eggs in her... then she will start dancing with the male to breed. Once they breed she will lay eggs and pick them up in her mouth, her mouth will be big and she won't eat. about 2-3weeks i think.... she will then spit the frys out. I'm also a begginer my female just had eggs in her mouth. im trying to net her and seperate her she other cant get chase and stress. GL!

  • @johniewonie 20 africans in a 55. I plan on running two of the marineland 450s on the back. I heard if they are overstocked it calms aggression

  • one of them is special hahah

  • u"r so lucky!

  • thank you so much for posting i have some young labs hope i get lucky !

  • U should breed frontosa they can hold up 2 50 fry

  • @Firebelliedkid I would love to but my tank is just small for frontosas, it's only 30 gallons. I currently have juvenile tropheus, and got rid of the turtle

  • Hey, man, nice fish, really lucky!

How are they doing right now? I'm in a similar position w/ this same species! I think I should have left the mother in the container like this one, w/ the babies.

They still have egg sacs, and we've only lost 1 or 2, but I tried letting the mother back into the rest of the tank- lots of fighting.

I'm wondering if you could tell me what you did? :)

  • @TangLabCorporation unfortunately they were all eaten by the little turtle, I did a big mistake by raising the water level until i was possible for the turtle to climb into the fry tank. But before that, several ones died and at that time I wasn't caring much of the water conditions, which I believe were the reason behind their death. Watch the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH levels of your water and they should be fine. search the internet for the proper levels but make sure you don't... Cont

  • @TangLabCorporation make sudden changes to pH and temperature as they might kill the toughest Cichlid... Since I started another comment, I'll tell you the levels. Ammonia & nitrite should be zero, 0.25ppm is the max, above that they are in risk. nitrate below 5ppm. pH 7.5-8.6, between 7 and 7.5 is ok but less than that it's too acidic for them. temperature 25-28. 1st check ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and act quickly, when they're fine adjust pH & temp. over a period of several days, especially pH

  • is it died? the top right 1:28

  • @TheSpiritSai No it didn't die

  • is that a special tank for the mom or someting? she barely moves in the vid

  • One baby died in the vid ):

  • how can u tell male from female

  • Dude, shes a beauty! Congrats on your lovely baby fishes!

  • nice vedio thanks 4 sharing

  • So much better than stripping! <3

  • what have you got her in?

  • good musıc

  • they are cute!! lol! and tiny!!

  • I think the moment the fish feels safe and that the frys are healthy enough to face the world she will release them. Try to put it in the breeder for a day or two and try to make the water condition suitable for the new frys

  • Great video... I noticed my yellow lab stopped eating since the 29th of April, and I've separated it in another 10 gallon tank, she has a puffy mouth. I'm not comfortable stripping her, as I'm not sure when I should, also I've never done it before. I would prefer to place her in the breeder, can you suggest what date I should place her in the breeder, and once I do would she immediately start spitting out the fry? Thanks

  • whats with the one baby tht had a spazz attack after it was out?

  • whoa! how many baby fish are there?

  • @lin732 it's only one now, the little turtle managed to get into their aquarium and ate them all except for one. I think in two weeks i'll be able to move it next to the other fish. it's around 1 cm long now

  • woah was the aquarium like a whole big tank full of water cause i got confused with the turtle and the puffer fish o_0

  • @ilovepuppies312 two days ago my turtle climbed into the little tank and ate all of them and left me only one :(. I didn't know he would be able to get inside i underestimated him

  • @amoghnieh what kind of breed enclosure do you have her in? if you dont mind me asking. it looks like it kind of holds her there. might help me out next time my Labidochromis caeruleus is holding. also check out my channel to see a bit of my tanks and even some newer vids of the baby cichlids! thanx and happy fishkeeping!

  • ohh my goodness that little crazy one is sooo cut :)

  • wait so you did this video at a pet store and they gave you all the fish for the price of 1???

  • @ilovepuppies312 no it's at home, i bought the fish knowing she's full of fish, but the guy at the shop didn't know

  • wow i cant believe you got this shot!! its amazing!!! thank you so much for sharing this awsome experience.. as a new african cichlid owner ive been looking for all the info i can get and this is just such a beautiful video! thanks again! now my only question is did the fry survived? how did you dealt with them all?

  • @blueairy Yes they are doing very well. I removed the mother after I made sure she released them all and just left them in that comopartment. I also installed a heater as I didn't have one and now I'm keeping the water temperature at 26 degrees which is the optimum temp. for the frys. Now some of them started to develop darker skins but they are still greyish I don't think they will develop any color before one month, but i'm not sure of that
