Who cares? So what it was based off of that shaolin soccer movie? It's a good commercial, maybe that movie inspired him! Maybe he couldn't give credit because the Coke company may have not allowed it!!! He worked with Coke, so don't just criticize him.
Yah the young film student was given a great opportunity to show off his film talents, be creative, and instill hope to his country, BUT instead he ripped off 90% of his ad from a movie without even the decency or courtesy to give credit. At least be honest about it man. Do they not teach him copyright laws in his film school? I'm pretty sure you get kicked out of school for stuff like this.
Instead of saying that its rip off of some movie we should be happy that this film student actually took the time and was given the resources to create a video used to bring together the nation of south africa and all other nations thats what this is all about.
@NIGHTWolf663 "this film student actually took the time and was given the resources to create a video used to bring together the nation of south africa" by ripping off the film almost completely. If anything, this only cheapens the message, saying that he wasn't willing to spend more time and use his own creativity for a commercial meant for the whole of South Africa
Saw this on a Coke documentary on CNBC. Really great commercial! The fact that a South African film student had a major hand in creating this makes it even better! Thanks for such an inspiring commercial!
This is not just inspired by Shaolin Soccer, but ripped off scene by scene
Except for the band and building the tower scenes, every single shot is copied directly from that 2001 Honk Kong movie. Shame, really.

@ZorraHokage its not that big a deal, at all, but honestly, he ripped off that movie move-for-move
the bigger issue is that as a movie director in regard to art, ripping of other films, to that detail is in poor taste.

@TSkniaz oh well, at least the commerical is still good; in its own way

It's so obvious that Mfundo Mkhize stole the idea from Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer film.
This South African student appears to be a FRAUD!
Live life with honest honour, mon.
