The main objective should be job creation, but that's taken a backseat to debt reduction which will do NOTHING to fix our economy in the short term because we need jobs, not spending cuts. @ToddAldrich The Bush tax cuts have hurt the economy by weakening the middle class. The wages for the average person have remained stagnant while the top 1% of earners have doubled their money. Our economic stagnation is resulting from the middle class not having enough money to buy things because of the hyper-rich controlling 40% of the nation's wealth. Wages went up - and DRAMATICALLY so, during Bush's term in office for NON SUPERVISORY, hourly workers (NOT the big wigs) wages went up 6.4% faster than inflation (i.e. REAL wages)

In addition this years highest earners are often not the same as next years high earners. In fact, a poor person is more likely to move out of the lowest income quintile than a rich person is to STAY in the highest income quintile.
@ToddAldrich A tiny portion of the country consuming a large portion of the wealth is detrimental to the economy, so it harms me. There is a finite amount of money printed, so if 1% takes up something like 80% of the wealth (they will if you remove regulations and taxes) then the economy will be unsustainable because the middle class won't have a large enough portion of wealth for the economy function.

The mega-corps use such things to create barriers of entry and to eliminate competition.

This is just plain flat out false. That money is put into circulation via investments ESPECIALLY when there are lower taxes and regulations because those things INCREASE the chances for success. This can be shown by looking at capital gains tax cut rates. Money POURS in from tax shelters because the incentive to shelter the $ is less and the potential for gains is increased.

There is no doubt that there is a need for a safety net, but it does NOT function as a stimulus to the economy. It is merely taking water from one end of the pool and dumping it into the other end, but unfortunately some of it gets spilled on the deck. The NET result of such things is job losses and slower economic growth. It is STILL needed for reasons of compassion.

That SAME person, if he were to have invested the money he and his employer sent to SS, would have $1,967,640.41 if he JUST got the average Compound Annual Growth Rate of the S&P 500 since 1900. That includes the crashes.

Sad thing is people don't realize it, yet year after year, decade after decade, our older citizens are condemned to poverty because they believed the lie. Just sit down and think about what makes simple sense if you were given choices in the various scenarios. If tax rates come down and you have an opportunity to make a LOT more money by investing and the risk is fairly low, would you keep your money in a tax shelter, or would you invest it? When the potential reward outweighs the risk, $ gets invested.

I think any company that outsources large amounts of jobs should be hit with massive tax penalties... it will ALWAYS be more profitable for a company to outsource jobs. Labor costs are important but they are NOT the only costs of doing business. Taxes, legal costs, regulatory compliance costs, transportation, marketing - plant and facilities costs are also significant costs and we could offset MUCH of the labor differences by lowering the costs of the other factors.
But Democrats are making THOSE costs higher also. THAT is what regulations, taxes and litigation costs do.
@FloridaLiberal For example:A company COULD move overseas and reduce labor costs by $500K per year, but by doing so, it would cost them $400K more for transportation etc. The decision to move is at this point is $100K in favor of taking those jobs overseas. Conservatives want to lower the tax bills (saving $75K) lower the regulatory costs (saving $75K) and lower legal costs (saving $25k) This offsets the labor cost advantage & tilts the playing field BACK in OUR favor by $75K.

There is a finite amount of money printed, so if 1% takes up something like 80% of the wealth (they will if you remove regulations and taxes) then the economy will be unsustainable because the middle class won't have a large enough portion of wealth for the economy function.

That SAME person, if he were to have invested the money he and his employer sent to SS, would have $1,967,640.41 if he JUST got the average Compound Annual Growth Rate of the S&P 500 since 1900. That includes the crashes.

Just sit down and think about what makes simple sense if you were given choices in the various scenarios. If tax rates come down and you have an opportunity to make a LOT more money by investing and the risk is fairly low, would you keep your money in a tax shelter, or would you invest it? When the potential reward outweighs the risk, $ gets invested.

Taxes, legal costs, regulatory compliance costs, transportation, marketing - plant and facilities costs are also significant costs and we could offset MUCH of the labor differences by lowering the costs of the other factors.
But Democrats are making THOSE costs higher also. THAT is what regulations, taxes and litigation costs do.

If I were laura I would have answered- Everybody in a free nation has a right to their own opinion, and she was likely not a bush supporter prior to loosing her son, the only reason we know her opinion now is because she lost a child and she's saying pretty strong words. So really it's a personal moral choice, she's not running for office, there's no big picture to worry about. You can leave her, or call her out, your choice.

I think a good point was made here.....Yes Coulter....Yes. You probably shouldnt go after people who lost their children in war. You should probably just leave them alone. Maybe, just maybe, for the simple fact that they may have gone a little nuts from the loss and are not making rational claims about reality.
