  • I just bought a 2009 BMW 328xi yesterday and experienced this exact same problem this morning. I think I'm going to sue someone.

    Take your car in, and describe the problem. Let them know a friend of yours had the same problem, and their dealership did a software update. The software update fixes this problem (among other things).

  • I am facing similar problem. I have an E90 the head unit just displays "Telephone Active" as such the radio or CD player doesn`t work.

    BMW couldn`t fix the problem, they proposed changing the entire unit.

    I did that and the problem still persist on the new head unit.

    Am left with an E90 without any form of music.

    Let me know if yours is fixed now.

    After they did the software update, I haven't had any problems whatsoever with my audio. On occassion, it doesn't start up right away, but it does start 100% of the time now.

  • bmw is a low quality,rubbish quality, tons of continious electrics and mechanical problems, contant service visits time and money loss. BMW stands for Big Money Wasted!!!

    It's been fixed, just get your software update. I haven't had ANY problems since the update.

  • Update: First scheduled oil change and also got a software update.  The audio problem seems to have been fixed.

  • Unfortunately no. But when I get my oil changed around Dec 6th, I'll inquire about a fix again.

  • Got my car back within a 5 and a half hour turn-around.

    Apparently, BMW is aware of this problem and is working towards a fix. My Service Adviser asked me to give him a call in 2 weeks; inquiring about a fix for this.

    I will say the customer service at Long Beach BMW is good. Friendly staff, warm, and welcoming. However, was it really necessary to schedule an appointment for Wednesday? Couldn't they have just told me Saturday there was a known problem, but no known fix yet?

    Scheduled an appointment to get this fixed. I took it into the dealership when the problem was occurring and they scheduled an appointment for me.

    Hopefully, the problem will be fixed 100%.

  • Hey Megaman. Good to see another 1addict on here. You should bring them this video and just have them update you to the newest software. While your at it, request the lagfix. Good luck. (upgrade+)

    Yeah, I'm going to bring them this video; hopefully they can't get out of fixing it by saying, "We couldn't replicate the problem."

    What's the lag fix? I know cars with iDrive are having that lag where their system doesn't come on for about 30 seconds, but my system doesn't come on even after hours!

  • No...they just tell me they can't replicate the problem, so they can't fix it.

  • I just purchased a 135i. If the radio didn't work, I would demand a new car or a refund. You payed for a product that works and if they can't fix it they should replace it. I have always had a good experience with BMW service though.

  • Don't get me wrong, their customer service is top notch. Just the fact that while the car has been in for service, they haven't been able to replicate this problem.

    Frustrating because it happens a lot one week, then almost never for another week. Other times it happens here and there.
