I guess that any "Ry Cooder connection" would be pretty fortuitous as I've been culturally based on rock'n'roll...

Anyway, blues is the root & I can see that Ry Cooder's contribution is praiseworthy concerning blues & guitar playing (for the too few that I know of him).

However, I've read that he was used to "Teisco" single coil pickups... If it's true, these ones are different than the Valco ones (less powerful & fat), but interesting too !!
