Thats why I recognized your face and guitar because your Dave Weiner. No wonder your playing is so good and slightly familiar. I must say that when ever I here your playing (with or without steve vai) I think its fantastic
Working with Steve would be like my dream job. Other than being a professional guitarist myself. I am dying to see him live. Im definitely going to have to travel outside of Iowa for that. I can totally see how working with him would be educational. Whenever I see instructional videos from him I always get great ideas for my own playing. And btw nice playing. You've definitely been hanging around Vai. Thanks for sharing.
i really need to start learning some theory after 5 years of playing im starting to really want to know what i'm doing and why it sounds the way it does.
if i had to describe steve's playing in one word, i'd say that it as almost spiritual. It seems that when steve plays the guitar, it's not just a guitar, but a part of him. The guitar is an extension of himself, and his music is a piece of his soul. At least, that is what i believe.
Hey out to you Dave from Canada, wow very nice playing. How did you end up playing with Steve. By the way check out my wifes cousin Aldo Vaccaro on youtube. You will be cleaved form the planet.
this may sound thick but were do you get the tab from or music. because i really like his lessons very Inspiring and give you a lot of new things too and try help plz
definately, i cant play guitar myself, but have been dying to for some time. So to hear thoughts on the instrument is good for me so I can understand more about the instrument im literally weeks away from picking up and beginning to play. to quote nelson from the simpsons: 'what you playin' polly wolly doodle? well it sounds polly wolly craapy!' lol - i might just start with 'for the love of god', im sure thats easy to play............... :S
I know you're not really a tapper Dave, but if I can suggest one riff of the week, I'd suggest an "inspired by Steve Vai tapping riff of the week". I'd love to see what you can say about it!
Wow Dave, thanx a lot for this week's ROTW, there is so much in there!
It's funny because I now just realized why I liked these progressions so much in my playing, because I've been listening to a lot of Steve over the years.
Excellent lesson as usual, Dave. I see you have been using a new custom Ibanez lately. Would you please share with us what kind of pickups you are using?
Awsome video! I'm always stunned of the greatness they have! by the way maybe a weird question but please anserw what kind of Camera are you using because it is so good quality!
WOW, I think you are beyond a lot of players, you can walk almost on any territory, and on top of that, you teach how to do it! :D
hey dave did you came up with this steve vai like tensions?, did you just improvised or had somethin' written before you start?, you really impress me ÔoÔ
Just a question I've been asking myself for quite a long time now :
How do you practice when you play in such a giant band?
Do you have huge special room or something? How often do you repeat together? Are you more working on your own riffs. Is Steve just sending you the stuff he did and you come up with something for the rythm?
Is there a chord quality you can identify in the A# area or is it just a lydian section?

Since 93. But not so much anymore.

I still use them, just not exclusively. I find 6's offer better tone, playability and feel.

actually from 5:28 to 5:33 sounded a lot more like joe sat. He usually uses a lot of legato playing in major scales.
