Locals used them as stiches since their head gets stuck on ur skin pretty painful, and badass ants, i couldnt smash their heads with my whole strengh(u cant smash it with ur feet or ur hands, never tried to do it with a hammer tho).

@xKJx25 dude I agree. When I was a kid, a good friend of mine rolled a rock over and got bit by one of these right in the meaty part between the thumb and index finger. If you ask him, he wouldn't say it wasn't very painful as WmReinhardt stated; it still stung a bit. Even though he cleaned it he still got a small infection with yellow excretion from the bite probably caused by whatever bacteria was on this things mandrels. The street name for these in New Mexico is Child of the Earth.
