I dont know why i kept thinking of the fish mercury levels and the fact that we should limit fish intake as well. I get scared of the bird flu, cause we have so many out here, i still like collecting the feathers, without fear of the bird flu!
My daughter (18 months) has partial agenesis of the corpus callosum, and she got pretty sick recently (gastroenteritis, they said) after her 2-part flu vaccine...we were starting to get worried about her mental health after hearing about the autism issue, considering her current neurological condition...we've heard from the West...what do you think, given your Eastern medicinal training?
Hmmm I take a chewable multi-vitamin twice a day. I don't take anything else though except a couple advil now and then but only if I truly can't stand the pain from the headache, backache etc. I don't like taking pills probably because I accidentally overdosed as a small child. I am also more careful about where the pills are kept since I had my boy.
Thanks for another informative entertaining report. =)
Hee hee welcome. I had no choice really as everything I wanted to say wouldn't fit into one. =)
One other point about my son's yearly tummy bug is that the first 2 times I took him to the doctor but after that I just called them and they always told me the same thing so now I don't even call. I just handle it. =)
So glad that I never took that flu shot or got one for my son. He doesn't get sick that often anyway. Once a year he gets a tummy bug which makes him sick for a few days and that is it. The interesting thing I have noted that since he was about 3 and started getting this tummy bug he handles it better each time. Is his system building up an immunity? I can't say for sure but it seems that way. Going to have to divide this into two comments LOL.
My earlier comment wasn't here hmmmmm. I have had the flu shot every year for the past 5 years without a reaction at all. I'm aware of the dangers and still poses such a debate. Children are more susceptible, and although not proven, would be nice to be able to prove the cause no matter what source it comes from. You think we could do that by now.
1. The flu vaccine IS beneficial as it reduces morbidity and mortality. All elderly, pregnant women, and those with certain diseases more prone to infection (e.g. diabetes) should def get vaccinated. I've also heard about the link between the mercury preservative and autism: I know that in the Chicago area and UIC those vaccines are being phased out...only thimerosal-free shots were administered this year.
The problem with the flu vaccine is that it isn't 100% effective. It's a best guess against the flu strain most likely to appear. Perhaps if they can increase effectiveness of the vaccine I'd be more prone to accept mandated vaccinations.
Mercury preservative.... thanks for update, last thing I remember was this from NYTimes.
''The question is, What's causing it? And we go back and forth, and there's strong evidence that indicates that it's got to do with a preservative in vaccines.''
With that comment, Mr. McCain marked his entry into one of the most politicized scientific issues in a generation. [end
I had no idea that this was such a political issue.

Eastern Medicine would say stay away from the meds all together. In any case, the data seems to support that this is a rare occurrence.

The only kind I get... but no sure fire way to make sure that the drugs don't get in that too.

The Autism Vs Vaccines, it's about time the governments got of their rears and knuckled down to getting the research done.
Be a hell of a lot different if the 'leaders' had a child go down the Autism pathway.
Then they'd allocate research funding on a bloody high scale.
Good seeing u mate ;D

Something that shocked me today in medical news is a study that shows 1 in every 4 teenage girls has at least one STD. That just blew my mind.
Good episode Steve!

Yeah, there are many things that are floating about since most schools are met with such resistance with proper sex education.
