and I don't even live in a bad neighborhood either. The only ppl happy to live in NY City are the rich. And thats exactly what our awful Mayor wants, to get rid of the poor and middle class and make NY City a place only the rich can afford. Its becoming imppossible for anyone to be able to afford to live here anymore. I would love to leave but unfortunately both mine and my husbands jobs are here and we wouldn't make half of what we make here anywhere else. Work is why ppl are stuck here for.
yeah well the blizzard of 06 is nothing compared to this years blizzard. I have lived in NY City all my life and I honestly don't know why anyone would actually pay to come here on vacation. I hate NY with all my heart, I am dying to escape from this awful place with rude, mean people, awful drivers, people who will kill u for a parking spot and Im afraid to leave my home for fear my apartment will be robbed again, by my neighbors teens who do drugs all day and hang out. the NY u dont see.
Ok, England does not recive as much snow as the U.S. So fucking what? Atleast we don't spend millions each year on useless snow plows and snow tires. Score 1 to England.
Most snowfall isn't categorized as Blizzards, the NOAA defines it very specifically "as sustained winds or frequent gusts reaching or exceeding 35 mph (56 km/h) which lead to blowing snow and cause visibilities of ¼ mile (or 400 m) or less, lasting for at least 3 hours."
In colloquial terms for the US, its basically any snow that shuts down an area for an extended period of time.
I know most snowfall ISNT a blizzard. which is why I said what I did.. However in american media ANY snow fall is refered to as a god damned blizzard.
A blizzard is not necessarily a snowstorm. It's considerable falling and blowing snow for a period of 3 hours or more with sustained winds of 35 mph or greater.
And this indeed was a blizzard. We got 20 to 30 inches of snow with gusty winds. Even thuder and lightning occurred.
yes yes yes.. another american definition of the word.
the word Blizzard is a snow storm. If it isnt a snow storm, it aint no blizzard. Regardless of different american interpretations of the english word.
yo shut the fuck up, a blizzard is exactly what lightningfever said it is. ...I am a meteorology major and can tell you right now your completely wrong. It is not the AMERICAN interpretation, it is the correct defination you dumbass. If your from England, you shouldnt even be speaking it barely ever snows in ur country, u wouldnt even know what a blizzard is.
and let me ask you were in England are you from? and how many tims have u gotten 3 to 4 inches of snow in ur garden. I have family who lives in the London area, and they tell me if it even snows an inch, that is very rare. I know for a fact England receives very little snow every winter. You might be in the northern region, I know they get a little more, but still not enough to say you get snow like we do here in the U.S.Send me some pics of this, I would really like to see....
I dont have 3-4 inches. I got 4 feet at the moment and I never claimed to live in England. I did however live in England a few years and they never get snow. When they get it, its 1 inch and the entire country stops. Airports, schools, nothing works. They use the expression "snowed in" Snowed in, in england, means there is an inch of snow on the ground so that they dont dare to use their cars. Here "snowed in" means you cant open your front door or it takes 2 hours to dig out your car.
We sure got that snow from 12/19-20/09...even here in RI...we had 15 inches.... BTW...if you're ''lightning fever''...I got quite a Tstorm video collection in YouTube....even I am a ''Tstorm-fever-freak''...wanna see some of my Tstorm videos?
i remember watching the news in the morning before i opened my curtains...it said "we are snowed out stay home we have 28'' of snow" ... im like whatever then i looked out...i thought it was heaven...btw thunder woke me up that day 0_o
If there is one thing that slows down NYC it's a major snow storm. The city gets a blizzard roughly once every two or three years and it's quite a site. The children and dogs seem to enjoy the snow more than everyone else. It's not a pretty site when the great melt starts...lol
My boyfriend and i spent that night together. It was so beautiful, and in the morning we went to central park to play in the snow. Too bad that we arent together anymore to do that. I still love you M..K
normally we get awesome snow storms... usualy a blizzard at least once.. but the past couple years bc of global warming.. we have had unusually warm winters... hoping this year is better
Well actually Global Warming was worst in 2005 but then after that temp's dropped more so this year I bet we are going to get at least 2-3 blizzards or snow storms, reaching to 6"-12" possibly more!!!!! So i'm happy because its colder this year than it was last year!!!
wow i live in jersey and if thats the blizzard of 06 i remember that wow nyc i got some friends that live there. wow man u got a beautiful view holy shit bro.
this is simply the best..love the music.

Why is it always a blizzard in USA every time it snows. A blizzard is a snow storm. This isnt a storm its simply falling snow.

Well, the main difference between a blizzard and a snowstorm is the wind speeds here in America. In other countries, the criteria may vary.

Or they may use the word when its apropriate ?
