I happen to have this problem recently( I bought this less than a year ago ). You turn on the xbox360 S console and after 1 hour of playing it start shutting down with every 10min and red light on the brick. Didn't see this problem with Wii or Any of Nintendo consoles that I played. I guess it's like american cars. Thanks to Microsoft!

From experience I've noticed the xbox is very fussy about what you plug it into. It doesn't (always) like to be plugged into surge protectors or power strips. Plug it directly into the wall outlet and it should be happy. Hope this helps.

it had nothing to do with the xbox or the brick.... is was the power outlet it was plugged into. same thing happned to me but when i went to a diffrent room in the house and tried it it worked fine... so im not sure if this is the case for everyone but it was for me so you should try it if you have the problem... so thumbs this up so people can see it.

I had the same problem today when I was playing gears of war 3. It just powered down out of the blue, I have the 250g 360slim and the brick was red.. Unpluged it and let it cool down and even change to a different power source(wall plug) and pluged it back in and the yellow light came back on. Now I sit back off and left for 30 mins came back and the brick light is totally off, nothing at all. Please tell me it's the brick that's bad? Not the whole 360 together

Who knows maybe it's a Error causing virus that Microsoft planted in there so you would buy a new Xbox lol, i'm glad i sold my 360 for a GFX card.

To me we as consumers should be protected from these faulty Hardware systems,with a lot of devices Tv's Radio's it's the case,you can bring back your purchase to the store and get a new one or get it fixed.

To me the PS3 and Xbox360 should have a standard waranty of 2 years like any other electronical device here in the Netherlands.

Another reason that causes the red light on the power brick is an external device (such as Wireless Adapter, Play&Charge cable, HDD or Memory Unit) short-circuit. Many people has fixed their red lights by simply removing the Play&Charge cable that was defective.

Also the power brick light will turn red or orange if one of USB port is deformed and the pins are touching each other. If your port is bent, broken or deformed, you may unbent or remove the pins to allow your Xbox to start.

How can microsoft not give at least a 2 year warranty on newly purchased 360's when they break for no reason at all and often with only a couple hours of normal use, i had my first 4 xbox360 premiums break for no reason, my 5th one has been a champ though lol, but i just bought a slim and its brining back awful memories of a new xbox with RROD :(. i have even bigger problem (xbox360 slim). Every time i play oblivion or assasins creed... the frame rates are EXTREMELY low . Oblivion has like maybe 19fps and Ac has about 22fps and its dropping and dropping. i have tested it in AV cables too but it wont help. PLEASE HELP ME. my friends Fat xbox doesnt have that problem. u problably used it too much it just recently happened to my ps3 because my little brotger turned off the wrong way so i had to wait 2-3 hours for it to have all corrupted filles and another stuff removed so it wont turn off by itself while i am using it ps3 and xbox360 are practilly the same so what i recomend is just leave it disconnected from evrything for about 2-3 hours and it ill problably work :)

the power brick is red for a reason

1. it is either not getting sufficient power 1:58 noticed there is a lot of cords plugged up

2. try to avoid an extension cord or surge protector

3. plug the power brick up in a different room

4. the outlet could be causing the problem
