As a Mexican-American in Texas, I am proud to say that our ancestors fought for the Confederate cause with outstanding bravery. I only wish more people knew about this...
@fullbarcafan Thank you very much, my friend, for your post. I hope this video may be seen by other Mexicans and Tejanos and will encourage them to learn more about their Southern Heritage. God Bless you, and God Bless your ancestors. ¡Viva La Confederación!
Why should they be sick to their stomach? I felt sick after hearing that pro-northern historians claim only whites served in the Confederate Army. These great men are all forgotten along with the Native Americans, and some Blacks who served in the C.S Army. Men who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their home, and their states. And just to have trash of the earth troll on the comments is sad. Living proof of public schools not telling the full story.
@SunofAusterlitz1805 Many of these guys look white, imo. But non-white mexicans fought, as well as Indian Americans and blacks. There are blacks in confederate heritage groups. Even home schoolers don't know though--- since many are generationally from northern places (where they fought for their own propaganda and way of life that we all live now), so it's not just public schools. The public media (msm, hollywood) provides a steady stream of anti-southern, anti-appalachian fare also
@westchesterny That's because there are White Mexicans, Mexicans who are of predominant or of European descent (usually Spanish or Irish) I'm predominantly European (I'm a Mexican-American) with some Yaqui and Apache admixture.
Many Mexicans fought and died along side Confederates they fought for there beloved Texas this is not somthing to be ashamed of but to be proud of.
Mexicans at the time hated the United States you need to remember this was less then 20 years after the United States invaded Mexico and captured Mexico City and anexed Mexicos northern territory.
Mexicans werent exactly happy with the US and was glad to spill yankee blood
What they were fighting for is debatable, your comment is just sick saying these brave men deserved to die?! You are a prime example of how low a person can get S.O.B. Colonel Santos Benavides defeated 200 Federal troops with just 42 Confederates, at the battle of Laredo. Which happens to be the town I grew up in and live.
@SunofAusterlitz1805 They are taught it was about slavery. Pretty funny in a weird way, since (even by its own narrative) the Yankee Nation, itself, now goes on about how many black men it imprisons and disenfranchises. If the 1865 census isn't lying, the diet on a plantation was really good. The slave narratives the wpa did in the 1930s are real slaves talking about their real lives (not the movie version) and you can get them online now.
@TexianPride It goes back to the quote "history is written by victor" making their history lost and forgotten. One side's history is written while the other is almost wiped out.
@toysruskid06 Given level of the attempt, it's sort of amazing--- people still have pics of relatives, heritage organizations, underground literature of war, of how they were affected, of the uglier sides of "reconstruction" and the burned land, farms, farm equipment, years of military occupation, redistribution of land, the taking away the vote, and so on--- to the present day of vilification of southerners, appalachians and bible belt, like on t.v. and in movies.
The Alamo had a number of Texas born Mexicans I think most know this around 20 to 40 Hispanic Texas fought and died for Texas Independance. (I hate it when people forget there bravery)
The Mexican American war began nearly a decade later and it ended when American forces took Mexico city.
This war ended in Americas victory and the anexation of nearly all of mexicos northern territory (our southwest)
We gave a fari price but to this day some mexicans see it as theft.

@10yearvet Acually America invaded Mexico shortly after the US anexed my home state of Texas.
The Mexican government refused to allow Texas to be anexed without a fight and border skirmishes exploaded in Texas and Mexico. The US responded with an invasion.
You are confusing the Texas Revolution with the Mexican American war.
The Texas revolution had absolutly no American presence and happened 10 years before Texas became a state and the Mexican American war began.

JUST MANY MEXICAN SUPPORT SOUTHERN COLONIES, FOR MANY OF WHY WE, THE USA AND SOUTH OF NORTHERN MEXICO ARE THE SAME! My grandparents WERE CAUGHT IN TEXAS STARTED WHEN THE DIVISION, THERE ARE MANY IN MEXICO MEXICAN FLAG WITH THE DIXIE, WHY HAVE READ THE HISTORY! AND PRIDE OF THE PAST! (THAT IS ONLY IN THE NORTH OF MEXICO) Baja California (Tijuana), Sonora (Hermosillo) EXAMPLE!
@TheEndofdays311 Acually the Mexican Empire supported the Confederacy
The Confederacy could never have fought as long without Mexico allowing Confederate goods to pass through Mexico to be traded to Europe free of Union blockade.
Texas was the Confederacys back door and Mexico was the where the doorway led to.
Bless Mexico and the Confederacy!
The Union invaded Mexico 20 years before the civil war and stole half of Mexicos territory how could a Mexican patriot support the Union of the 1800s?
Did these mexicans come into the confederacy in a legal manner? And if they did not, did southerner react the same as southerners do today about Illegal immigration?
gotta have that SOUTHERN PRIDE!

I think federal schooling is a disgrace and a tool of propaganda.
Texas hispanics died for Texas independance as well as the Confederacys attempt at indpendance.
This is fortgotton and it is disgusting.

@toysruskid06 Its disgusting that this happens to great men.
Out of hideing this history comes intolerance.
Mexicans spitting on the flag there ancestors probably fought under either direct or extended.
Blacks hateing the flag because other blacks seem to.
Asians..well...last I heard the Confederate flag was a symbol of american cars in Japan lol

The Confederate flag has been hijacked by the Ku Klux Klan which is a hate group they also use the Christian flag and the US flag.
The Confederacy fought along side the Mexicans and the Indians and even blacks this is easily confirmed by reading in to it.
The idea of the Confederacy being evil white supremacists is ignorant and simply untrue.
Please read in to the subject, ignorance about the Confederacy is far to common please dont be apart of the problem.
TexianPride 5 months ago
The south made deals with the indians they treated them as equals and promised them freedom and exclusive rights to there land.
The Confederacy knew they were alone and they knew the Indians would be great allies and he was right.
The Mexicans were easier they were allready in the south Texas that is and they fought as Texans not Mexicans.
The Mexicans also fought in intergrated companys somthing the Union would not alow.
TexianPride 5 months ago
@TheEndofdays311 To call the Confederacy white supremacist is ignorant beyond measure.
You confuse the Confederacy with the Ku Klux Klan.
The south was a very attractive alternative to most Mexicans and American Indians alike.
The south made deals with the tribes of Oklahoma very early on and the Indians fought along side the south as equals.
Look up Stand Watie he was a Confederate General and he was full indian.
There were many Indians who saw the Confederacy as there ticket to freedom.
