  • What a shitty video. I wanted informative. Not some lame background soundtrack.

  • Next time, just post the video. Leave the music off. And don't get pissy because people complain about it. If you post videos to be watched, listen to your audience. If you post them just for your own amusement, don't make them public.

  • Good clip, and thanks for sharing it, but it would be better off without the music. It just makes it harder to concentrate on what's being said.

  • Bill Maher, are you trying to say Santa is not real?!

  • the music was annoying , completely unnecessary. even if the rapper is atheist like some people say.

  • turn Bill Maher down so I can listen to this great music,

  • wtf is with this music?

  • This country had a talking Bush, but he never uttered and intelligent word.

  • @onebaud1 well we should of taken a page from moses and set him on fire

  • You should never put background noise wether its music or your wanking dick behind a informative video so the talk host seems almost muted.

Exspecially hiphop works great, great for that as hiphop sucks so badly.

  • Ima a rationalist! WOOOO yay for thinking!

  • why the F*CK would you put a dumbass soundtrack over this? And the ending is cut off. Moron.

  • good vid. love the credits at the end.

  • That 'music' (noise) really ruins it.

  • Uploader's a douche lol.

  • Haha i love the comments to this video.

  • Note to the uploader... When you post something with a dialog, it would behoove you to refrain from dubbing "music" over it.

    Thumbs down

  • I wanted to watch this, but the music was ridiculous! So stupid.

  • Have to agree - would "thumbs up" it if it wasn´t for the damn music.

  • Why the stupid music?

  • Wish I could hear what he's saying. Good job making it unaudible.

  • That's right Bill. You're either a rationalist or you are not. Now tell us again about vaccines...

  • please dont ever put another hip hop song behind a persuasive video, takes away from your persuasive video

  • was it necessary to have that gum bumping jungle bunny shit noise in the background?

  • was it necessary to have that gum bumping jungle bunny shit noise in the background?

  • he is an atheist rapper from what i understand...the music could have been added to the video a little different but we shouldnt atk each other over something as silly as a song. we get attacked enough from fanatics =)

  • i like this video but, given that the uploader is a bit of a fuck, i shall dislike it

  • 49 People like to listen to their politcal commentary and hip hop separately...

  • jesus gets no credit ,suck it jesus ROFLMAO WHOEVER MADE THIS VID MAD LOVE FOR YOU

  • ; Awful Music!

  • I'm all for a religious test for office.

Me: Do you believe in God?

    Candidate: Yes.

    Me: Out!

And yes, the music does ruin the video. You should re-upload.

  • ok news for all the world!! may be you all believed that the world was flat but the muslim Koran told this fact 1400 years ago... hence mr. Bill you are not rationalist you are really crazy and mis directed and certainly not good at reach. The fact that i have stated proves that Islam is the Right and religion.

  • yeah, great idea to put a hip hop beat behind it. douchebag.

  • @ShaunPhilly but you can barely hear what bill maher is saying with that annoying rap in the background. who cares if he is an athiest rapper, you don't have to put it in the background making it hard to pay attention to the REAL video playing.

  • @ShaunPhilly Yeah retards usually think its a good idea to mix the sound of talking with music.

  • @ShaunPhilly appropriate doesn't mean right.

  • @ShaunPhilly Noo, it's fucking annoying. I can't hear Bill.

  • @ShaunPhilly Appropriate as an intro or outro, maybe. Not over the dialogue itself, though; then it takes away from both the song and the rants.

  • @ShaunPhilly -

That's cool that he's an atheist rapper, I didn't know that. I think the music's okay, b/c the it doesn't drown-out Bill; you can hear both equally. Thanks for the vid. I LOVE Bill Maher!!

  • @ShaunPhilly i heard all atheists are alike each other, actually most atheists are close minded idiots.

  • @inconsistanttruth You don't have to be an atheist to see it is not a good idea to mix religious and politics. I don't care and it is none of my business or concern what "religion" a politician is and I would prefer that it not be a big decider in a choice for office and he is right about the stupidity of it all. No one is saying that spiritual beliefs are bad, but some groups and people take it to an extreme and I do not want someone like that running the country.

  • By the way, everyone who doesn't like the rap, dislike the video. Maybe we can give this idiot some motivation.

  • @elektrokuma Though I am no fan of people adding unnecessary soundtracks to videos, your criticism does not require inane insults. You my friend, should really grow up.

  • lol everybody goes "the music sucks" :D

  • this video is really bad..you shoulden't put music behind Bill speaking, you can't concentrate on what he's saying.

  • @ShaunPhilly hey relax, it is really not necessary to offend me. I just wanted to give my opinion, and if I hurt your feelings I'm sorry, but this is what I think of your video.

  • @ShaunPhilly when I say " you can't concentrate on what he's saying" I use the word "you" as plural, not "you = ShaunPhilly". Anyway I just poited out what I was thinking without insulting anybody and you repay me with arrogance typical of the worst wiseacre.

P.S: If you don't want anybody saying anything about your video on Youtube you can just turn off the comment option.

  • @ShaunPhilly

in fact: it is annoying! as you can see at the "thumbs up"!

  • @ShaunPhilly i'm an atheist but you act like a pompous douche. chill out and maybe your comments won't get voted down to getting censored on your own video.

  • @ShaunPhilly i amused by all the thumbs ups of the people who disagree with you

  • "To all religionists who have screwed up and will never enter the Kingdom of Reason for their wacky beliefs" You have every right to your wackiness and I have every right to mock the shit of them while you have no right not to be "offended", I mean c'mon, guys like you made sure women stay in the kitchens (or worse) unti the 1960's and gays in the closet (or worse) until our present day, so saying that your beliefs shouldn't be mocked, well... that is some nerve right there, church!e

  • That rap crap in the background is ..... I gave this a thumbs down for that crap NOT what Bill says.

  • But you did vote for Obama, didn't you Bill?

  • Lose the music!

  • To the ppl that keep say that the music in the back round is bad, that music is from an atheist rapper named greydon square and it has some pretty good lyrics, check his music out on YouTube

  • @Michaelnelson8630 lmfao, a atheist rapper... im sure hes not the only one

  • @Michaelnelson8630 And? We came to the video to get this-watch the video! Not listen to some rap shit when were trying to hear the man speak

  • THANK YOU!

  • That music is crap.

  • iT'S WHERE, i can't even believe so many claim to believe in a god? Are they shitin' us, or do they relly believe that shit?

  • Hey Bill, I can say that NO ONE except Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins believe exactly as I do- WE ALL KNOW THERE IS NO GOD

  • "people should bealbe"... indeed.

  • God that music in the background is annoying - couldn't even watch this clip.

  • Did you really feel this music needed to be played over this?

  • Good video, but the music is distracting and doesn't fit.

  • New Rule, if you are going to claim to be atheist, stop with the "praying for your safety" or "God help us", figure out your own sayings and stop using religion to express hope that you obviously do not believe in.

I always laugh when the big atheists see something like the earthquake in japan and then say something like, "we pray that you will be okay"... coming from an atheist... seems off. Should it be, "we will sit by and watch you"?

  • @bluefootedpig What atheist have you seen that said "we pray that you will be okay"? Now there are a lot who say "Goddammit!" or "Jesus Christ!" when something happens, but that's more to do with modern vernacular than a subconscious "belief". And in reference to Japan, you won't see any of us praying, rather just continue living our lives and hopefully donating to the proper charities to help people w/o handing them bibles when they need food/shelter/clothing/warmth, etc.

  • @calthopian Most common is "God bless them for..." that I hear from atheists. Yeah it is secular, but for people who are so big on the disbelief, it seems odd that they would still use the lingo related to Christian belief. Where is the Buddha damn it, or zues, etc.

  • @bluefootedpig I have never heard that said by an atheist before, though some may say things like that and when done its usually not the acknowledgment of Yahweh, as you said, its secular, as in the general god, lower case "G". It also has something to do with the fact that most atheists, especially in the west, are immersed in Christianity and carry the cultural baggage that comes with that culture. I have Buddhist friends that say Goddammit and Thank God, despite Buddhism not having deities.

  • @calthopian You should call them on it then

  • @bluefootedpig Not really, its an outgrowth of the culture in the West. I say things like "Jesus Fucking Christ" or "Goddammit" when I get mad not because I have a "subconscious belief" but because despite being an Atheist, I live in the USA, a country with an overwhelmingly Christian culture, and saying things like that are just products of the culture I live in. Just like Christian Arabs still refer to God as Allah, I'm using the poverty of language to best convey an emotion, period.

  • @calthopian I have never heard an atheist say they would pray for someone or ask god to bless them. I do say goddamnit and things like that to express frustration or anger, but most certaintly not because I believe in a god.

  • @s5b678 I know that's what I was explaining to bluefootedpig. I'm just not discounting that there could be Atheists who have that in their vocabulary, in the rest of my conversation with bluefootedpig I convey the same points you did.

  • Btw, great mix of Greydon and Maher. Everyone who hates because they associate all rap with shitty main stream hip hop needs to go and listen to some Greydon Square and understand the message before they judge.

  • @leocatt99

That the same rational Hitler used. If your not with us you're a pussy and are going to die. The Old Testament God is retarded and is completely counter intuitive towards religion altogether

  • If the directings for extreme self-denial by the 'prophets'

Krishna, Buddha and Christ isn't real, the righteousnes they

command isn't real, and that self-denial ISN'T real ! Though

there be mystical events involved in such efforts, of the

many many millions which have tried it, NONE have

succeeded. 'Perfection' is 'Carousel' (Logan's Run1976)

  • America's protestant christians don't believe in christ's perfection

nor his cross, and the claim they are born fundamentally

incapable of such righteousness is an insane condemnation of their

own god jesus ! The cathollc priesthood claim a knowledge of right

and wrong they infact do not posess, and they claim the power

to forgive and give or deny life they infact do not have.

  • @bootylicification *sigh* I hear this error all the time. Sounds logical until you realize that one of your premises is completely incorrect. Atheism is not the belief (let alone the faith) that there is no god. It is simply the lack of belief in such a being (for whatever reason). I have no faith at all, in anything. someone says there is a god, I simply don't believe them.

  • @bootylicification You got your shit backwards, son.

  • @bootylicification Atheists are taking the proper position when approached with such a claim. Atheism is the null hypothesis in this case. The burden of proof is on the person making the ridiculous claims, not the one who does not believe them. Atheism is the default position of humanity. You aren't born a christian, you are raised as one.

  • @bootylicification Not collecting stamps is not a hobby.

  • @bootylicification Hey you with the user-name that screams 'ignorance'. Before you tell us to go look up the dictionary definition of atheism, why don't you go look up the atheism on wiki, like the whole thing and not the just part of the first line (i.e. what you wrote).

  • Comment removed

  • @bootylicification You're an idiot. I'm sure you can find some proof on your own that people cannot float on clouds or be invisible. If you really need me to find that proof for you, you truly are a pathetic human being.

  • @bootylicification

Religion - The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods

    Atheism isn't a religion, dipshit.

  • Respond to this video... You had better seek the truth now, because there's nothing to see when you die. BECAUSE YOU'RE DEAD.

Do you really believe something you read in a book that was written 1500 years ago by the rich aristocracy about what was said by a man who died 500 years earlier, based on word of mouth narratives? If so you're pretty gullible.

  • @bootylicification Your comment is so asinine and obtuse that it is not deserving of a well thought out and intelligent retort. Therefore I shall simple call you a fucktard. That's correct your eyes do not decieve you, you're a fucktard.

  • I thought the music actually improved it.

  • lol when he delivered the "We're not the crazy ones!" He was obviously expecting a much bigger reaction from his studio audience.

  • Opinions do matter, but only if they are educated opinions. I was raised Catholic all my life and had started questioning my faith when I got to the stage of Confirmation. I researched the religions and decided that I don't like what religion stands for as a whole. I became agnostic /rational about a year before Religious was out and now I assert myself as a rationalist. Rationalists have as much right to defend their opinions as any Christian, Jew or Muslim so long as they are educated opinions

  • "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Revelation 21 verse 8

  • @leocat99 sooo what your saying is your god is a needy attention freak, then on top that your saying of i dont worship your god and make him feel all good inside he will torch me for eternity.

sounds like a real nice guy.

  • @caveman1968 - not exactly. God, not "my God" but the God of everyone will separate those who want to be with him for eternity, from those who don't want to be with him. Separation from God is defined as Hell. You will be torching yourself since the choice is yours. God will not force you to follow him.

  • @leocat99

Quoting from you particular brand of fiction is irrelevant to people who have lost their delusions.

Oh and your god is a dick, if he was real and I faced him I'd tell him so. He's gonna torture me anyway, I might as well tell him what an utter piece of shit he is.

  • @UnknownUserName4267 - Amazing, you sound almost as bitter as Maher.

God won't torture you, you will be torturing yourself. Hell is separation from God. He will grant your wish. You will have to create your own light, air, food, water, etc. That could kind of suck for you, I agree.

  • @leocat99

Seperation from god is NOT a punishment. Being seperated from such a barbaric monster will be a pleasure, plus I'll be with free thinkers and will avoid religious drones like you.

Seen as you haven't proved your god is real your premise is irrelevant.

May Zeus have mercy on your soul.

  • @UnknownUserName4267 - Excellent! We'll both be getting what we want.

You might want to start pumping the heavy narcotics, and begin wandering around on the interstate during rush hour so you can get away from the religious nuts like me sooner. If you can't wait long enough for that, you can go live an an atheist paradise like North Korea where it is guaranteed you won't be bothered by any Christian zealots.

  • @leocat99

I live in Europe so don't know any Christian zealots as our Christians are sane as are the Christians in the other parts of Europe. So I am away from utter fucking tools like you already. Dickhead.

  • @UnknownUserName4267 - Maybe Europe is now irrelevant because they gave up their Christian heritage? Too bad for you. It's funny, my church has missionaries that evangelize formerly Christian Europe, home of Martin Luther et al. LOL!

  • @leocat99 Realy, Europe is irrelevant? Yep, just as I thought, you're a fucktard.

  • @wrjuniper - Next time the smoke from the riots clear, take a look around and then get back to me. How many of your countries are going bankrupt over there? I shouldn't feel smug however, Atheist EUROPEAN socialist wannabes are bankrupting this country too.

  • @leocat99

Just checked your channel and you're friends with shockofgod. If that's the case you're beyond any hope. Good day.

  • You are ruining a perfectly fine video with this shit music.

  • Wonder why nobody is saying that the video is distracting from the music. Anyway, love Bill Maher and love Greydon Square but never the twain should meet. Seriously. What did you hope to achieve? I didn't understand where the hell the music was coming from until I read the posts.

  • because, flowerdna, Greydon Square is an atheist rapper. Your ignorance and apparent racism sickens me. I find you irritating.

  • Does anybody know if this clip is available without music? Why would you defile his humor with this irritating ghetto soundtrack?

  • You ruined this with that rap in the background.

  • the music is very annoying!

  • I didn't mind the music at all. I don't know why everyone's bitching, I think it kind of fits. Makes the video more...alive.

  • Thanks for posting this vid. In future. Lose the music. The message from Bill is all we want to hear......Just saying... ; )

  • Get rid of the rap.

  • Bill, wish there was more of you than the Glen Becks.

  • jesus was a man trying to teach peace. mankind bestowed all of the majical nonsense on him, its not his fault that religion is so fucked up. he's dead like we all will be.

  • A man wanting to spread teachings of peace doesn't introduce an eternal torture in hell, fashion whips to fling at people, damn fig trees, or talk to lingual asses.

    Read the Bible over again.

  • hes funny... i didnt find it offenceive... im a chirstan so i dissagree with what he said on most things that he said (part from the war thing he said ,jesus message was about peace and love). but people should bealbe to have their own thoughts. and shouldnt be mocked for them

  • No opinions should be mocked? What if I believe taht i was created by aliens and then delivered to my parents by a robotic stork?

  • @sxcboy4u You have a right to hold your beliefs; you do not have the right to demand no one mock them.

  • I'll say it again, I love watching Bill Maher, but for him to reduce Christianity to a bunch of fairy tales in the Bible that many Christians don't take literally anyway, and not see the message behind the stories and the gospels, is like being deliberately blunt. I find it a little painful. I don't know many Christians who would say the point of their faith is the ark, and the virgin, and water into wine. It's about loving your neighbor, at least for me it is. Maybe I'm too much of a pollyana

  • if its about the message behind the stories why do i see some many death to fags posters and people walking around with them?

  • sure, loving everyone.. except the gays, right? they burn in hell with the heretics.

  • @suzanne217elise what's so wrong about peace, love, and morality for it's own sake? I'm an atheist and I find it easy to be a decent person without the guidance of others.

  • @apictureoffunction nothing's wrong with that whatsoever, but there's nothing wrong with a faith-driven pursuit of the same values either, and on this one issue, Bill Maher mocks that which he does not understand.

  • @suzanne217elise Does not understand? His mom was Jewish and his dad was Catholic, he went to church till the age of 13. I think he knows as much about religion as any normal person would.

  • @apictureoffunction I'm a 24 yr old Christian who has been in and out of Church all my life and back in it consistantly for the past 3 years, and I would not claim to understand religion, let alone spirituality and why people walk the paths they do. I don't know what "normal person" means but no, I don't think Mahr understands the deeper reasons people have for believing in a higher power, and no one has to understand them, just let them be.

  • Bill Maher in 2012!!!! We can do this!!!!!!!!

  • he's on HBO, used to be on ABC but he was considered too inappropriate, while really he just wasn't being politically correct (funnily enough, the name of the show was called politically incorrect)

So that might be why you don't know him

  • Go crawl back under a rock with your musty old tome and beat yourself with a stick for your impure thoughts, herr troll. I guess in your case it's ok to tell lies, so long as your lying to heathens.

  • I took the moniker originally because I was an AD&D DM. It became handy later in political forums, when I was told what a "monster" I was for being critical of Marxism and Russian Bolshevism, way back on McSpotlight.

Nowadays it seems a good sarcastic twist on the venom and personal abuse I seem to generate amongst so-called "well meaning" liberals and Leftists.

So maybe my vocation is to help point out and cure your own "cruelty"? How does my "Book" square with that?

  • Religious literalism was far more popular a century ago, when our economy was growing and when our schools worked. The people responsible for socialist regulation of businesses and overpaid, incompetant, unionized teachers are also overwhelmingly anti-Christian and antagonistic towards religion.

You can use whatever criteria you like in the voting booth. That's your right. So can I.

  • Nice name "Christian"? bet you are, Jesus saved you and you pick a name like Dr. Cruel.. lol that is typical monderen day "Christian"...lol ok so now we got supposedly sweet loving jesua and his co-hort.... Dr. Cruel. If that dude comes back hes going to kick YOUR ass...lol...read your book again...lol

  • Nice Greydon Squares in the background.

  • what's with the shitty song over the clip!?

  • please, just embrace the normal values of life and set an example. i try hard but when i profess anarchy and i get drunk and fuck my friends mom i seem to loose credibility w him. he seems to embrace his crazy everything earthy is evil mind state. you are responsible for you. existential a little i guess.

  • I might be able to hear him if someone wasn't rapping over the whole damn thing.

  • I like the music, what is it?

Bill Maher takes religion way too literally.

I'm an atheist too, but I know that most religious people don't actually believe in the story of the Ark or the Burning Bush.

They're not to be taken literally.

  • most? think again.

only the minority in religious community are rationalists. The majority are the literalist ones.

You can google each state to see it. Start with Alaska, Texas, Georgia... first.

  • Is the church is teaching these things literally?

i always thought the majority were just teaching rationalized views of the bible. If you look at pop culture, in tv shows, most of the characters who are religious have this perspective.

  • pop culture? XD They are among the most coward people when it comes to confront the "religulous" people. They also the ones who rarely read the bible.

But yeah, they do take things literally out of the scripture. That's the problem with abrahamic religions.

Why do you think gay marriage is banned? Not because of the name, think deeper.

Why do you think women are empowered in islamic countries? Cos of literalism.

  • I mean, mainstream views. Surely the mainstream view in America is still a non-literal perspective on the bible?

  • XD they don't.

Religious literalism has been taken seriously starting from the Nixon time.

I mean, it's easy to understand this phenomenon. We have a dumbing down process in America since 1970s. Kids failing schools, candidates believe that the universe was formed 600000 yrs ago.

Only a minority, who are scholars or at least well-educated, don't take religion seriously or literally. But that's a minority.

  • I'll take your word for it, I'm in Australia.

    Hard to believe though.

  • dear anobody911,

    you're not taken literally either.

Speak the truth. Read the Bible.

  • the anybody' name is designed to harken back to 911 to give weight to his argument ..right or wrong what about 911 they say, Like yeah but we were persecuted in the holocost....like its a reason to be immoral.

  • Yea i agree, I can't say that I'm an atheist but neither am I a fanatic. But the problem with either polar end is that their bickering makes them hypocritical. Therefore its hard to listen to what they say with taking it with a grain of salt. I'd say more but I would have difficulty wording it, and I don't want to be in a shouting match either :). Let me just say that for all intents and purposes both sides are mistaken.

  • only in america, where people who was not brainwashed at the tender age of 5 that jesus is teh shit, are told they are atheists by religious people so they can group them together.

visit a secular country where most are non believers by default, you wont find a hypocrit there, atleast not 50/50

  • Bill maher is known for saying that he isn't an atheist at all, but a "rationalist" or someone who just doesn't know what is really out there.

this means he doesn't believe in religion, but he still believes that a moral life is a better life.

A very big deal of the "Golden Rule"

  • The music adds nothing.

  • Favorited and 5*'s.

  • ah, great

  • One more rationalist, right here.

    Thanks for the vid!

  • You don't like the music? don't watch my fucking video then.

  • The thing is, I really want to see the vid, but honestly, the music is really distracting and basically annoying. Nothing personal, but I'm sure most would agree it'd be better without.Consider it?

    Peace!

  • I simply disagree. I lower the volume of the song throughout most of the video so that it's not in the way. I simply don't understand why it's such a big deal. If you just want to hear Bill Maher talk, youtube has plenty of that.

  • @kristicarmen I made it five seconds but I couldn't handle Dr. Droop or whoever the fuck the idiot rapper is.

  • ruined it with the bullshit music, good job.

  • Religion and State must be kept separate EVEN Jesus said it:Give to Ceasar what s owned by Ceasar and to God what s owned by God,so those christians who wants to be involved in politics are making a big mistake and they should not be involved in politics.Remember Satan gives the political dominion to who he wants

  • What song is this?

  • It's Greydon Square, an atheist rapper. It's from the album called "The Compton Effect" and is called "A Rational Response."

  • I like it. Well done... It's Religulous!

  • Is there a reason you have the annoying and repetitious music playing in the background? It's pretty pointless, isn't it?

  • i agree, but in some way, it conveys pretty well the anger rationalists, atheists and anyone who's been swindled, lied to or just plain assraped by a priest may feel

  • It's happening. The explosion of rationalist thinkers is increasing. Still only approx. 20% of the USA, but a waterfall starts with a droplet.

Perhaps it is the logical use of home computers and technology in general that is making people more rational decision-makers. For instance, you don't pray for your computer to turn on - you have to push a button. Therefore, rational technology is making people understand cause and effect a bit better. Maybe.

    Michael from Canada

  • Damn right Bill.

The truth is not a democracy
