  • What is the name of the first tune?

  • @saskjoe1968

    It's Sonny's Mazurka

  • I love how he references the weather condition... a frustration only a seasoned piper can appreciate

  • Not to put down your hard work; but it sounds sharp in the B chanter. In my opinion it would be best to make a reed to suit its particular dimensions. But it's not so bad that it isn't passable; it's a good show, and I think it soundly demonstrates that it's possible to standardize reeds for certain makes of chanters, which would be a very positive thing for the flat-piping world. After all; custom flat-chanter reeds are incredibly expensive, and there's no going around customs for many sets.

  • How about in a D chanter? To much of a stretch?

  • Yeah, the D chanter is a much different bore and thus requires a very different design of reed. Cheers...

  • Very good! Are you going to let us in on the secret then?

  • Yeah, I will eventually. I want to do a little more tweaking first. :-)

  • Hi Dave

Very clever! I'll have to chat to you more about how you did it next time I come up to Brissie!

    Andrew

  • Thanks Andrew....see you when you next come up.

  • Good job on the reed Aussie!

  • Thanks Ghleannadubh...still a work in progress but quite satisfying to date :-)

  • fantastic!! My friend plays a Brad Angus full set in B. The reeds are one size fits all for the regs and chanter

  • Thanks Pipewatcher....interesting about the Angus sets..cheers..
