  • really awesome! Canadian comes as enemy, go as friend! i'm very proud about this developing! hail Canada, god will bless our and all other troops!

  • i love canada. youre always welcome here in germany. greetz.

  • You are allways welcome here in Munster Germany.

  • "Among grrr-bowwow-woof patriots, there exists a heady delusion of American potency, that the US has “the greatest military power the world has ever seen.” Ah. And when did it last win a war? In Afghanistan, for ten years the gloriousest military ever known, the expensivist, and whoosh-bangiest, hasn’t managed to defeat a bunch of pissed-off illiterates with AKs and RPGs." - Fred Reed, ex-Marine

  • The 40 2A4 will be used for like training on exercises but if we need them they will be deployed with another 20 2A4 being converted into support variants like tank tow trucks

  • @Opelneuling no bought from Germany we have 40 2A6M CAN and 20 2A4M CAN these tanks are ment for emergency deployment and we also have 40 2A4 tanks for training not tank training were gonna use the old C2 for tank training

  • hell yeah, this thing is kicking ass in Afghanistan, thanks germnay

  • germans are by far the best at making tanks. the tiger tank in ww2 was far superior to the sherman, but the sherman had more of them, if there were more tiger tanks, germany may of won ww2

  • the canadians have a good taste! xD

  • this is all pathetic and sad....just games being played

  • leasing by germany ;)

  • I would probably join in Canadian Army and I like to be crew of this MONSTER!

  • @f50koenigg i can only say he is very good i was a driver of a leopard 2a4

  • German Power Yeah Leopard :-)

    Greetings from Germany

  • @DCDave100 es kann nur einen geben Leopard 2

  • on getting this tank for the canadian army, it's about goddam time....

  • des is a deutscher panzer

  • whats wrong with the Asian dude, his probably born in Canada and grew as a Canadian.I was not born in Canada but i will be joining the force and will be proud to serve.Canada is a Multicultural country after all so i don't see why not Asian immigrants get to serve and die for the country the gave them opportunity of a good life.

Maybe after high school or after University.

  • @magicstorm1

Because you have a reasonable immigration policy in Canada.

We in Germany just accepting all low level immigrants(i do not say, they are bad people, they are just looking for better life)...supporting them and then facing problems because they are not fitting in our society.Especially this Islam shit is causing problems.

  • The swedes made a variant of the Leo II, which is a german tank.

  • The Vietnamese officer ...

I guess Canadians know how to win a war.

  • lmfao... wel alot of koreans and vietnamese became refugees and came to canada...

  • Where is Monster? maybe the town of Münster is ment.

  • They mean Munster, which is in Lower Saxony.

There are also several towns called Münster in Germany which sometimes get confused with Munster.

Luckily we dont have a city called Monster .... as far is i know that is. :-D

  • @Celeon999A

This tank is a monster xD

  • @Celeon999A du you know that the chirch in Munster was hit a time and the nursery school. because there are more places from where they shoot to an other place and one time they have made something wrong :-)))))) but nobody was killed

    or hit

  • lol, asian officer.

  • canadas millitary kicks ass.... search up canadian lav mobility test and watch canadian might in action

  • Well if you think that LAV is good go chek Patria AMV (armored modular vehicle) mate

  • lol, asian

  • Why the Canadian Tanks have the sign of the German Bundeswehr????

  • Afaik the Canadian Troops were training on German Leopard 2 A6. When the A6M CAN arrived in AFG for the Canadian units they had Canadian Signs.

  • some of them are borwoed from the Germans

  • Ahh thank you ;) Some are also taken to test the Leo2A6M right?

  • The canadian crews were trained with 2A6M's from the Panzerlehrbrigade 9, propably from its Panzerlehrbataillon 93 , hence the markings.

The canadian ones were still in process of refitting at that time. They recieved additional allround slat armour , canadian radios and new air filters.

  • because where lame and can't just buy them, we have to "rent" them. we SHOULD just design our own tank, everythign we design ALWAYS is TOP of the world in effectivness. just look at the LAV 3,

  • Well, the Germans make the best Weapons Worldwide, thats are Facts!Hmm it's easier to buy a Tank than design a Tank, but I think so you don't...

  • Its not about whats easier, its about whats cheaper !

Germany spent around...wait let me convert.... today it would be equal around half a billion u.s dollars to develop the Leopard 2. And that were just the development costs.

After that you still havent bought a single one from the manufacturer. And you need to order enough to have the manufacturer make a profit at all after the huge sum he had to spent for R&D.

  • So in the end Canada may either need to order way more tanks than its needs to justify the costs... and the tax payer pays for them (try to sell that idea to them :-D ) ....

or develop a tank which is way better and at the same time maybe also cheaper than most other tanks already on the market and export them to over a dozen countries to justify the overall costs.

The latter is propably a too expensive and too risky option with rather slim chances of success.

  • no your right:)

i just say if we designed our own tank , we could sell/loan/use it, and canada is very capable of building good tanks, exspceially now with an economic decline, job creation and international money pumped into out country would be good for the country, just my opinion.

  • Germans are good at making armored vehicles, maybe the best. As for other stuff I wouldn't go so far to say the best, far from it really.

  • well yes we make the best(Puma,Marder,PzH-2000,Leopard2A6,Eurofighter,Eurocopter etc) the best and parts of the best...

and we make the best weapons for soldiers (PSG1A1,G36,(X)M8,UMP,MP5,MP7A1,UMP etc) best of the World, its in our blood;) but we do lot of shit with the weapons...i say only WW2....w

  • Eurofighter and Eurocopter, well those are just German and furthermore they aren't the best.

  • BRO those are the best.

  • Not even close.

And I meant to say "aren't just German"

  • but they are 1 of the best, the 2nd best

  • Huh? Canadian design stuff that's ALWAYS on TOP of the world? lmao!

LAV III, nice. Best in the world? Might interest you it was built by General Dynamics (US) lol.

  • its built in a canadian factory my friend

  • I know, it's built by General Dynamics Land Systems (formerly General Motors Defense Division) in London, Ontario.

Just pointing out to you that General Dynamics is a US defense conglomerate corporation.

It's a great machine, for a wheeled APC, but it's not exactly above and beyond other similar ones.

But just for kicks care to elaborate on other stuff Canada designed that's the top of the world in effectiveness?

  • "But just for kicks care to elaborate on other stuff Canada designed that's the top of the world in effectiveness?"

    Soldier training

  • Soldier training is good, but not the best. Next?

  • So do you disagree with the statement that "everything we (Canadians) design is always at the top of the world in effectiveness"?

That's all I was referring to.

  • srry bud have not been on in awhile!

and i never said we had "the best", i said where top quality, which we are, idk where ur from havnt checked ur profile but if ur american so do u "dah"

  • ok I see where you are coming from mate, Canadian stuff is good I just think your comment was a bit exaggerated and no Im Australian we dont make hardly any of our own stuff mostly buy from USA, Canada, UK.

  • well what comes the artic ware fare have you ever hear from FDF or Finnish defence forces? at least we have some prowen facts of that mater or have you heard eany other millitary that fight against USSR for 105 days in -25 to even -45 degree in assult that was 3 bigger than assult in Normandy on D-day. And kill 200 000 USSR soldiers and lost only 25 000 own troops. Or where do you think comes saying Cold as an Russian hell?

  • another Troll, hello :)

  • Wow...you really have no idea what you're talking about. Go back and play X-box for awhile....either that or tell me all about your vast experience with Armour....idiot.

  • Whats make the T-90 better than M1 or Leo2?They are better in every way!Better Gun,faster, better Range, more Fire Range (Leopard2A6,M1 not),better Armor etc!

T-95 is much different to Black Eagle, you just hear it,but you havnt any idea about this Tanks! The Black Eagle is T-80UM Black Eagle!T-95 is Top Secret! We dont know anything about it!

    So dont talk any shot!

  • does anyone know what channel Army News is on for SHAW DIGITAL and what time my dad said it was channel 10 i believe him but i need the time and if hes wrong the channel. (please respond directly to me or else ill forget).

  • Everyone says Germany has the best tanks yet none of them have proven themselves in combat.

  • Maybe because they are too good to need to be proven.

  • ROFL

  • Nor has the Challenger or M1, going up against outdated Russian tanks and poorly trained Iraqy troops does not qualify as proven in combat, get a BRAIN please, THINK.

I tell you what; put the Challenger and M1 up against the Leopard in combat, take the outcome and get back to me, THAT would be having all THREE tanks combat proven.

  • Are you unaware that Iraqs military was modern when the US invaded? They had tons of US weapons. You need to check you're shit before you talk.

  • you are ignorant and thus you are forgiven.

  • Fail

  • @dirtbikeryzz And they also had tons of WMDs ...

  • Well, of course we could do some field testing. But then they call it WW3 and we're the Bad Guys again ...

  • Yeah i dunno why ...but i like canada...greetings from Germany....from the country with the best tanks of the world xD

  • Comment removed

  • yeah thx too xD

  • Thanks man, I am going to join The canadian forces and now that i know that we have leopards I definitely want to get in the armored corp. Lots of respect for the Germany military exploits and engineering.

  • thank god,the americans were saying that they made the leoprad

  • what ???.... they said they made the leo ??... LOL , NOOOOO everybody knows that the leo is german engineering ;-)

  • i know right

  • the us only wishes they could make a tank like this this is the best tank in the world rite now

  • It's got it's disadavtanges... for example, the upgrades make the tank a little bit to heavy for the chassis.

  • do we (Canada) have any A-10's(WartHogs)?

  • unfourtunately we dont. All NATO members should though seeing as they are such effective tank-busters.

  • That Tanks a Beast!..Glad its protecting our boys

  • Dude. The canucks buy everything from the US now all of the sudden they buy there tanks from the Germans. I'm an American and I can see the writing on the wall. TIME TO REPLACE THE M1A2 NOW!!

  • Well, Canada bought its Leopard 1s already in 1978.

    Thats not that suddenly :)

  • ...And my (Canadian) university is developing weapons for the US.

  • Actually, there is very few things that we've bought from the Yanks over the years since 1918. Most of the tanks we received either came from the Brits, the French or were designed and built in Canada based on American tanks.

But you take a look at the Germans, and the masterminds of tanks that they became in WW2 with the King Tiger, Panther II, etc. then the Leopard was develop in what we call "the modern era" which is the best tank ever created after WW2.

  • you are an american from a population of 300million people that love and pay so much attention to there country so keep it that way.stop thiniking and don't think you know everyting about your allies we might be bothers but leave it at that.

and by the way its (canada-canadian) and we dont buy everthing from you infact we have sold more tanks to you then bought from.look up the ciotey tank.its a rezemblince to the sherman because just like the m1grand it was dizinde by a canadian prodced byUS

  • I recall reading as a kid back in the eighties, that under NATO arrangements the Canadian Armed Forces and the Bundeswehr had a long-standing special relationship: The Germans had a special tank unit of Leopards headquartered on a base somewhere in the prairie provinces where they could send their tankers to work out and hold exercises in the wide open spaces in return for unspecified favors.

  • u.s tankS was made 25yrs ago,and it's still on top SOON COMING M1A3 "xxx"

  • Well, the M1A uses german technology. Has our gun, our stabilizing system, aiming system and our gearbox. So, your so called super tank is mainly german. And by the way...german tanks have always been the best in the world and always will be. The Leopard is faster, shoots more accurate, has a better protection system, uses less fuel etc. Leopard rules....good choice by the Canadians. Ey

  • As our General Patton memorably put it: "My men can eat their belts, but my tanks have gotta have gas."

  • its eh not ey

  • lol

  • @Rauhbauty i dont think he knows there is a military technology sharing pact between germany and america, when this little pact drops ... american technology will plumit :))

  • @Rauhbauty

Its "eh" get it right :p EH! haha

  • @Rauhbauty

all I have to say is its fuckin EH, don't get it wrong thats embarassing considering your knowledge on tanks.

  • your country should use there own tanks oh yea they have none of there own made u.s of american the u.s tank was made 25yrs ago,and it's still on top SOON COMING M1A3

  • i what see how far it will come with a gas turbine what in the m1a2 was becuase it is a gas gusler. So shut the fuck and canada and the other country who have the leopard are happy with it and it is the best

  • german weapons are sexie!

  • is canada planning to replace its entire leo1 fleet with leopard2a6.

canadian army really has some knowledge about armour warfare.

  • Canadians were wise choosing the right tank over wrong ones(e.g. merkava, abrams, challenger etc) :D

  • The Canadian army has good taste with its armour.

    Go Canada

  • The Taliban are so fucked!

  • lmfao

  • What is that M behind the name?

    Leopard 2a6M...

  • (M)inenschutz ;)

  • owke :) thanks:D

  • what exactly does Minenshutz mean?

  • Mine protection. The M refers to the extra belly plate ,the suspended seats for the crew , relocation of several components inside the turret and modifications on the chassis.

  • Minenschutz means Mine protection. The new leopard 2A6M is the new Version and has improved armor and Mineprotection.

  • R.I.P. Leduc, tu vas nous manquer.

  • It would be funny if people start bringing Panzer tanks into the War Lol XD

  • Panzer tanks? you just said "tank tanks"

  • but the bad thing about the leo 2a6's is that we are borrowing them instead of buying them....i mean what's the point in that? why couldn't we just buy them instead?

  • Look at my other video "Leopard 2A6M protection" , at the second page of comments. There ive explained why Canada did so. ;)

  • Because the german KrausMaffeiWegman company could not produce so fast :-)

  • Funny, the canadians didn´t pick the Challenger2...must be something about the good old Leopard2,so much about Abrams and the rest;)

  • Yeah, we are FINALLY upgrading from our old Leo 1 C2's. You can't beat German engineering!

  • the chally2 is heavier,2x the price, and the CLIP ones arent for sale..

  • Made in Germany

  • LOL, Leopard II's are great, it's a great package, altogether. Go Canada!

  • Go Canada I love canada

  • Danish and Canadian troops are massacring the Taliban with these Leo 2s!

  • I dont know if they actually use them there..do they?

  • Yes they do. The english wikipedia article about the Leopard 2 features some action reports in Afghanistan under its ISAF/OEF paragraph.

  • the Dutch soon too :))) The panzerhaubitze 2000 is there allready

  • the MG3 is the further development of the MG42

  • not realy development but its tuned to use 7.62s

  • i like the fact that were useing the MG-3

  • Good stuff. :)

  • Awesome vid! Good to hear we updated the CF with these badboys

  • is he always sain MONSTER germany....oh that turned me in such an emo kid...

  • Well to be precise, the town is Munster (not Münster) located in the Lünebrurger Heide and there is a huge shooting range for tanks in germany

  • Mmmm, L2's.. Considered by many to be the best tank in the world.

  • Leo2 and M1A2 are the results of a joint research project between the U.S.Army and the Bundeswehr. It was in the early 70's.

I was lucky. At my military basic training i got invited to stay 2Weeks at this Tank battalion in Münster. 2 weeks as a gunnery private. It was the best time at my service. At least 70% faster as the "Feuerleitcomputer"(sorry, forgot the right transl. AimingComputer???)

  • Shortly before the end of the cold war, the Leopard 2 was to recieve a new 140mm smoothbore gun and a autoloader but that was put on ice as the soviet union dissolved.

  • yes canada spent 1.3 billion bucks on 100 A4 models. slightly used... thats what the news said here not A6. And the A4 still uses the 105mm rounds rather than the new 120.

  • Nope, the Leopard 2 had a 120 mm smoothbore gun right from the beginning and in all version.

The dutch A4's have it also. They have the shorter version which the M1A2 Abrams uses too. It was replaced with the newer longer one in the A6 upgrade (Seen in this video)

  • Not 105 mm friend, always had 120 smoothbore.

  • They also bought 20 Leopard 2A6's for use in Afghanistan

  • Actually, they just rented them. German law prohibits arm sales into conflict zones. Of course, after they take them out of Afghanistan, the canadian army will buy 20 "slightly used" Leos for a special discount price. ;)

  • Thanks for the clarification...just a small detaail :-).

  • nis vid

  • The Leopard's are one of the best designed tanks in the world, this new addition to the Armoured Corps family, will be a long awaited welcome.

  • Nice Video, good job!!!

  • especially the rheinmetall gun ;)

  • At least you can now rightfully claim that your tanks have the better main guns as the A6 has the successor of the gun that the M1A2 Abrams uses. 25 % longer , bigger range and muzzle velocity which means greater penetration power for APFSDS rounds. ;)

  • i love that tank it has been said to be the best tank in the world. so i guess american abrams crews can stop thinking theyre the beast.

  • Fuck, training in Germany, that had to be a good go!

  • were buying 40 2A4's and 40 2A6's, not 2A6M, 2A6M is a special version designed for land mines and IED's, but we are leasing 2A6M's from germany for afghanistan, and yeah 20 support variants

  • Thanks for the clarification :) Do you know if Canada is planning to buy the leased ones too in the end ? This is usually the common procedure, first you lease but then you buy them for a fair price a little later.

  • im not sure all i know is the the stuff i said earlier, but i sure hope we do becuase personaly i dont think 80 battletanks is enough to defend the second largest country in the world :)

  • you can also check out w ww dnd ca and see if you can find more info

  • The 'M' variant is add on plating that is a very simple bolt on mod. I believe that we (the Canadian Army) will be upgrading our A6's to A6M. There is also slat armour being added to make RPG rounds much less effective.

  • The Leopard 2 has air conditioning and air filters which make it usable in artic or desert regions. Canada leased 20 Leo2A6M's from Germany for immidiate use in Afghanistan and plans to buy 80 surplus A6M's from the Netherlands soon. (Aswell as 20 support vehicles)

  • Nice, I did not know that Canada was buying german stuff.

  • They had/have a modified Leopard 1 before but it proofed unsuitable for the climate in Afghanistan as it has no air conditioning system. The tank crews were suffering a lot in them as they became ovens on tracks in the Afghan summer sun. The Leo 1 was designed for tank battles in europe not for scorching deserts :)
