I love her gymnastics, but I'm afraid those really hard skills (arabian dismount, etc.) are gonna wear her out. I feel the coaches are pushing her a bit too far for her age.
Not necessarily, in gymnastics you can get injured at absolutely any point . But her skills are really hard and she might just get too tired, too worn out by the time she's supposed to be peaking. That'd be a great shame.
I feel the same not only about Komova, but also about all this generation of great russian juniors. I hope they (the coaches) know what they are doing, because it would be a shame to waste all this talent...
Definitely and not just the Russians, I think with the new Code, though it has gotten better, puts a lot of emphasis on difficulty, driving the coaches into teaching more difficult skills to younger athletes. Jordan Weiber for example, is only 14 and she competes an Amanar, a Ray dismount on bars and a back with a full on beam. In Russia's case, I think the federation want to regain their legacy so much that they're teaching their younger gymnasts these skills to get out of their 'rut'.
Amazing.
