  • the quality is a bit disappointing /: otherwise, thanks for posting these clips. They make me happy :)

  • is it just me, or is this a lot like the robert and elizabeth sketch from their footlights revue?

  • @Skeew1 - it is a bit, but its still hilarious though!

  • British porn never really did it for me.

  • I like broth but with a soupy twist.

  • Brrrrrrroth!

  • Hey, isn't this a parody of The Invalid, the book that Hugh suggested Stephen read when he said that Jane Eyre was balls? Different sketch I know but...

  • @weirdlightsaber44 Thats what I thought! Tarbutt? Double balls and bollocks! haha...

  • @KatiB88 It's a London/Southeast England accent.

  • Fry = Oscar Wilde

    Laurie = Charles Dickens

    the appearances are uncanny

  • what accent is hugh's last character speaking with?

  • Ah 'Best 'o British'.

  • i think more fights should start with "then sup on this!"

  • 3:06 Hugh Laurie is great and all, but makes a REALLY ugly woman. Haha!

  • @oblivionsnightmare I dunno, I think he's kinda cute. XD

  • "All! The devil fly away with your impudence!" ;D

  • Fry's Wilde audition tape, much?

  • Oh my god, it's Oscar Wilde.

  • Comment removed

  • This is the lost episode of Blackadder

  • Wilde has ruined this sketch for me.

  • Looks like Oscar Wilde just walked into her room :P

  • @GiniBaggins THAT'S WHAT I SAID!

  • The whole show was genius. You may be interested to know that on the first showing in 1991 the recipe really WAS shown on ceefax page 627 that night!

  • You DARE to presume upon a sick girl with SOUP?!

  • Oh, my God! It's Hugh Laurie's evil twin!

  • whos the girl?

  • Fry and Laurie dressed in Victorian attire: OMG! That would be, undoubtedly, my greatest sexual fantasy :)

  • BrrrOTH?

  • is that all?

--All? The devil fly away with your impudence.

Of course, it is not all.

This stuff feeds the metaphorical soul! I wish it was on tv in the US

  • there's Stephen wishing he was Oscar Wilde again. When he first walked in and I didn't see his chair was so curly I was like 'oh here we go again' (Anyone who has seen Stephen Fry IN 'Wilde' will know what I'm talking about)). Not that I can say anyhting...I'd cosplay as Wilde too!

That poor girl looks like she's gonna puke! oh and- the answer is, of course, both- then take the girl out! (Sorry- I love Fry/Laurie slash) I love this! SOOO funny! <3

  • @katelynna10000 So true, so true. A part of me wants to watch this as the epic Wilde-versus-Dickens battle that never was. And I bet Hugh Laurie would be richer than Bill Gates now if he had a pound for every time Stephen tried to proposition him... :)

  • @katelynna10000 LOL, if Stephen looks like Wilde, then Hugh looks like Whistler. Theres the Wilde/Whistler enmity again xD

  • I wouldn't suppose Victorian ladies end sentences in prepositions.

  • @afz902k she's out of character at that point in the sketch isn't she?

  • Is it just me, or does Hugh look a bit like Arnold Schwarzeneger in the clip beggining at 3:29

  • hugh at 3:13 is so hot!

  • They look quite dashing in Victorian garb, do they not?

  • Hugh Laurie is hot in drag.

  • "In the meantime, I'm going to have to decide which of these two to have sex with"

Am I the only one who shouted "BOTH AT ONCE!!!!"?

  • @Wonkapoo

    No. No, you are not.

  • !!!!!!! "In the meantime, I'm going to have to decide which of these two to have sex with!

    HAHA!

  • I have just discovered what my own personal heaven would be:

These two guys, dressed as Victorian gentlemen, competing for my affections! ahhh...

  • That would be wonderful!

  • with their "delicious" broth/dish or saucer of soup?

  • What a video! I think Stephen Fry in particular was really brilliant in this ("Elizabeth, I cannot recommend that you endanger your delicate constitution with coarse peasant brrroths!") :D

  • my favorite characters are the short ones like the old lady or man.....lol

  • I bet that one day, people will ask what Ceefax is under this :-)

  • cee-fax?

  • No, just 'Ceefax'. No hyphen.... It means 'see facts'

  • i know, i said it for pahthetic lols. thanks anyway

  • Sorry!

  • oh - my -god !

  • "Then sup on this!"

    :D

  • Yes - BBC period dramas are this painful to watch. Like treading water in custard.

  • That actually sounds like a lot of fun.

  • Oh my god i love custard! Give me a pool of custard in which to tread!!!! But please, keep the period dramas away from me.

  • If you want to see a mockery of Period Dramas, type "stephen fry and emma thompson" into the search bar of youtube, and click on the first link with stephen and emma in period clothes - I swear, it is one of the funniest videos i have ever, ever seen!

  • It shows that some of the best Comedy doesn't have to be from what is said, but from the way its said. Just Fry's pronunciation of 'Soup' is very Funny.

  • My god, that woman at the end is AMAZING! ;)

  • Hugh at 3:07 lol - they both look so cute in women's clothes even if they still sound like Jeeves and Wooster!

  • And this is why you don't let men in the kitchen to cook. Just make it a threesome.

  • Sounds like Monty Python without Cleese and Idle.

  • yeah, thanks for spoiling that for me,lad

  • (Lady, not lad ^_^) It was just funny to me, you needn't get so sensitive about it. I meant no harm.

  • Great Stuff!!!!!!!!!!

When I first saw this I laughed like a drain, but didn't get another chance to see it until now!

  • Dish OR saucer! :)

Hugh looks quite girlish at 3:18!

  • haha "i too knew that i would come"

  • So, in the final segment why does Hugh have a smudge on his left cheek?

  • I'm guessing that since his shirt appears to be rumpled and grass-stained that the fellow he's portraying has been indulging in a friendly rugby match or the like.

  • I think I might just try this wooing technique on my next unfortunate victim that I invite to dinner.I just need to decide whether to serve them soup reconstituted from boiled horses rectum or broth made from fried bull's penis.tough choice ??

  • lmao

  • lmfao

  • "BROTH??!?!"

  • She has to pick ONE to have sex with? How ever will she choose?

  • that's what threesomes are for, hello! LOL Stephen is channeling Wilde again it seems, while Hugh is engaged in some sort of Charles Dickens cosplay. But yeah, I'd hit that.

  • @chumpchkin Or they could er... well. Make do.

  • yea, I's throw up, too. still, nice attempt.

  • SEe the footlights revue extra on the season 2 DVD. Fry and Emma Thompson play the couple and they are hilarious.

  • lol I wonder what was really on Cefax page 627 that night :-D

  • @prfctday these recipes were on that ceefax page that night, believe it or not

  • this is incredible. ohhhh gads. FRY is so damn funny.. amazing, amazing.

  • i love their hair,

  • Great word play reconstituted from a stock of boiled horses rectum!! and portrays both gentlemens futile attempts to woo the lady(with not much success)over which is best soup or broth!!.Brilliant!.
