I much appreciate these vidios that are instrumental. You see I can't play. So I place my m.p. player on the table; play the vidio and record my verses. save the recordings and have my song backed up by the greats like Ry Cooder. I wish I could thank him personally
we are being talked about by a ry cooder website in germany.....making many of our new customers German. we didn't know about ry cooder, but made it a goal to learn a lot about him since he is the reason for the website that is manned by a person who is helping our business grow. thank you for this video. a slide guitarist we know told us about the cd and now we can preview the music from it before buying it.

Cuando era un chaval escuchaba esta sintonía como intro de un programa de TV en España y me encantaba el minuto escaso que sonaba al principio y al final de cada emisión.
@deRulsZ support my campaign to stop the "F" word being used as an indiscrimanate adjective. I have nothing against swearing. Just against poor use of swearing.
These photos are stunning and fit like a hand to glove to Ry Cooder's plaintive, spare, and haunting music. Don't when I've enjoyed a video this much. I doff my hat to you.
Good job with the compilation of both still photos and the Ry Cooder piece. I have ridden my Harley along these roads in the Southwest, as well as Oklahoma and Texas. Makes me want to get back on the Mother Road again.
A stranger came from the desert. His skin was leather and worn and his clothes were that of dust and wind. He was a redman, a native American, an Indian, I asked him "who are you?", and he replied "I am no one, I am a wanderer, a traveller, a stranger. I come from the wastes, where time has no meaning, because time cannot change a land where nothing is already is. I was born in the wastes, and I will die in the wastes, as if my time was nothing."
Ry Cooder at his best...Its a haunting atmospheric album, really does compliment the movie so well...The Stones wanted him, but he said NO THANKS...So we've been able to enjoy so much more from him over the years...For me Ry Cooder and J.J. Cale epitomises 'Greatness'.
by searching bottleneck i only get delta blues videos, but im looking for slow slide guitar songs like this one (preferably without lyrics) and cant find a single one...
@nosdrva this song is actually a tribute to one of the greatest slide players of all time, Blind Willie Johnson, and this is his version of BWJ's "Dark was the Night", so start there
@nosdrva also check out skip james' "hard time killing floor blues" as well as "cherry ball blues", also rev. gary davis' "death has no mercy in this land" is truly bone chilling
Nice photo montage, but specially amazing pictures man! You got that touch.
I posted a video response with a photo montage that this video inspired me to do, with some of the main things you go through when driving old route 66. I hope you don´t mind, but if you do i´ll delete it as soon as you tell me.
@xEclipzinfernoHD89 I'm no sound engineer but I can hear a marimba and some chimes, and perhaps a bass string being tickled lightly but highly amplified, and it's been processed in the mix somehow. I had a hold of the soundtrack disc at one stage and I think I recall the instruments are all detailed there if you want to track it down.
I was a big fan of Ry and this collage of rout 66 and Monument valley rekindles this, I will never go to the US now but dear God I wished I had!! great stuff Mr Cooder.thought provoking and nice work poster
Wow. Simply stunning. I've loved this movie & soundtrack for well over 25 years and this is the most accurate interpretation of what I see in my head when I listen to the soundtrack. A most oustanding achievement.
Great combination with the pictures. The open space of route 66 goes so well with all the space in Cooder's music. Brilliant.
