So THIS is what this concert is, huh? Kiss Winterland concert 1975. On the back of the first KISSology DVD set, it said "Winterland concert 1975." Unfortunately, I had NO IDEA what that meant-UNTIL NOW! Thanks to YouTube, I, NOW, KNOW! F**k today's Grammys, the American "Music" Awards, Super Bowl halftime "entertainment," and other shows that feature live "entertainment!" In my opinion, '70s KISS levels them ALL!
Ace looks so cool and in his element. His grooving, his Taurus artistic sensibilities. They all look like they are enjoying themselves! Later in the KISS saga we find it has become some corporate thing. But this is the when they were still struggling artists.
what does the guy at 6:42 say? ace was awesome back in the day no one at his age now is as good when you were hungry even eddie vh or clapton are not as good at their ages now as back when thats natural you have a peak at some point aces ability peak was around 1988 or so
WOW. If anyone notices...well 1st off the 1st Van Halen album came out in 77. And Eddie claims that he was the 1st to ever tap on a guitar neck. I'm not trying to take anything away from EVH, he totally changed guitar when there was nothing going on. But clearly ACE is tapping on the neck in his solo!!!
@vonvlad:- eddie never claimed to invent it. "I think I got the idea of tapping watching Jimmy Page do his "Heartbreaker" solo back in 1971. He was doing a pull-off to an open string, and I thought wait a minute, open string ... pull off. I can do that, but what if I use my finger as the nut and move it around?" ... I just kind of took it and ran with it." there's heaps earlier stuff too, just gotta look into it.
WOW...If you notice, even back in 1975 it was all about Gene & Paul...the only reason Ace is in the video at the end is because he was soloing...and it just so happens that Peter's drumset is in the middle of the stage...
@mrspeed41 Bingo. Every band has a front man...or in this case two front men. FOr the record, all of the concert footage from this era features all for members of the band. Otherwise, how would Ace and Peter have the following they have til this very day, and their popularity as icons continues to grow. So, lay off Gene and Paul, all you haters!
Brilliant song: I can imagine they really had balls back then. They probably see themselves more as a commercial product than as a actual rock band, Too bad: their 70's material was great.
Kiss, Hotter Than Hell , Dressed to Kill, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, Love Gun, the Solo Albums, Dynasty, Unmasked, and Music from "The Elder" all came before Creatures.
@emptyandgray Although there were no new songs, except on Alive 2, you could count Alive 1 and 2. And if you were lucky enough, like me ;p, The Originals, which had all 3 of the 1st albums in it, plus stickers, a book, etc. It was an awesome 3 record set/collection. OH, and Double Plantium.
Kiss - 73-77 KICKED ASS ! Kiss, hotter than hell, Dressed to kill, Alive !, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over.
Love gun had bad Production...thin sounding. Dynasty was alright. Creatures was pretty good. Early 70's they were their best though !

For the record, I think Peter is truly a superb drummer. He is old school, in the tradition of Gene Krupa.

in rock history!
It's really sad that the drugs messed up his time!

@batto092 well, however ace at the first tours prefer to be out of lights, and at one side of the drums, he was really shy, well he still is

Their first two albums are the best. First three maybe. They stopped being cool for me after Creatures of the Night.

Yeah, I think "hotter than hell" is their best record, their most hard rock album!
bufralo 2 years ago 2
Creatures was their 10th album.
Kiss, Hotter Than Hell , Dressed to Kill, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, Love Gun, the Solo Albums, Dynasty, Unmasked, and Music from "The Elder" all came before Creatures.

I know that. I'm just saying after Creatures the music changed as well as the image.
