It is true the Australian Government prefers to bring skilled visa holders into Australia rather than make sure Australian companies train Australians so there are plenty of jobs for skilled visa holders. And in some states they will educate your kids for free great hay.
Just remember if you decide to become an Australian citizen you will have to compete with oversea workers for a job!

The year 2012 is around and there will not be any borders anywhere my dear Australians. So you can enjoy your visa treatment for only 3 years ... hehehe ;-)

Hi WX,
There are age caps of 45 years on all visas in the General Skilled Migration Program, however the 457 is a different type of skilled visa that is open to people over the age of 45. Should the applicant wish to proceed to permanent residence through employer sponsorship, that visa also generally requires applicants are under the age of 45 however exceptional circumstances waivers are available.

Many thanks for these info. My wife and I are dying to move and live there permanently. Now to get sponsored with a 457 seem to be quite a mission!
