  • What year did this air?

  • This is what you call an anointing. This isn't learned, nor is it taught. It is pure gift from high above!

  • A Angel is gone from here on earth. Whitney will really be missed here....

  • i met whitney at this show in nashville TN. she came to a Christian/Gospel show and sang with all her might. i met her backstage and she was the most wonderful person. she had her troubles and admitted it. but isn't the TRUE gift of salvation a gift of forgiveness and mercy? i believe that. she gave joy and encouragement to so many through music. and all of those who want to judge...that is NOT your place. judge lest you be judged. forgive and show mercy to a fellow brother or sister in Christ.

  • I have a Holy Spirit moment right here in my living room,Praise Him to the highest,Hllelujah, glory to His holy Name!!!!!!!! RIP my dear sister ,as you are.....you deserve peace and rest,oh yes you do..Thank you for sharing this. For I do go to the Rock of my salvation, yes,I always will.

  • Super-Star, R.I.P....

  • I could watch the first 40 seconds of this over and over as best manual in "spirit raising" by a professional musician I've seen on video. First, as everyday woman enters stage you can see the transformation to angelic messenger take place at :22 as she snaps her head "waking up" to the sublime divinity and then the quintessential Whitney crack in her voice (which YOU can't imitate) on "who do I LEAN on" at :29 , leaving an immense whole from which tears pour out and the Holy Spirit pours in.

  • Its because after you've sung a song a zillion times, you have to change it up just to keep up your own enthusiasm for the melody. For singers, its the creative genius of the vocal chord spontanious arrangement in performance, in an effort to give youself to your audience, although you have had to sing it so many times.

  • all that she's been through she still has a voice nothin but god can do sumthinq like dat

  • AMAZING

  • Why can't Whitney ever sing a song normally the same way she recorded it.

  • @TheFever77 because she is awsome

  • Why would anyone pay to see someone sing something when they can hear the same exact version for free in your home??? Not tryna start anything, dats just my opinion.

  • @Jonterrel20 for the experience dummy,,, duh

  • @Tiffany25ism I can experience boredum in my own home...(shrugs shoulders) im just sayn.lol

  • @TheFever77

'Normal'.. u said it in ur comment; it is normal- who wants normal?! She is a musician u do realize and is doing some great musical things in this performance. Usually people comment questioning why she doesn't sing like she does in her live performances on cd.. it would be far more exciting. Anyway, it just sounded like u were disappointed with her improvisational approach when I think it is entirely appropriate here.

  • @dagll Thank you, I do 'realise' that she's a musician but the singing in this performance is very broken up and patchy, that's all I was trying to say.

  • When troubles come, i definately go to the rock,

Thank you Whitney for inspiring us through out the years.

  • Stunning!!!! Whitney rules!

  • KMAUR i have listened to alot of versions of this and I have to agree with you NOBODY sings it like Whitney! I love it! You sing it to us girl!

  • LOL somebody said she went to the wrong rock..smh..we've all fallen short

  • even tho she was hoarse she still delivered! was she pregnant here?

  • Well, thank God for the Rock! And she has been redeemed!

  • mercy, I just noticed BB bouncing around here-

Witney We love you. God is doing a work and your going to come back RICK,STRONG,and SOON

  • YES GOD IS REAL, Witney please do a complete gospel album. We will cover you girl.

  • Is she holding back!? Listen to Karen Clark Sheard sing this. OMG

  • She was hoarse hear for one, plus she does it in Tapei the best I ever heard anyone do it in 1997. This rendition she was in hoarse voice.

  • 2:39-2:40 those runs are sick!

  • I suggest you listen to Tokyo I Go to Rock, as well as Tapei, Nobody sings this song like Whitney. Karen does sing it extremely well too, but those renditions you will see what I mean especially Tapei! Karen and Whitney can only sing this song right.

  • What year was this filmed?

  • @Lukin4SumthnReal. I believe 1996

  • She Still got the power!! BUT What the Devil....is this commercial!!! American Airlines?

  • They ain't need to put the promotional considerations right at that moment! That was so wrong!

    Love Whitney!!!!! Love, love, love!!!!!

  • bless him whitney

  • She does not smoke crack you misinformed twit. Stop bothering people with your silly sh*t trying to draw attention to yourself. Whitney, live your life woman, your a beautiful child of God.

  • if you could only understand that its(life) truely about God and you not about how other portray him or other peoples action (for which lots are fake) get you a king james bible and learn/believe on him and not other people action/how they life.!!!

  • if you could only understand that god doesn't exist.

  • God is real, im not gonna debate with ya about this bc it seems like you already have you mind made up about this subject (not trying to sound cocky at all)

  • Show me proof, you're a very stubborn person.

  • so if he don't exist why are you listening to gospel music

  • @FrEaK4877 you are certainly hateful, everyone makes bad decisions at one time or another - i'll just bet you were one of those who persecuted MJ as well. People like you is what is wrong with our society

  • @slim22z Hahaha, I do indeed hate religious people. The weakest of our species.

No, I actual believed MJ to be innocent.

  • @FrEaK4877 MJ was innocent. our society made him weird.

  • I love the comments about Whitney not being some note-for-note karaoke vocalist. It's true. Where do people who can't sing get the idea they can comment knowledgeably on real singers? Do you tell your doctor how to perform surgery, or your dentist how to fill your teeth? Real singers have more education than a brain surgeon. Whitney grew up singing and has had the BEST training, all her life. Grab some humility get real.

  • 4:03 POWERFUL

  • I certainly pray she goes to the Rock... God blessed her in an amazing way. Imagine if she used it for Him....

  • i completly agree with you and i think so too. God give her this amazing and powerful talent to lead those people who seeking the best way. And our savior and Lord Jesus is the only way to go to heaven. And i think Whitney are the best person the show it. Welcom back dear sister Share the good news for those who need it and those who lost it. I pray for your career and ministry. welcom back to the father house.

  • Whitney praising God!

  • If only she has recorded a Gospel album in her prime! This Day, In Return, Bridge Over Troubled Water. Don't Cry For Me, I Go To The Rock, Joy To The World, Amazing Grace, He/I Believe, A Quiet Place - nearly all of which she's performed live & a few recorded at different times - but imagine them all on a record with Whitneys best ever voice in her prime all over them! However, her Preachers Wife Gospel CD is the bestselling Gospel album of all time!

  • when do you consider ot be whitney in her prime? I personally feel it was between 1987-91. her voice was pure but the tone was slightly heavier than her earlier work. also, when she sang she seemed to be more sincere. especially on songs suc has all the man that i need and the star spangled banner.

  • She was excited...lol

  • i hate when whitney gets up and talk the words instead of just singing it.

  • her performance of this song on saturday night live and classic whitney concert are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gosh, i wish she would become a christian artist! that's would be amazing! i love her!

  • i love the orignal on her cd!!! but this is great i life her rendition of this song!!!

    COME HOME WHITNEY!!!

  • She's simply amazing! She has a voice like no other. I love this girl.

  • God gives his gives without repentence. She has a gift that God gave her but it doesn't mean that she is working within that gift with his plan for her. But God didn't come to earth to condem. We were already condemed. He came to save us. This is the beauty of love and salvation.

  • love this song so much

  • God bless her for being able to survive through her tribulation. I can't think of how many times I saw Whitney doing this song cracked out of her MIND...but by the grace of God she got to the rock of his love and redemption and thankfully she is still alive and just as beautiful as ever!

  • wow ! yall are HELLA disrespectful !

all have sinned and come short of the glory God ! and who are you to judge this woman of God . yes she might have fallen, but she is getting back up and still had the word of God hidden in her heart !

    How dare you ? !

  • Where is your respect for God!!!!!!!!1 You got to be living a bad life

  • Betcha she'll tear it up if Twinkie Clark was sitting at the organ. The only cracking you'll be feeling is the HOLY GHOST coming down your spine!

  • WOW! Damn this woman, she is too good

  • true27 you're fooling yourself. Whitney is The Voice.

  • This was at the 1998 Dove Awards.

  • Bobby looks like he was high... not on the Holy Spirit but on some white powder x(

  • LMHO!!

  • Comment removed

  • whit was with child.....

  • I love this song, i kno the words off by heart!

  • what happened to this Whitney?? I used to love her soo much

  • GIRL U BETTER SING LOL

  • Whitney Houston is a PROFESSIONAL singer. Not some karaoke singer. She's gonna give her own personal interpretation of the song as PROFESSIONAL SINGERS do. Karaoke singers just sing it note for note and everything.

P.S. And she was probably winded because she WAS pregnant at the time.

  • Rest in peace Dottie. Surely God is saying, "Welcome home, my good and faithful servant."

  • Rest in peace Dottie...I'm sure God is saying, "Welcome home, my good and faithful servant."

  • Powerful.

  • I love this version, but does anyone have AaronGeoffrey's version?

  • I think she made a mess of this song. If she would stop acting silly and just sing, she would do so much better. She doens't need to impress; she has already done that. She seems to try too hard!

  • I GO TO THE ROCK! Where do I go? When there's nobody else to turn to, Who do I talk to? When nobody wants to listen, Who do I lean on? When there is no foundation stable, I go to the rock! I know it's able, I go to the rock. I go to the rock of my salvation, I go to the stone that the builders rejected, I run to the mountain, And the mountain, it stands by me
  • thanx for the lyrics!

  • I love how whitney broke it down in the end. Go whitney!lol

  • You don't know what this woman does. Everyone loses their way. Don't judge, it's not your place.

  • "Thou shalt not judge" "Judge lest though be judged". Whitney is saved. Are you?

  • You are judging saying she is saved arent you? You should quote the last part of that verse. When you are going to the rock you dont have to go the the drugs and you dont have to go the the alcohol. True I dont know her relationship with God but you can judge a tree by the fruit it bears.

  • sometimes you just lose it, you don't mean to but it happens.

  • That is true, God is very forgiving thankfully. He has the final say on judgement day. She does do a good job on the song.

  • Whitney is annointed. You might be right about her, but its still not our place to judge her, for all have sinned and fall short of Gods glory.

  • God forgives and forgets our sins. Who are we to judge others?

  • i was at that Dove Awards, It was amazing, I would give anything to back and relive that, it was amazing, Whitney Houston, Cece Winans and Shirley Caeser on stage together. Wow! What a true Blessing! Loved it

  • What year was this?? She is AMAZING!!

  • I think 1998!

  • I love this song. I love gospel,it cheers me up

  • Represent Georgia Mass !!!!!!!!I love it :)!!

  • Did you know that a little Cherokee indian lady named Dottie Rambo wrote this song? She does great lyrics.

    Alex

  • That little Cherokee lady has written some of the most beloved songs in the gospel genre. She is a living legend.

  • the end was the best part

  • Diva! she does it amazin and effotlessly at the same time. year was this?

  • The greatest singer of all time, Miss Whitney Houston!

  • I love the break down at the end!!!!

  • 1st of all I must say that, I love your screen name! Secondly that break down sure is funky. Lastly did you hear the power in Whitney's voice when she belted out "I GO TO THE ROOCCK" just before the break down. All I can say is, WOW!
