  • Never heared hush sung like this before and was suprised to find that i enjoyed it !Just goes to show there is more than one way to sing a good song .I sing accapella and treat this song as a Lullaby.I sing it how i feel it .and my version has often described as haunting. Is that a compliment?anyway i appreciated your version

  • @insanelyrandom

thank you. I play it as a lullabye also. i do it a few different ways. I think it must be my punk influence that makes me thrash some slow songs out.

For someone to comment on a song being haunting is a very good compliment because you know you have played it the way it should really be played.

  • A lovely song, but it's not traditional. It was written by Jim MacLean in 1968

  • yeah I found this out last year sometime. But it could still be counted as a modern day tradtional, lol

    cheers

  • the chords are

    Am G Am C G Am G Am.

    continously all the way through.

the lyrics are in my head. I thought I had them somewhere on the computer but doesnt look like it.

  • where can i find these lyrics and chords?

  • good job!

  • Anyone know the Maddi Prior/Tulipan version and could you link us or post?

  • I don't know if the Maddy Prior version is on youtube. But I DO know I just ordered it off of Amazon the other day. Her version (on bib and tuck) is SOOO...powerful.

  • My Mum used to sing this to me as a lullaby when I was little. She passed away last year.

Thanks for posting this, it means alot to me.

  • i was at a funera today n the guy that died was in a band..the rest of the band sung this song during the ceremony..it was beautiful..but it just reminded me of when he sung it to me as a baby to get me to sleep at folk festivals.. =] lol

it's a lovely song though. I cant find the music anywhere..the only other video on this i could find, the guy was reading the lyrics as he was recording it..or at least it looked that way..lol so yeah, thanks =]

  • GREAT!

  • Very Good Tone, upyerkilt. I practice fiddle and right now I work on my technique but the celtic style is what I want to learn to play. I could hear all the ear-marks of the highland spoken accents in my mind as I read some of the posts. They are a crisp clear voice. I enjoy the music from the country my folks ar from.

  • Is this supposed to be a lullaby? Nae sleep in your hoose!!

  • Nope, but then maybe yes, it can be done as a lullabye or a heavier version than I do. But no matter what way I play r sing it, there will still be nae fecking dlseep in ma hoose, no while still got 5 guitars, 2 bodhrans,a uke, a mandolin, a banjolin, 2 violins, a jews harp, tin whistle, kazzoo, two african drums, an electric bass guitar, keyboard and a mouth oran or three.:)

  • Aye, fair enough! Hush hush time to be sleeping usually also means it's time for a bit of lively music and debauchery....and if you can play all those at once, you're a better man than me!

  • man this song blew my life.. honestly. heal to dick gaughan I couldnt find the original song though. the people who likes this song should also listen " No Gods & Precious Few Heroes" from dick gaughan.

  • thanks fermer, I will give that song a listen to, i have never heard of it though, but I like to hear new songs. cheers

  • fantastic scottish tune. very sad song I think, good work!!!!

  • yes but I bet you dont, since it is called blue ribban

  • do you know the scottish blue ribbon song! lol
