Good luck and maybe until a few years in worldwide classical music land! :D

@persona221 nein, tut er nicht. Er dirigiert etwas voraus, und wenn ers abschauen würde, wäre er entweder genau mit dem Orchester, oder sogar etwas danach.
I can't help but think how good he would be at ASL for the deaf, signing away...he's got perfectly timed expressions, for each emotion!!! and SO LIMBER (that always helps...lol!)
Lorin Maazel was a conducting prodigy also. Took his first lessons at 7, made his debut at 8, and conducted the NBC Radio Symphony on the air at 11. (Also a violinsit.) Jonathan is a few years ahead of Maazel I think. Serious genius that should be nourished seriously. Thank you for posting.
Kids learn anything you teach them. Jonathan is fortunate to have parents who show him fine music such as Brahms. When I was a kid I had an older bother who liked classical music and another who liked progressive rock and other fine contemporary music, and I liked both a lot when I was as small as Jonathan.
My son was in love with Mozart's Don Giovanni at the age of 4.He was as passionate with that piece as Jonathan with Brahms or Beethoven. The awesome influence of music can be seen on him now at the age of 20, he writes lyrics, performs hip-hop and still a fan of classical music. Even if Jonathan looses his passion towards classical music it will do him good in the future as it contributes to his basic skills of logic, creativity and sensitivity. God bless you all who let him enjoy what he does.
Incredible. He is so serious and involved and he obviously knows the whole thing by heart and anticipates the music. Really the best thing are his facial expressions, so cute. He is still a kid but the musical genius inside him is well beyond his age.

this is so magic, the way that kid expresses the music throughout body movements. You could ask an adult to do that and he/she might not be able to do it. That kid is going to be a musician for sure!
Keep him with the violin too. Many musicians will tell you that string players have more expressive conducting hands, so allow him to master the violin, and introduce him to knowledge of all the other instruments--conducting is obviously natural for him.
I'd rather watch young Jonathon than eat! He is a sheer delight for an old mans eyes!
To the person who wondered if he is watching some kind of video, I don't think so, because in some of the others he is looking all over the place and in yet another he watches his shadow on the wall to his left. Nope. I think he is probably looking at himself in the mirror in this particular video.
I hope his parents will continue to post his conducting and playing. It will be great fun to follow his career
think it might be on some sort of video. Whatever...you can tell he's got rhythm and loves doing this. This is the second video I've watched of his. Have to tell you that's he's a blast to watch.
i wonder what his watching while doing this.. but whatever it is, he is clearly knows the song.. awesome.. at first i thought he didn't actually like doing this, but then i see him smiling and getting fired up in some part.. he loved doing it..
You've got a little genius on your hands. He's amazingly music savvy and he'd bring down the house if he conducted a live orchestra! I'd love to see him doing that one day. Someone get this kid on Good Morning America he's superb! He's not just waving a stick and I love his adorable expressions you can tell he really loves it.
To baby's mother: Your son is a musical miracle! I love music and study it, and I think this little boy shall become a great musician! Congratulations!
@JdeppHatter17 Im in an orchestra and do a litlle conducting myself and this kid does not have the correct motions for conducting, he is just having some fun...
@slikfang Just look at the conductors who are famous on youtube and see that although their eye /hand coordination is better since they are adults, this boy has innate sensitivity for such a young age and his motions are very intuitive to what is happening in the music. Also, there is a point in professional conducting when the intuitive tales over the rule driven approach.

He's not following the music - he's *leading* it...really conducting. It's astounding.

o, I thaught he was in front of an orchestra!!!, Actually I can't see and I asked my grandmother and she said that he was maybe at home, but what I loved is the fact that he is using his abillitties and he is feeling the music as if he had an orchestra in front of him, LOVELY!, this IS a prodigy!
@lallanzinho Jonathan chose the violin after seeing his first orchestra on PBS at 19 months old. Never in a million years did I think our son would play the violin, nor that I would have to learn to read music and teach him.
You should really find the best teacher you can for him. He has a passion for it, and that will carry him really far. At this age, it is really important.

Wonderful expressions for the music. We tend to underestimate 3 year olds, but fortunately J's parents recognize his capacity. Thank you again for sharing!!
You must be very proud for this incredibly cute and talented kid!!!!!!! I only hope, or raather, i implore you to let him grow up as a normal child!... His energy and passion for classical music is trully inspiring! P.S. Your little girl is also adorable!!!!!
@nycsym i agree with everyone here. I am a trained musician and this kid is fantastic! Of course he has no "real baton" technique, he is three!! The fact that a 3 year old is capable of enjoy and actually moving and feeling the beats and the energy of the piece is amazing!
To the parents/guardians of this kid - thank you for introducing him to such fantastic music and letting his own creative mind run wild! He is awesome!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ok, friends, let's get a grip here. He has no real baton technique and there are zillions of folks who do this in front of their CD players. He looks bored at times too, not unlike some professional conductors who I've worked with.
@nycsym wow dude what did you smoke can you see clearly that who you're watching is a kid and maybe someday you'll see him in a stage as a successful conductor
Just saw Hershey Felder at the Geffen Theatre in LA play "Leonard Bernstein" (he becomes him)--and the whole thing is a lesson in what it takes to be a famous conductor. This kid definitely has it! Amazing!
Absolutely fantastic this kid!! He must be extremely musically talented, knowing every single tone and entry, and beating the time so precisely with his little baton!! And loving it!!! :D
He knows what he's doing. I'm amazed that a 3 year old can connect the sounds of music and express them in conducting movements; most kids would just wave the stick around with no sense of rhythm, much less dynamics, instruments, beats, everything! He's going to be very famous in the future.
is that a real conducting baton

Wonderful expressions for the music. We tend to underestimate 3 year olds, but fortunately J's parents recognize his capacity. Thank you again for sharing!!

The world should see this argument against abortion! His mother chose life and Jonathan was born. Thank God. Jonathan, try Shostakovich music.

Definitely much better than Dudamel! This kid is in the class of Nikisch, Furtwangler, Karajan and Toscanini. Bravo mein süßer kleiner dirigent!

Ok, friends, let's get a grip here. He has no real baton technique and there are zillions of folks who do this in front of their CD players. He looks bored at times too, not unlike some professional conductors who I've worked with.

@nycsym Who said he was a professional?

Just saw Hershey Felder at the Geffen Theatre in LA play "Leonard Bernstein" (he becomes him)--and the whole thing is a lesson in what it takes to be a famous conductor. This kid definitely has it! Amazing!

Absolutely fantastic this kid!! He must be extremely musically talented, knowing every single tone and entry, and beating the time so precisely with his little baton!! And loving it!!! :D

Beautiful. More kids like this and the future of our planet would be brighter. Make music not war.

He is actually pretty accurate with his counting!
McJasper9999 1 year ago
He knows what he's doing. I'm amazed that a 3 year old can connect the sounds of music and express them in conducting movements; most kids would just wave the stick around with no sense of rhythm, much less dynamics, instruments, beats, everything! He's going to be very famous in the future.
