  • is that a real conducting baton

  • Unbelievable ..... beyond words ....

  • When God is giving ......

  • I'd say it's too early to call him a enius people, three year olds aren't geniuses because they know a piece of music, his music taste will probably also evolve and be influenced by others. Hopefully for the heavier matter ;)

  • To be young again, when all gates were open.

  • He should try Mahler and/or Bruckner.Messiaen maybe?

  • If he hasn't been yet, please introduce him to Gustav Mahler's music! He must love that one as he loves Beethoven very much. The kid is amazing, I'm stunned. Mahler's 1st symphony would do him very good :D. Or Shostakovich, I really would love to see him conduct Shostakovich :D

Good luck and maybe until a few years in worldwide classical music land! :D

  • Not just waving around with his arms^^… how can one manage this at this age?

  • Try as hard as you want, you will never be as awesome as this kid. =]

  • Omygoodness this kid is amazing. I want to be conducted by him

  • Bravo maestro!!!!

  • He is like Lorin Maazel as a kid.

  • OMG he is amazing

  • are you kidding? it's just a child waving a stick for three minutes :D

  • put him in front of an orchestra.

  • @ikertznus They already have. See his 7th and 8th videos.

  • HAHA i love it! when i clicked on this vid i thought it would be just random flailing arms. totally not! great job kiddo

  • The little boy is a born expert! Immediately the best music education! He feels music with every cell of his body and is looking forward incredible, he lived the music and knows their meaning. BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO!

  • I hope someone fosters this child's natural gift...that was incredible!!!

  • This little one is a GENIUS ! MUSIC INCARNATED...God Bless you all !

  • So Bernstein has returned? :)

  • I wach this video again and again, but I still cannot believe it

  • I love the gesture he does at 1:31 ! Absolutely relevant !

  • Bravo Jonathan, thank you, I'm sure I'll see you soon from huge stage.

    Thanks for sharing...

  • Incredible! What a talent! What a joy to watch him. Is it your son? I am a musician myself and I am stunned, how well he remembers the pieces of music! He has a great future ahead! I am sure you will make sure, that he stays with both feet on the ground. That will be a challenge. Wishing you all the best! And looking forward to watching the little fella in the future too. Thanks for the post!

  • at first I thought this was a joke.... but wow this kid really conducts an orchestra !

  • If I'm his dad, the birthday present would be baton already.... May God bless and uses him. He has great musicality!

  • Fera.

  • I can't help but think how good he would be at ASL for the deaf, signing away...he's got perfectly timed expressions, for each emotion!!! and SO LIMBER (that always helps...lol!)

  • Karajan would be proud of seing his version conducted like this!!!

  • I like the way he conducts violas at 00:53

  • toll, der neue Karajan?

  • Talent stares at me in a way I cannot miss it - and Lil Jonny is soo cute! And as I said, talented...

    And cute!

  • now all he has to do is learn how to count to 4 and he'll be just as good of a conductor as anyone else!

  • I love how he gets his game face on! LOL!!

This is soo cute, and fun!

  • WONDERFULLLL!!!

  • Genius!

  • oh my.....he is such a cute boy. i love the intensity & dedication he is showing - with 3 years of age. keep on little man.

  • Lorin Maazel was a conducting prodigy also. Took his first lessons at 7, made his debut at 8, and conducted the NBC Radio Symphony on the air at 11. (Also a violinsit.) Jonathan is a few years ahead of Maazel I think. Serious genius that should be nourished seriously. Thank you for posting.

  • Kids learn anything you teach them. Jonathan is fortunate to have parents who show him fine music such as Brahms. When I was a kid I had an older bother who liked classical music and another who liked progressive rock and other fine contemporary music, and I liked both a lot when I was as small as Jonathan.

  • Can you say prodigy?

  • Hopefully he goes fully into classical music and not the popular trash you can hear everywhere.

  • incroyable!!

  • You need to show him Stravinsky :)

  • @dzabageo Check out his 7th video

  • @brunir718

    I stand corrected.

  • My son was in love with Mozart's Don Giovanni at the age of 4.He was as passionate with that piece as Jonathan with Brahms or Beethoven. The awesome influence of music can be seen on him now at the age of 20, he writes lyrics, performs hip-hop and still a fan of classical music. Even if Jonathan looses his passion towards classical music it will do him good in the future as it contributes to his basic skills of logic, creativity and sensitivity. God bless you all who let him enjoy what he does.

  • The funny thing is conductors get paid to do the exact same job. He does it for free.

  • Großartig !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC.................canal KOMENTERO

  • Awww he's so cute! With a start at music like this I'm sure he will excel at life!

  • My kids better like Brahms!!!!!

  • The kid is really into it. You can tell that he is very serious at his work. Awesome kid.

  • Incredible. He is so serious and involved and he obviously knows the whole thing by heart and anticipates the music. Really the best thing are his facial expressions, so cute. He is still a kid but the musical genius inside him is well beyond his age.

  • Who is his conducting idol? According to his mature movements I am sure he often watches great conductors closely.. I am guessing Carlos Cleiber ;)

  • woooow...!! fantastic!!!

  • Comment savez vous qu'il fait justee Ohh ?

  • remarkable, it's still very rough but this kid has talent.

  • 1.28 is impressive!!!

  • get this boy in front of you local orchestra ! NOW!

  • @pupupart Look at his 7th video.

  • He's easier to follow, and more expressive than many professional conductors!

  • sweet =)

  • wow amazing

  • He's not conducting TO these pieces, he's CONDUCTING them. Incredible.

I really hope he retains the same mannerisms as he matures. :D

  • amazing!!!!!!

I wish you all the best

  • I am AMAZED!!!

  • this is so magic, the way that kid expresses the music throughout body movements. You could ask an adult to do that and he/she might not be able to do it. That kid is going to be a musician for sure!

  • Awesome :), but to me conducting looks random, maybe it is because I don't really understand music in that way :)

  • Keep him with the violin too. Many musicians will tell you that string players have more expressive conducting hands, so allow him to master the violin, and introduce him to knowledge of all the other instruments--conducting is obviously natural for him.

  • This is too wonderful, but the video keeps stopping and starting. Is this because so many people are watching at the same time?

  • I'd rather watch young Jonathon than eat! He is a sheer delight for an old mans eyes!

To the person who wondered if he is watching some kind of video, I don't think so, because in some of the others he is looking all over the place and in yet another he watches his shadow on the wall to his left. Nope. I think he is probably looking at himself in the mirror in this particular video.

I hope his parents will continue to post his conducting and playing. It will be great fun to follow his career

  • Is he watching a video of a conductor on the TV? He looks like he is trying to copy what he is seeing. So cute!

  • I'm 19 and a conducting music major and I must say YOUR CHILD WILL BE A MASTER OF THE ARTS!! (bows down ) I AM NOT WORTHY!!!!

  • Try "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky for his baton skills -- a favorite of mine.

  • think it might be on some sort of video. Whatever...you can tell he's got rhythm and loves doing this. This is the second video I've watched of his. Have to tell you that's he's a blast to watch.

  • i wonder what his watching while doing this.. but whatever it is, he is clearly knows the song.. awesome.. at first i thought he didn't actually like doing this, but then i see him smiling and getting fired up in some part.. he loved doing it..

  • wow i love this boy! he's so adorable and full of enthusiasm :D

  • awesome kid!

  • did the boy watch a concert in TV while conducting ? If not , I am speechless. Great fun anyway!

  • He doesn't just like Brahms and Beethoven, he KNOWS the music.....

  • Pure joy swells in my heart as I watch Jonathan. What a mystery is God's creation.

  • he's wonderful! He makes me smile!

  • com direito a cabelinho chupadinho!!!ausuahahuhas!!

  • You've got a little genius on your hands. He's amazingly music savvy and he'd bring down the house if he conducted a live orchestra! I'd love to see him doing that one day. Someone get this kid on Good Morning America he's superb! He's not just waving a stick and I love his adorable expressions you can tell he really loves it.

We love you Jonathan, erm Maestro Jonathan!

  • I am so excited for him! Best of luck :)

  • Disregard all the haters. I'm teaching my grandson an appreciation for classical music everyday (he's 15 months):)

  • His passion is burning like a blue flame! If he has the dedication for conducting he will become a prodigy.

  • I love his face expressions they are awesome, hahaha! What a cool kid!

  • To baby's mother: Your son is a musical miracle! I love music and study it, and I think this little boy shall become a great musician! Congratulations!

    (Wishes from Palermo, Sicily, Italy)

  • @JdeppHatter17 Im in an orchestra and do a litlle conducting myself and this kid does not have the correct motions for conducting, he is just having some fun...

  • @slikfang I doubt you were doing this at 3 years old, so imagine the conductor he can become when he is your age

  • @slikfang Just look at the conductors who are famous on youtube and see that although their eye /hand coordination is better since they are adults, this boy has innate sensitivity for such a young age and his motions are very intuitive to what is happening in the music. Also, there is a point in professional conducting when the intuitive tales over the rule driven approach.

  • This kid is not normal!!!! He likes Brahms, classical music all the things that other kids will find boring... HES THE COOLEST KID ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey kid..... i think you are AMAZING!!!! :D

  • adorable! he made my day~ =D

  • Where does he learn this conducting? Does he watch videos of conductors and imitate them?

  • Mozart of the 21st Century

  • @slikfang With respect, watch again, perferably with a conductor score. you'll be amazed as my fellow conductors have been. your, Maestro James, Academy of Music.

  • @slikfang Sorrry, beg to differ. He's got all the subdivisions of the music down in his motions. He also knows when to cue individual sections on Divisi parts.

  • @slikfang Have you ever seen a live orchestra w/conductor? not meant to sound mean or anything, I'm just curious because ones I have been to the conductor conducts with much similiar movements, gestures and extreme energy and they are grown men

  • @slikfang You need to check out some famous conductors and see that this boy has some of the same motions as they. Essa Pekka Salonen is a good example. Check out Pictures at an Exhibition "Baba Yaga" and you will see. This well known conductor definitely expresses and does not hold to the rules as rigidly.

  • How cute!!

  • look at his face, the expressions,,,he feels the music...wow! ...knows every beat, highs and lows.....god bless him,...he was born to be a musician,,a natural talent.

  • omg jonathan is amazing this issss awesome i have to see him live one day...

  • This is amazing. We just watched most of your videos and were moved to tears. My partner was an opera singer who sang at Curtis Institute and says Jonathan is a better conductor than many of the conducing students at Curtis. He's not following the music - he's *leading* it...really conducting. It's astounding.

Thank you for sharing. Take care of that amazing boy.

  • Is he from a family of musicians?

  • o, I thaught he was in front of an orchestra!!!, Actually I can't see and I asked my grandmother and she said that he was maybe at home, but what I loved is the fact that he is using his abillitties and he is feeling the music as if he had an orchestra in front of him, LOVELY!, this IS a prodigy!

  • good job kid

  • Just for kicks, a professional orchestra should just bring him in for a rehearsal. I would LOVE to witness it.

  • I wish my future children would love music like him!! Hope parents are so proud of him :).

  • it's real?? wtf this boy is 3 year old

  • wtf?? what is that??

  • ooooh! cuuuuuuute :)

  • hes so adolable!

    cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :D

  • WOW!

  • Incredible........!

  • Oh my god. A three years old kid who likes Brahms. That's awsome.

Hope to see more of him!

    A question "Why violin?"

  • @lallanzinho Jonathan chose the violin after seeing his first orchestra on PBS at 19 months old. Never in a million years did I think our son would play the violin, nor that I would have to learn to read music and teach him.

  • @esenuk Out of curiosity, have you looked into Juilliard's Pre-College Program?

  • @esenuk YOU are to be applauded for encouraging and nurturing such a gift! May he and you continue to experience the joy such music brings.

  • @esenuk

You should really find the best teacher you can for him. He has a passion for it, and that will carry him really far. At this age, it is really important.

  • @esenuk well.. GOD bless you!

  • To Jonathan's parents: keep fueling his love and passion. Regardless of his choice of vocation, it's clear that music is integral to his being and soul. It's lovely that his joy and enthusiasm can give so much pleasure and inspiration to others through these videos. P.S. How's his singing? Find him a boychoir, too!

  • @sarikfan agreed!!

  • Surprised more people don't comment on this video too. It's not as amazing as the 4th of the 5th, but still so good.

  • I just saw this on Inside Edition

  • I really like 1:30 when repeat the exposition. His reaction is so fast and accurate!

  • Wonderful expressions for the music. We tend to underestimate 3 year olds, but fortunately J's parents recognize his capacity. Thank you again for sharing!!

  • Definitely much better than Dudamel! This kid is in the class of Nikisch, Furtwangler, Karajan and Toscanini. Bravo mein süßer kleiner dirigent!

  • I'm going to need to look this kid up in a decade or so. maybe he will be a conductor of his own orchestra by then

  • You must be very proud for this incredibly cute and talented kid!!!!!!! I only hope, or raather, i implore you to let him grow up as a normal child!... His energy and passion for classical music is trully inspiring! P.S. Your little girl is also adorable!!!!!

  • Fanny small genius!!!

  • I love his kid-sized podium and baton!

  • amazing!

  • @nycsym Who said he was a professional?

  • @nycsym wow dude what did you smoke can you see clearly that who you're watching is a kid and maybe someday you'll see him in a stage as a successful conductor

  • @nycsym He's three, give him a break. Derp.

What were YOU doing when you were three?

  • @nycsym Your comment is suppose to be a joke, right?

  • @nycsym Are you serious?!?!?!!?!? He is 3 years old for crying out loud!!!!!

  • That's what i can a army of darkness. Future brain in the making.

  • Just saw Hershey Felder at the Geffen Theatre in LA play "Leonard Bernstein" (he becomes him)--and the whole thing is a lesson in what it takes to be a famous conductor. This kid definitely has it! Amazing!

  • Absolutely fantastic this kid!! He must be extremely musically talented, knowing every single tone and entry, and beating the time so precisely with his little baton!! And loving it!!! :D

  • love his serious face in the beginning.

  • Beautiful. More kids like this and the future of our planet would be brighter. Make music not war.

  • He is actually pretty accurate with his counting!

  • He knows what he's doing. I'm amazed that a 3 year old can connect the sounds of music and express them in conducting movements; most kids would just wave the stick around with no sense of rhythm, much less dynamics, instruments, beats, everything! He's going to be very famous in the future.

  • so, much, feeling! i can practically feel the power of his passion!

  • It is like watching Gustavo Dudamel as a kid.

  • @jsingh108 What a pity that Dudamel sucks.

  • @jsingh108 My exact thoughts as well.

  • Hi is Arturo Toscanini Reincarnationed.
