Nice. Is it worth trying to get the field effect all the way to opposite of the boss' innate? I can see it helps, but I noticed you never do it intentonally. Is it really not worth it?

It's too difficult to do that without the boss interrupting the field with something else. I just got really really lucky here.

If only there were a way of changing the entire field effect at once...

One thing I liked about the Tech system in Chrono Trigger is that while sometimes, yes, Dual Techs and Triple Techs were outclassed by Single Techs, other times this was not the case. You were encouraged to play around in boss battles to determined what worked best, and I liked that.

Isn´t Strengthen affected by the spot in the element grid you place it in? I know Eagle Eye isn´t but I always thought Strengthen and the other buffer elements were....

WOW that X Strike did a butt load of damage! Well goes to show you how the field being all one color can really help out a lot. Not only that X strike is awesome. Always been one of my favorite techs in this game and Chrono Trigger.

A demonstration of how broken X-Strike can be.

There's a blue boss later in the game, that you can seriously one-shot with X-strike.

Not even on a New Game+ either. Just normally.

HC's right in saying Duel and triple Tech's really aren't all THAT useful in this game. But X-Strike can be quite the over-kill if applied correctly. Only Duel tech worth using IMO.

I played through this area yesterday and found out something interesting: None of those fights are required.

If you run away from all three of those fights, you can skip all of them. The pirates and Polly just make a few comments about how you're a wimp, and you get put to sleep, and the plot progresses as if you had completed the fights.

That's only on the Save Kid path. The game allows you to skip those fights, since they don't give you star levels on that path, as they were picked up at the Hydra Marshes. In the end, both paths should be at Level 10.
