  • This song makes me cry :)

  • One of my favorite Christmas songs.

  • Yes - Marvin put his whole soul in this song - one thing I really like about him - makes you feel something - really miss him.

  • This song is why Marvin Gaye was special.

  • In remembrance of my little sister, Heather Luna. It's Christmas time again and I miss you more than ever. What I wouldn't give to spend the holiday with you. R.I.P. babe. I will love you always, but the Lord loved you more.

  • ...I want to see my brother again more than anything else. I hear this song and I think of you Angel Baby. Wish you could see Santa Clause & Snow flakes fall & hear Jingle bells. Thank you Marvin in Heaven for this beautiful touching Song.

  • I want japanese chicks, but I can't promise my eyes this sight because I wasn't born white. But I'm a prisoner of the Black race, living here in my cell, the white man and his japanese women have given me nothing but hell.

  • Hey know you understand the genius of the Trouble man , I saw a video where he was just laying around the studio on a couch and just started recording just instantaneous , amazing how "Whats Going on " Lp is so relevant today, almost 40 yrs. later, Marvin was ahead of his time.

  • The most evocative musician ever.

  • the best miss him so much

  • OMG awesome song. I can feel his spirit in this song. I miss Marvin.

  • OMG what a beautiful song that I ended up hearing for the first time this year. My God Marvin Gaye was a treasure to have in this world. His voice and the words of this song really touches my heart.

  • OMG A True Master!

  • DOPE! you gotta love Marvin

  • Was this supposed to be on " What's Going On ?" It seems like it would fit with God Is Love.

  • THE ONE PERSON WHO DISLIKES THIS SONG IS CLEARLY A TROLL

  • @yobba949 Yes Yobba, a straight up troll!!! LOL!!! how could anybody not dig on this classic by the incomparable King Of R&B...Mr. Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr....this song brings tears to my eyes.

  • @manwomanboogie Indeed! Sensational Christmas song from the Master himself. Brings tears to my eyes, too.

  • This is one of the most incredible, unnoticed songs from any artist, let alone the legendary Marvin Gaye. It has become one of my favorite Christmas songs. He tells you he is "a prisoner of war, lying here in my cell, hoping my family is well". WOW!!! This song takes me back to the Vietnam War and all the young men from my community who left and never returned. This masterpiece captures that era so well that it chilled me the first time I heard it. Marvin was a genius. Thanks for posting!!!

  • I'll bet that's James Jamerson on bass.

  • This is a very tough and soulful Christmas Groove!

  • Never heard this one before OMG it's so nice. Can't wait to see my wife, merry xmas to all.

  • My fave Christmas song. Good all year round :)

  • OMG!...I love Marvin so much!!!. Such an Angelic voice! So many years have passed and he still remains the absolute best vocalist ever!!!!... I mean that! . Love you Marvin...still love you bro...and I'm a white, straight guy.( For any of you fools who might become confused.) God bless. Hope to see you in the day soon.

  • yes this what it is!

  • I would love to listen to this song but have not been able to access it. Can someone download it again.

    Thanks,

  • What a wonderful and powerful song, its especially sad with so many of our troops serving in two wars, and its very emotional, it really brings a person to tears, what a genius Marvin Gaye was and even after all these years its a HUGE loss, thankfully we have his wonderful music

  • Incredible! How did he manage to make it still relevant today???

Because this country is systematically addicted to war and it's Military Industrial Complex that's why!

Unbecoming circumstances make for the most dynamic music and prose. Thanks for posting.

  • BEAUTIFUL.

I love Marvin's voice on ANYTHING...and well said by some, that Marvin manages to make this Xmas song come off as romantic

    A pure genius

  • make you want to roast some chestnuts wid' yo' baby.

  • There is no way you can listen to this and not feel Christmas. One of the best R&B Christmas songs ever! He is so very soulful.

  • A Very Merry Christmas to you Marvin up there in heaven! xx

  • I first heard this song last year, was missing my Mom and not in the holiday spirit It broke a brother down, All I can say is Marvin, Marvin what a voice.

  • @soul2sol well said. happy christmas from London :-)

  • Heard this song last year missing my mother this F&^%% song broke me down like a Mutha .It's so hard to listen to it, MARVIN, MARVIN what a voice.

  • Ok, where's the one dummy who clicked dislike. I feel the need to give a Christmas slap

  • @msbernie1970 that would be the deaf one (no offense to the hearing-impared!!!)

  • The only reason he died early was so he can sing in heaven. He is the greatest singer ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lindo...

    Que voz maravilhosa !!!

  • SPECIAL!!

  • He is not a prophet, he just spoke truth to power. He was referring to the Vietnam War, although the song is still relevant than ever today simply because it reaches yet another generation.

  • Awesome

  • I can only imagine how this sounded live. Marvin Gay was a true artist and prophet so soulful and so real, but a troubled man with many demons may he rest in peace.

  • One of my favorites!

  • I Listen to this song all year...makes me cry everytime

  • me toooo it so depressing especially with us at war

  • the soul of this man is amazin'damn,i cry every time i hear this song

  • Marvin was such a prophet it's chilling. People are now at war and are unable to come home for Christmas. He and Forrest Harrison wrote a great song.

  • wow i love it. its my first time hearing this just wow

  • what a touching song....almost brings a tear 2 your eyes. we all have family issues and this hits the heart. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Here's wishing we all get home for Christmas, or at least home in the heart with the one you love :)

  • can anyone tell me where i can find an instumental of this song? please?

  • Marvin Gaye's finest!

  • This song makes me cry, sometimes.

  • Wonderful Song!!Thanks..

  • My favourite Xmas song...along with Sinatra Have Urself a Merry Xmas & Chris Rea - Driving Home 4 Xmas...Oh the memories

  • wow did u really work with him?!?! that must've benn incredible. what did u guys work on?

  • merry Christmas. this is what i think is the best song he ever did. it has so much feeling. when he sings that I'm lying here in my cell hoping my family is well that makes me cry.

  • my fav.

  • Wonderful

  • Love this song but it's kinda sad this year my heart is overseas in Qatar until next year :( sniff sniff

  • a must have for your christmas parties. hey if your family gonna drive u crazy, and you know the will, you might as well pour a drink and blast this timeless marvin cut. :) :)

on the low...this is a sad song. but i like the jingle bells :)

  • Very soulful. I hadn't heard any Mavin Christmas songs before this one...i like it.

  • I love this song as it's a throwback to his '60s sound. It's amazing though even when Marvin did Christmas songs it sounded romantic :D

  • @SPTO I disagree. Vocally, this is more 70's style Marvin...which I think is much better.
