In remembrance of my little sister, Heather Luna. It's Christmas time again and I miss you more than ever. What I wouldn't give to spend the holiday with you. R.I.P. babe. I will love you always, but the Lord loved you more.
...I want to see my brother again more than anything else. I hear this song and I think of you Angel Baby. Wish you could see Santa Clause & Snow flakes fall & hear Jingle bells. Thank you Marvin in Heaven for this beautiful touching Song.
I want japanese chicks, but I can't promise my eyes this sight because I wasn't born white. But I'm a prisoner of the Black race, living here in my cell, the white man and his japanese women have given me nothing but hell.
Hey know you understand the genius of the Trouble man , I saw a video where he was just laying around the studio on a couch and just started recording just instantaneous , amazing how "Whats Going on " Lp is so relevant today, almost 40 yrs. later, Marvin was ahead of his time.
OMG what a beautiful song that I ended up hearing for the first time this year. My God Marvin Gaye was a treasure to have in this world. His voice and the words of this song really touches my heart.
@yobba949 Yes Yobba, a straight up troll!!! LOL!!! how could anybody not dig on this classic by the incomparable King Of R&B...Mr. Marvin Pentz Gaye Jr....this song brings tears to my eyes.
This is one of the most incredible, unnoticed songs from any artist, let alone the legendary Marvin Gaye. It has become one of my favorite Christmas songs. He tells you he is "a prisoner of war, lying here in my cell, hoping my family is well". WOW!!! This song takes me back to the Vietnam War and all the young men from my community who left and never returned. This masterpiece captures that era so well that it chilled me the first time I heard it. Marvin was a genius. Thanks for posting!!!
OMG!...I love Marvin so much!!!. Such an Angelic voice! So many years have passed and he still remains the absolute best vocalist ever!!!!... I mean that! . Love you Marvin...still love you bro...and I'm a white, straight guy.( For any of you fools who might become confused.) God bless. Hope to see you in the day soon.
What a wonderful and powerful song, its especially sad with so many of our troops serving in two wars, and its very emotional, it really brings a person to tears, what a genius Marvin Gaye was and even after all these years its a HUGE loss, thankfully we have his wonderful music
I first heard this song last year, was missing my Mom and not in the holiday spirit It broke a brother down, All I can say is Marvin, Marvin what a voice.
He is not a prophet, he just spoke truth to power. He was referring to the Vietnam War, although the song is still relevant than ever today simply because it reaches yet another generation.
I can only imagine how this sounded live. Marvin Gay was a true artist and prophet so soulful and so real, but a troubled man with many demons may he rest in peace.
what a touching song....almost brings a tear 2 your eyes. we all have family issues and this hits the heart. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Here's wishing we all get home for Christmas, or at least home in the heart with the one you love :)
merry Christmas. this is what i think is the best song he ever did. it has so much feeling. when he sings that I'm lying here in my cell hoping my family is well that makes me cry.
a must have for your christmas parties. hey if your family gonna drive u crazy, and you know the will, you might as well pour a drink and blast this timeless marvin cut. :) :)
on the low...this is a sad song. but i like the jingle bells :)
This song makes me cry :)

Incredible! How did he manage to make it still relevant today???
Because this country is systematically addicted to war and it's Military Industrial Complex that's why!
Unbecoming circumstances make for the most dynamic music and prose. Thanks for posting.

I love this song as it's a throwback to his '60s sound. It's amazing though even when Marvin did Christmas songs it sounded romantic :D
SPTO 3 years ago 10
@SPTO I disagree. Vocally, this is more 70's style Marvin...which I think is much better.
