Kay has admitted he lost the plot, and was taking months to edit it, halfway through deciding to change it, and then change it again. Eventually the studio and Ed Norton took over the editing. Kay has admitted he lost the plot completely, but if Norton and others had not stepped in, it would have been massively rubbish.
