The biggest problem that Earth faces is its overpopulation. With advances in modern medicine over the last century people now live way longer than nature had intended. Well... no. The moment you stop breathing, your body's pH starts to raise because your cells don't have any more oxygen, and this causes the lysosomes to burst, dissolving your cells... your body starts to liquify itself, which is kinda weird.

We (humans) like to see the human race as something special and try to find a solution for everything. That's a good thing really but some things will never be solved. We fight hunger, we fight diseases, we try to make people live longer etc. At one point it simply won't be possible to feed the massive population anymore.

Every time we cure one disease another one pops up. Usually it's worse than the one we just cured. :/
