  • Stupendomaaaan! I'm italian ;-).

I liked it very, very much, the rhythm and the sets were the right ones from the comic strip, but you should find a way to show Hobbes as seen as Calvin sees him, it's the main plot from the comic.

  • curse me for not being able to speak this language!

  • This is really brilliant.

  • Calvin: The cookies have disappeared!

Tracer Bullet: It was another difficult case...but you don't hire a Private Eye for the easy ones. I had thought to take a day off with my friends. My friends travel light and I get along well with them. One travels in a holster, and the other in a hip flask...

  • My name is Bullet...Tracer Bullet. People call me by other names. I'm a Private Detective. That's what written on my door. That morning, the last thing I wanted was trouble. The woman who brought is was persuasive. Most are, in one way or another.

Mother: Listen to me young man! I just passed the kitchen and the cookies have disappeared. So, you will return them right away. And you will make sure that not one of them is missing, or tonight you go to bed at 7pm. Understood?

  • Tracer Bullet: I told her that I charged $50 a day, plus expences.

    (Alley)

Tracer Bullet: I was on the trail. Some story of contraband. I was canvassing the warehouses when a two-fisted thug tried to rearrange my face.

Father: You mother told me to see if you’d listened to her, Calvin but I can see that you haven’t. You haven’t returned the cookies….

  • (Hallway)

Tracer Bullet: I had finally cornered the ring-leader. He didn’t look as fierce when he wasn’t behind his desk. My caliber carved in his heart, the words for fear. And he confided in me like a teen with her most intimate journal. I learned everything there was to know about the organization. The case was closed and I was well able to celebrate my victory. I kept a piece of the action for myself.

  • (Back in office)

Tracer Bullet: Hello, Ma’am. I found your package of goods.

Calvin: Mom! I found the cookies!

Calvin: Yikes! The brownies have disappeared! This looks like a job for…

    Stupendous Man: STUPENDOUS MAN!!!

Voice Over: A purple flash crosses the sky. Yes! It’s Stupendous Man! Protector of the innocent. What diabiloical fiend would steal brownies from an innocent child?

Stupendous Man: This is what our hero will try to discover!

    The End

  • really good!!!

  • Hobbes put on an excellent performance :D

From what I could follow, this really grabbed the spirit of the whole thing better than I've seen a lot of fanwork do. And the cast looked PERFECT XD

I hope the subtitles come soon :)

  • i wish this was in english =P

    great job though!

  • THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER PLEASE WCEPT MY FRIEND REQUEST

  • Will anyone translate it to English?

  • Oh my god, this is an excellent piece of amateur film making and it seems very faithful to the original comics. Can't wait for those English subtitles!

  • no idea what they are saying, but the dad was casted perfectly!

  • Comment removed

  • God, that kid is perfect

  • cool In real life!!!

  • love this! great job.. calvins mom has really let her hair go but the dad is perfect. Love the end. Stupendous man must have translated differently

  • Tres Bien!

  • So imaginative and adorable; I love it. I can't wait for the English subtitles!

  • Was that first bit of music from Once Upon a Time in the West? XD Nice job. This was awesome.

  • it was probobly good but i don't speek french.

  • Next time your going to make a video tribute, do it in english

  • voilá l'espirit du étudiant

  • hahahahaha i loved it.

i can't speak french, but still. it's adorable.

  • The kid and man looked great for the part. I didn't see enough of the woman to really tell.

  • Wow that was really really weird!

  • Bravo :) Trés bonne addaptation

  • Must learn french!!! Awesome vid thou

  • lol! i don't understand the language but this is way too cute XD. that boy really can act as calvin

  • good job though

  • wow calvin and hobbes is english but theres no live action skits of it in english

  • Lol tracer bullet

  • Trop cool!

  • i didn't understand a word of it...those proud french people...the video is so well done and then it's ruined by misunderstanding!

  • calvin's detective strips are the funniest

  • that was good they should of put subtitles in it tho

  • SAk a blehhh

  • I have no idea what's being said, but this is very cool just the same.

  • That kid makes a great Calvin, and the parents fit pretty well, too. Sure wish I knew what they were saying, though...

  • i fail what exactly?? and with a name like 'jester' you shouldnt be breeding either. It may have been published in other countries buts its like a famous song. the majority of countries play it in english but theres always a few who re-record it in some other language and therefore sounds shit. This should remain a comic strip and at the very least this should be subtitled.

    im not your comrade queer

  • Its not like a song at all, rofl its a comic. Comics gets translated, some jokes get worse, some get better, most stay the same. And regarding the way you are presenting your case -> You fail

  • i regret making a comment on this video. i thought marvel comics had the stuck up faggot readers but i guess they got to this magazine too. You think you're leaving clever well written comments but to be honest. im just gona abuse you from now on. you aint getting any point through to me. asslickers

  • Could somebody post a translation? I love Calvin and Hobbes, and the movie was amazing to look at, but I'd like it better if I knew what they were saying. I loved the kid's hairstyle!

  • exceptionally well done!

  • very very awesome!!! that boy is perfect for calvin!!

  • well done i loveed the detective part

  • very nice

  • Excellent!! It was sooo great. Bravo Bravo!!!! Encore please!! C'etait tres tres bien. Awesome. Love this!

  • LOL XD I understood everything (seeing that I'm French-American) and that was HILARIOUS. It was like a totally french version of calvin and hobbes.

  • Haha this is really GREAT XD I do understand French seeing I'm from Belgium, normally I hate the language but this is one of these seldom times I don't, bien,très bien.

C'était vraiment Calvin/Casper ^^ haha surtout HYPERMAN, ça me fait rire si beacoup,j'ai mal au stomach XD

  • so so very very funny almost falled off chair laughing :D

  • haha trop cool.

  • dude, not every person in the world speaks english

  • lol when he becomes tracer bullet. i like how you presented the ambiance of calvin, but any movie, especially live action, puts a dent in the name of calvin and hobbes, especially because bill watterson would most likely be dissapointed.

  • lol when he becomes tracer bullet. i like how you presented the ambiance of calvin, but any movie, especially live action, puts a dent in the name of calvin and hobbes, especially because bill watterson would most likely be dissapointed.

  • boo!

  • at 4:12 lol

  • calvin and hobbes rock!!

  • HAHAHA! That was so good! I didn't understand the exact words but if you read alot of Calvin & Hobbes you don't really need to!

    Great job!

  • haha this is funny

  • What? The scenery is good but what are they saying?

For those who don't understand what is going on, this video is a faithful adaptation of Tracer Bullet's first appearance in the comic strip.

The only major difference here is that it's about "stolen" cookies, instead of a broken lamp.

  • Actually Tracer Bullet's first appearance was when Calvin received a bad haircut, courtesy of Hobbes. The lamp story was actually the last one he appeared in.

  • Oh yeah, you're right!

Anyway, those who can't understand french, just go read the lamp story. Tracer Bullet's monologue is taken from the official french translation.

  • not meant to be french lol

  • PLEASE dont forget this video!

i do understand a little of French, but i would love to have the subtitles for my friends X3

  • co ma sai what?

  • hEEper-man!

  • my french is a little limited to understand this man...but i do know how to order food in a restaurant!ah the Irish education system...

  • Very cool (although I unfortunately couldn't understand a single word other than "cookie")

    Great atmosphere!!!

    :-)

  • um... english please?? Please help for the dumb... which is me.

  • and me

  • me too

  • me three

  • me three

  • Very nicely done...too bad we couldn't see Hobbes as Calvin does, but I guess that would be difficult to do in a short film :)

  • Brilliant.

  • uh in english dude

  • dude thats not spanish

  • TRACER BULLET!

  • OMG i never knew there was a show

  • There isnt, [i think] because Bill Watterson asked they not make it into a show

  • i wish i knew spanish.

  • lol its french

  • loool!

  • that was a joke.

  • lol

  • Loved the Stupendous Man costume at the end. lol

    Bravo encore!

    Glouglou.

  • I wish I could inderstand that

  • loool that was awsome but u could see that people almost laugh at some part hehe :D

  • QUE???

  • RhgRGHGRGHRGHGhrumRumf(shuuting up voice)

  • SPEAK ENGLISH OR SHUT UP!!!!!!

  • WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS!!!!!!!

  • excellent job to bad i do not speak french

  • genial!

  • wtf is it about??? all i know is that the cookies are missing... i stopped there... lol

  • Is win. Too bad it's in French and I only speak English.

  • J'adore cet filme.

  • lol

  • that was awesome! bravo.

  • The beauty of film is you can understand most of what's going on because you're showing it. I don't know why so many people are complaining....

  • J'aime votre film!

  • Oh man, this is one of the best things on Youtube....and I don't speak French! AND I'm only 1:47 seconds in!

    Subtitles anyone?

  • nice touch gooing from tracer bullet to stupedous man

  • this was the worst thing I have ever seen compared to anything this was shit (including shit)

  • "C'est Hyperman!" Don't know why that cracked me up, but it did. :)

Calvin's poor parents. Somehow, I appreciate them a lot more in live action.

  • Lovely film, but the tiger is all wrong. He needs to be long & thin, not round & squat. You can via the 'net find people who will make custom plushies for you.Still a great idea for a film. Can you re-edit a more recognizable Hobbes into the film in post-production?

Sorry to be picky, but the tiger needs to work for me.

  • that was fun to watch

  • cool

  • talk about jiberish or what !!

  • it was in french...you know another language... as in NOT english

  • I agree that this was a really great concept and I would like to see it subtitled as well.

    BTW joemanrox... it's French.

  • can hurry up with the subtitles?

  • What the hell are you saying?

  • I didn't understand a single word...nice anyway. But where's Hobbes?

  • oh yeah! Calvin's imagining himselve as Tracer Bullet i remember in the comic strip (if only it was and english) otherwise ns man!

  • Hyper Man?

  • good video. When are the English subtitles coming out? I'm sure plenty of people like it but can't understand it.

  • c'est trop cool

  • what would bill say? good though.

  • The reason Bill Watterson ended the strip is because he was tired of fighting merchandisers. TV executives, and everyone else that wanted a piece of Calvin and Hobbes.

Charles M. Schulz did it with peanuts and made a shitload off of the merchandise and tv shows., so did Jim Davis with Garfield

However Bill Watterson felt that this lessened the strip into something that wasn't artwork, which was the only thing he wanted to do. Have you seen the sunday strips, especially the later ones?

  • Dude, get over it - you've posted this on a number of vids. Fan tributes such as this really enhance the work rather than detract from it, even if selling merchandise detracts. There is no cheapening of Calvin and Hobbes occurring.

  • He still gets calls to this day from people asking if they can use Calvin and Hobbes likeness for merchandise.

Because the strip is just that Fucking good.

Calvin and Hobbes was my favorite strip in 1st grade and it still is to this day, Fifteen years later.

I love Garfield and Foxtrot, But No one else has come close to being this good.

  • I knew it. Calvin was going to become a "private eye". I remember finding an old newspaper in my grandpa's attic. It was all dusty and everything. So, after i found it, I then read the comics(Calvin and Hobbes), and it was the one where Calvin was taking a test and he was a private eye. After that, I bought the Essential Calvin and Hobbes, and the Calvin and Hobbes Treasury.

  • which book in the essential did u like? the book acutally had 3 seprate books but into 1 i liked Yukon Ho!

  • this has got to be cool! magnifique

  • omg i have a tiger doll just like that!!!

  • what ev. i have kilroy, my raccoon, whom we played football and used to play calvinball. ah the days

  • Not really good. That kid's a little tall to be six (or it just seems so) and his voice in too hurried. In the strip, Calvin always seems to talk so smoothly. This kid doesn't really look bright. And why in the world in Hobbes compressed like that? All scrunched up and shortened.

  • I dont know french but i read calvin and hobbes all the time and i could just imagine what he is saying and what is going on.

  • that was pretty good, if you know Calvin and Hobbes the french doesnt matter

  • please try to recreate this video with subtitles. I love Calvin and Hobbes and the video looks very good but the only part of the whole video that I understood was the part where it says "The Cookies Have Disapeared!!!" in french but was followed by a subtitled version. Please redo this video edited in english or subtitled. If you do you have my forever thanks.

  • Not terribly easy...the english subtitles aren't too bad, but redoing it in English? The actors are Parisien....not so easy.

  • thats a cool calvin and parents but the hobbes is stoopid hobbes isnt supposed to be little and crunched up hes supposed to be a little bigger then that and sorta be ragdoll-ish

  • hobbes let himself go....there really should be an english dub for this

  • bon, c'est bon!

  • eeew...french.
