I get upset if TSA pats down kids because it's ridiculous, but you being an adult I don't have much sympathy for what happened to you, mainly because I've been patted down too, and it's not much of a big deal. Flying is a privileged not a right. You don't have to fly, but if you want to, expect to go through the body scanners if you do fly, and expect to be patted down if you don't want to go through the scanners.

The Oklahoma city bombing was the only incident that I can think of when over 100 people died. More Americans have died from domestic murders than Terrorist attacks. But in her case, she is making a big deal out of something that happens daily. She refused to go through the body scanner, why does TSA not have a right to search her? You take in even more radiation from the plane when flying at 38000 ft. You hear the word radiation and you think "bad," but every day you are exposed to radiation. You are being exposed to radiation looking at your computer screen right now. So I'd rather take in harmless radiation than be patted down.

@dclaver2 the machines are electronically run software controlled, they can control the strength and depth of the scan through the software these machines are far more sophisticated then the old x-ray machines used in most doctors offices, the fact is know one knows but the company producing them what they are capable of because the creators have not released their design spec's all any one knows is what they tell us, and they could be lying, they have done it before!

I get upset if TSA pats down kids because it's ridiculous, but you being an adult I don't have much sympathy for what happened to you, mainly because I've been patted down too, and it's not much of a big deal. Flying is a privileged not a right. You don't have to fly, but if you want to, expect to go through the body scanners if you do fly, and expect to be patted down if you don't want to go through the scanners.

You take in even more radiation from the plane when flying at 38000 ft. You hear the word radiation and you think "bad," but every day you are exposed to radiation. You are being exposed to radiation looking at your computer screen right now. So I'd rather take in harmless radiation than be patted down.

@dclaver2 dude there is no such thing as harmless radiation. a little here a little there, it accumulates within the body untill you get sick and or you become sterile.

@tree003a You're right, it's not harmless, but it's not harmful. As I said, you hear the word radiation and you think "bad." You are being exposed to radiation when you go out in the sun, when you talk on your phone, when you are watching a computer screen, when you put gas in your car. Every element gives off radioactivity. Something that's highly radioactive would be an element with a high atomic number because it decays faster. Lower radioactivity has a lower atomic numbers and decay slower.

@ABGAN100 Every generation their is always a public enemy #1. In the past 12 years it has been Muslims, before that it was the Russians, before that it was the Germans and Japanese. in 30 years, Hindus could be the enemy, even though they are already racial profiled for looking middle eastern.

@dclaver2 another thing are you suggestion that we trust the government concerning the full body scans, the very same government that conducted Unethical human experimentation irradiating milk fed to school children between the 50s-70s the same government that has democrats who have advocated putting sterilants in the water, for population control.democrats like John Holdren who has suggest the forced sterilization of women for population control.

@ABGAN100 It happens daily, not with kids who are 3-12, which is why TSA can't pat down kids under 12 anymore. Teens try to sneak drugs onto planes, many try to bring pocket knives, this one time when I flew from Dalas, a 12 year old had bullets in his bag because they were "souvenirs." You know that there are white Muslims out there? I don't know why you think TSA should racial profile, and that just because she's Miss USA, she should not have to be patted down for refusing to be scanned.

You also said that she's not Muslim, why would they search her (your not exact words, just emphasizing), but she refused to go through the body scanner. What if she's trying to sneak drugs on the plane? It's not just terrorism, it's all illegal activity.
They felt her vagina, but people stick stuff inside their underwear to hide drugs.
Now I'm not saying she has drugs, I'm saying it's TSA's job to be suspicious to everyone, and fair.

@dclaver2 for argument say she decides to sneak drugs on the airplane,is she a threat to the passengers or their safety? the answer is no! the TSA dose not have the right to illegal search and seizure.no more then police have the right to randomly search everyone's home just because their may be people who are dealing drugs in you neighborhood. by your logic no one has the right resist illegal searches. and the police have the right to be suspicious of everyone. so guilt till proven innocent?

@ABGAN100 Flying is a privileged not a right, and those rights don't apply when you are at an airport because you are in a public airport ran by the government. Now if you don't want to go through the scanners, and you don't want to be patted down, you have the right to turn around and not fly. Drugs can contribute towards death (34,000 deaths from the drug war in the last 4 1/2 years), and air travel was one way of transporting drugs. TSA has every right to prevent the transportation of drugs.

@ABGAN100 Now TSA's point of view is "You don't want to go through the scanner, what are you trying to hide?"
Her point of view is "I don't want to go through the scanners because of the radiation. You get more radiation walking out in the sun for 20 minutes in the summer than, getting scanned. The whole scanner mainly works by magnets, not radiation, and it doesn't show a nude image, it shows a virtual image that doesn't show much detail.

@dclaver2 their is no way of knowing the effects of the scanners, they haven't been around that long, and undoubtedly any study's that have been done will be skewed or even falsified to protect the company's producing them to protect the billions they will make off of them! and I've seen the images they show and they reveal enough to make most people uncomfortable.

@ABGAN100 and this whole thing isn't about safety, it's about equality and status. If TSA only searched Muslims, or suspicious looking people, it will be too noticeable and they can be violating civil liberties. Now, Americans are so willing to trade their civil liberties for security. After 9/11, everyone was willing to cooperate with TSA, now that nothing has happened in the past 11 years besides the Christmas day bomber, people are saying, "this has gone too far." Well it's too late.

@ABGAN100 I've been searched too, you get over it a few hours later. I was 12 years old flying from Alaska to Chicago with my parents, I had an open bottle of Shampoo, it set off the alarm, so they searched me. Now TSA has set new standards to not pat kids down under 12 which is one step, but the full body scanners, won't go anywhere.
To conclude what I'm saying, if you don't want to get patted down, just go through the scanner. If you don't want to go through the scanner, expect to be searched
