Next monday i´m going to have my 4th operation.I will have the newest ICD with 3 wires..In other words I have tried it 3 times before and I have been awake every time just like in this movie.I use to talk with the surgeon and the nurses during most of the operation.Of course you will be in local anesthesia so you won´t feel any pain at all.I can´t understand those who talk about a lot of pain.

2 hours after the operation u will be sitting in a chair drinking coffee.

Thats the ICD i have!!!!!!!! got it for my 18th bday present... well not really btu 2 weeks after i was snowboarding and i went into cardiac arrest then my electrophysiologist wanted one of these implanted. Hurt like a bitch after. I cant believe that man is awake!

@CourtneyM092 Hello there... hope you are all well now.., my husband (34yrs old) had an ICD implantation and he was awake too... and it hurt a lot.. its been a year and a half now .. and he still remembers the pain while the surgery..and of course after. WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.

Great video. I love how Danes don't hold back on anything. They even show us the defibrillation threshold (DFT) test, which starts at 3:09. No U.S. hospital would ever show us that for fear of upsetting some people.

(DFT is the minimum amount of energy needed to defibrillate the heart during a life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia. In this video, ventricular fibrillation is induced at approximately 3:15 and a life-saving shock is delivered by the device at 3:23, in roughly 8 seconds.)
