These two were a double act! Saint was the sensible one; diplomatic, softly spoken and polite, calm and very articulate! Where as Greavsie, was very out spoken and would say the first thing that came into his head! Two great legends!
@dee74raz Cheers. Yeah those were the days when you didn't have 7 substitutes to choose from! Just a bit surprised that Platt was chosen to go in goals. I mean, he's not exactly the tallest!
Altrincham didn't make it because there ground wasn't good enough then again it was Darlington who got promoted as my team Leicester got their manager Brian Little the start of the glory days before Martin O'Neil took it to the next level.
I'm 24 and I'd much rather have Saint and Greavsie on the telly than those cunts Lineker and Hansen. Football coverage today in Britain is shit, and no amount of flashy graphics can gloss over the selling out of football. Fuck Sky for taking the game away.
I am a Villa fan and we were shocking that season. Graham Taylor had left to take the England job and was replaced by Dr. Jo Venglos who was a disaster. In the end we were lucky to stay up that season, with the form of David Platt being one of the only positives. That's taking nothing away from Arsenal though, who had been a very good side for a number of years.
Pure 90s Nostalgia, this was when British Football was truly that..BRITISH!.
Have you noticed that idiots now say that Football now is better than ever with all the foreigners but this video demolishes that point of view!.Greed and Globalist Ideology destroyed the game I used to love, I hope one day I can love it again...........
@Cal900 For a brief period of about a couple of years or so, there were actually 93 clubs in the league. It might have been around the time when they first decided to do away with the old re-election system and start promoting from what was then the GM Vauxhall Conference to the Football League. It did not last long though, and it went back to 92 clubs again. Happy to defer to greater knowledge if I am wrong, but I am sure it was something to do with that.
Blimey, Arsenal actually won trophies back then! I was at that game and contrary to the boring tag which follows that Arsenal team around, Arsenal wripped Villa to shreds with some very good football. I remember John Major being at that game and being taunted by the Arsenal fans on the terraces below his box. I loved Dave Bassett's gag about George Graham needing the money......how prophetic was that!!!
@tomd2103 Yeah, I remember that. Mind you Villa were not a bad side then, and had finished runners-up to Liverpool the previous season. Largely off the back of that, Graham Taylor became England manager!
@eJasminde Sorry I only have the first 5 minutes of the programme. I got this by accident, while another programme was recording before saint and greavsie !!!!
@spiderchoc When i was young (around this time) I always hated this theme cos it meant the kids shows were finished and my dad and older brother hogged the tv for the rest of the day! But now this theme reminds me of a happy childhood of me, my dad and my brother sitting down to watch saturday afternoon sport. Although at the time i didnt like it, in my heart I loved this time in my life...
@spiderchoc I dont have any complaints about sky and football at all. I remember when sky first started showing football, places like ITV and the BBC regularly mocked them and made fun of them. Not taking sky seriously, was their mistake one thay paid for many times. Sky is a self made company starting from scratch and mocked and ridiculed guess they had the last laugh.
Surprise surprise!! Arsenal 0-0 Everton... Boring boring arsenal!!!

Why was David Platt in goal for Villa?

@943SG I think the original goalkeeper had injuries and there was no one available.
