  • Surprise surprise!! Arsenal 0-0 Everton... Boring boring arsenal!!!

  • These two were a double act! Saint was the sensible one; diplomatic, softly spoken and polite, calm and very articulate! Where as Greavsie, was very out spoken and would say the first thing that came into his head! Two great legends!

  • @dee74raz Cheers. Yeah those were the days when you didn't have 7 substitutes to choose from! Just a bit surprised that Platt was chosen to go in goals. I mean, he's not exactly the tallest!

  • Why was David Platt in goal for Villa?

  • @943SG I think the original goalkeeper had injuries and there was no one available.

  • David Platt in goal for the Villa.

  • 0:27 Is that Jimmy having a sneaky pina colada before kick off?..

  • great days watching Saint and Greavsie then watching the big match live on a sunday afternoon with my roast lunch

  • Ahhh...the days before the Premier League...how I miss that vibe...

  • still watch it every saturday they do 3/4 hour show on video jsut for me evry week after saturday superstore

  • was a great show. yet another example of our throw away society. ditch anything thats good, replace it with "new" utter rubbish.

  • Altrincham didn't make it because there ground wasn't good enough then again it was Darlington who got promoted as my team Leicester got their manager Brian Little the start of the glory days before Martin O'Neil took it to the next level.

  • @bluevan12 1991...that'd be Barnet, not Darlo.

  • thats when football was football. laugh at greavsie with the glass of milk (yeah right!!!!) in titles!!!!!

  • I'm 24 and I'd much rather have Saint and Greavsie on the telly than those cunts Lineker and Hansen. Football coverage today in Britain is shit, and no amount of flashy graphics can gloss over the selling out of football. Fuck Sky for taking the game away.

  • lol at "bollocks" from greavsie!

  • still get this show in my area watch it every saturday staright after no 73 #

    its great

  • @vania1013 Hahaha. Behave yourself ;-)

  • @eclectica1

its true i have it on video 72 hours of 1984-1986 itv stuff never miss it

  • I am a Villa fan and we were shocking that season. Graham Taylor had left to take the England job and was replaced by Dr. Jo Venglos who was a disaster. In the end we were lucky to stay up that season, with the form of David Platt being one of the only positives. That's taking nothing away from Arsenal though, who had been a very good side for a number of years.

  • Pure 90s Nostalgia, this was when British Football was truly that..BRITISH!.

Have you noticed that idiots now say that Football now is better than ever with all the foreigners but this video demolishes that point of view!.Greed and Globalist Ideology destroyed the game I used to love, I hope one day I can love it again...........

  • 93rd league side alty..... How would that work? Sounds like talksport radio is now..

  • @Cal900 For a brief period of about a couple of years or so, there were actually 93 clubs in the league. It might have been around the time when they first decided to do away with the old re-election system and start promoting from what was then the GM Vauxhall Conference to the Football League. It did not last long though, and it went back to 92 clubs again. Happy to defer to greater knowledge if I am wrong, but I am sure it was something to do with that.

  • 93rd league side alty..... How would that work?

  • Saturday lunchtime. Me and Dad eating burgers in front of Saint & Greavsie. Such good memories!

  • Blimey, Arsenal actually won trophies back then! I was at that game and contrary to the boring tag which follows that Arsenal team around, Arsenal wripped Villa to shreds with some very good football. I remember John Major being at that game and being taunted by the Arsenal fans on the terraces below his box. I loved Dave Bassett's gag about George Graham needing the money......how prophetic was that!!!

  • @converse91970 David Platt in goal for Villa for a couple of the goals as well!!

  • @tomd2103 Yeah, I remember that. Mind you Villa were not a bad side then, and had finished runners-up to Liverpool the previous season. Largely off the back of that, Graham Taylor became England manager!

  • lol Greavsie @ 1:24 " Hellooo.....good day......bollocks."

  • @JayGun76 lololololol....he just doesn't care does he... flippin' hilarious... wouldn't have got away with that nowadays... not so easily anyway....

  • @JayGun76 As brilliant as it would be, I think he says 'folks'.

  • @JayGun76 well funny i spotted that as well

  • Saint and Greavsie.A class act. They were the Walter Mathau and Jack Lemmon of International Soccer.

  • get these 2 back on tv!

  • Do you have the rest of this episode? Would love to see the rest! Thanks :)

  • @eJasminde Sorry I only have the first 5 minutes of the programme. I got this by accident, while another programme was recording before saint and greavsie !!!!

  • That "big shake up" was a sad event for English football.

The game was better back then.

  • that "coming up on the show today" music SO good

  • @afuzzyduck anyone know if its about any dank corner of the internet? kicks in at about 0.52

  • greavsie is the man

  • Proper footbal, proper pundits and proper comentators. Sky have destroyed football

  • @spiderchoc When i was young (around this time) I always hated this theme cos it meant the kids shows were finished and my dad and older brother hogged the tv for the rest of the day! But now this theme reminds me of a happy childhood of me, my dad and my brother sitting down to watch saturday afternoon sport. Although at the time i didnt like it, in my heart I loved this time in my life...

  • @spiderchoc And one more thing i just noticed... Le God scored for saints giving them the win! Go on you Saints!!! lol!

  • @spiderchoc I dont have any complaints about sky and football at all. I remember when sky first started showing football, places like ITV and the BBC regularly mocked them and made fun of them. Not taking sky seriously, was their mistake one thay paid for many times. Sky is a self made company starting from scratch and mocked and ridiculed guess they had the last laugh.

  • Oh! As I remember them. Thanks for posting.Happy memories.
