Talk about your lost arts. Some of the bronze swords made in the new kingdom of Egypt and of course the ever incredible multi-alloy swords of warring states China are easily the finest examples of sword crafting to this day, and I know of many incredibly made steel swords. Even more regular bronze swords made in europe seem to have been made with knowledge and skill we just cannot replicate. Steel may have won, but they took bronze further when it came to pushing the boundaries of the metal.
@mightyfinejonboy wow suck for you,and most of the people in the world.i can defend myself with guns,under certin situations.really most any body should be able to have the basic human right to defend themselves under any situation.but i will still fight for your right and everyone elses right to defend themselves.and i hope you are fighting for your rights to.
you probably didnt need to degassify the bronze as much as preheat the mold to remove moisture from it, thats what it looked like when the metal was being poured in.
excellent, unfortunately the alloy wasnt polled to remove the gas. This would have prevent the porosity. I have all sorts of questions about this as I am designing a similar project for next year (providing my boss lets me..) so I'll send you a message, thanks.

@mightyfinejonboy why?
akdude182 5 months ago
@akdude182 because in the uk,we cannot have a knife over 3" in length outside the home,in case we might be able to defend ourselves!!

Hi !!
It would be SO cool to cast Bronze Swords like Neil, but since I think it would be too difficult and too dangerous I make swords from Aluminum :-)
You don't have to work with fire and searing liquid metal... I just buy Aluminum slabs and I shape them as swords with carpentry-like techniques...
It's very hard too, but they look great :-)

look great? pathetic. how a sword looks is irrelevant

This is great! How do you make a mold for these? Does clay really work that well?
kingolaf99 3 years ago
Hi Neil !!!
Why don't you make a video to show what a bronze sword can do, cutting some targets??? It would be very interesting to see that :-)
