The UN did not want to help, but was convinced to. The US and the Allied forces entered Kuwait and destroyed the Iraqi army pushing it back to its borders. That being done, Iraq then signed TREATIES, you know the things you DON'T break. Well they broke them. One of the ways was killing UN reps.
